Honestly this is perfect example of why dmc 5 is so damn good. The game is easy to learn with a skill ceiling so high even the souls series is getting vertigo. Making the game look great and giving players access to flashy moves draws in fans, and being able to combine them in an infinite number of ways keeps them coming back, that andnthe fact that litterly no other game does what dmc does.
Never loved souls because of its combat. Do like them for their worlds but the combat lacking depth is the reason why I never go back to them. Also I concur on doom eternal.
@@bruhder5854 I feel the same with dark soul. Finally! Basic Judgement Cut timing is pretty self-explanatory and yet most videos just focus on that, whereas the real thing people want to know is how to chain *more* than 3/4 by using Trick etc. Thank you~
After this vid I learned how to do it easily thank you so much this took days to learn, for those still struggling, check your positioning, trick then press b and y once you hear the first set of slash noises, repeat pressing y and b at the same time in a pattern
This is the best video on this move and here's why: -The hitting the "Trick Shot" button right after your charged is the trick for me when doing the Judgement cut in the air. I remapped my Triangle and Circle Button to R1 and R2 and sort of have a piano motion that i do that gets the timing perfect. -I tried to piano on the Triangle and Circle button which did have some success, but I think i was too fast so I remapped them to the shoulders which requires more time to push down. I instantly got a 3 combo doing this back to back. I'm still working on timing, but this video allowed me to advance with success.
My only real complaints about the Vergil DLC is the fact that we didn't get a Nero boss and the fact that Vergil didn't get a new weapon to round out his arsenal
After practicing for two weeks I can finally do it. The trick for those who don't get it is to use the end of your thumb for triangle to hold and the middle ridge of your thumb to tap the circle. It takes some getting used to to do it but with muscle memory and enough repetition you can do it. I recommend learning to consistently Trick Down first before practicing the JC trick down (bc it actually hurts your thumb sometimes).
Excellent guide covering two, more advanced, mechanics in the game. But Sssmoke... i wanna see those perfect judgement chains. Looking forward to then!
Theoretically you could start it grounded by buffering air ground trick by hitting jump right before the inputs, it's real easy to just slide your thumb across jump to trick button for it, tho I imagine it'd be challenging while also holding down the melee button
Just spent a full day learning full grounded JDC's as well as full air JDC's, planning on going through Bloody Palace using only JDC's, and also am going to attempt to learn this so I can chain infinite JDC's. Thanks, SSSmoke.
@@tekklord the point of the game is to enjoy it in any way you please, which for me is doing a ton of JDC's in Bloody Palace. I can get to SSS pretty easily.
Thank you for the tips and trick, but can you write the actions instead of the buttons? I and many DMC players have redesignated the buttons to something else other than the default (so watching your vid is kinda confusing on which buttons to press)
i love this game since i was a kid and made my parents buy me a ps2 just because of dmc1, but i honestly think its time capcom redesign the input for this game when dmc6 comes around, i think the lock on system gets really unusable when there are multiple enemies thus makes it really easy for u to not be able to do what u want to.
My advice would be to look out for when he puts the sword back in the sheath. It's a bit easier to get the hang of in the air, but as always practice makes perfect.
Personally, I looked not at the sword/sheath, but at the attack itself. Release the button when the special effects disappear Also, remember to start holding the button ASAP after releasing.
Best way you can practice is => hold melee, Jump + melee release then immediately hold melee again. then use trick (style button) and release melee. This way you will understand the rhythm first. After mastering it you can add trick down to additional jcs.
i don't get why in dmc 4 trick down was just mapped at the "away" direction. while dmc 5 trick down is much more complicated and unintuitive with the "away - forward" direction. this is stupid
It took me 4 days just to master the timing tip for y'all for those who don't know hold the melee button when vergil sheaths the yamato then release to execute a perfect judgement cut that not only deals more damage but also fills a large chunk in the concentration bar also the timing of the jc in the ground and in the air are a little bit different
Thanks for this, I still have a long way to go but I was able to successfully do this a few times after a few hours. God it was satisfying to pull off. My worst enemy was getting used to letting go and quickly adding lock on as well as quickly trying to do the backward forward input for the down tricks. How many times Vergil would just trick to them instead of going down xD BTW is it just me or is the timing for just cuts slightly stricter when your using doppleganger and/or sin dt? I can usually do em consistently when normal but the moment I enter either state I apparently lose the ability to do multiple but it feels like I'm just doing the same timing.
A bit late to the party here, but did you figure out a way to consistently trick down? I'm also getting regular trick to enemy most of the time and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.
@@kokkoshode honestly its just practice, you can get it down after consistent practice. If its too hard at first, try slowing down and just do one part at a time, like jumping then trick down, when you feel you've got it, throw in a cut, add more as you get used to it.
i have something to ask, does lock on not useful if theres liks a lot of enemies? or have you ever done any combo without locking on to enemy ( at least lock on for your first attack)?
