A person can be more masculine or more feminine no matter their sex/gender but that doesn't change their sex/gender. Just as sexual preference doesn't change a person's gender. Let's break down LGBTQ. Leabian-sexual preference, Gay-preference. Bi-preference, Queer- preference (and the same thing as gay lesbian and bi) trans is the only one which is a preference of what gender/sex the person wants themselves to be but that cannot be changed. Not even with surgery.

I work for a California Department of State Hospitals. We had a male come into our facility full male and had no feminine characteristics. His initial charge was rape. He was registered sex offender with four convictions of rape. During admission, he said he identified as a female, so he was housed with females. After three weeks, it was discovered that he was raping females on his housing unit. We found a total of six women. Three of the six got pregnant. The woke administration lost their minds when they were told they were now responsible for six women getting raped. This crap needs to stop!

Nah, can't agree with that one.... There's definitely women who use the phrase "be a man", "he's not a man", "he's a boy, not a man", etc and people will take her side. Society allows women to define men as well. Gender wasn't a social construct until around the time of "The Second Sex" by Judith Butler, iirc. Anyone can be a man and anyone can be a woman if gender is purely socially constructed; those terms don't refer to physical facts but to arbitrary social conventions. This is the viewpoint of a woman (Butler) taken to it's logical conclusion. I'm a 66-year-old woman that has a granddaughter that wants to be called a male and she gets so mad and upset whenever I refer to her in a feminine way. It's gotten to the point that when talking to her, I refer to her as my grandchild. For example, when someone asks me which of my granddaughters are going someplace, and I know that she might be listening, I'll say my eldest grandchild is going because if I said her birth name or referred to her as granddaughter then the drama queen will come out big time. I said pronouns are identity markers in the English language so their demand is asinine. She was taken aback and said I was right. I told her I have always been a tomboy. The guys wore more makeup than the girls, wore girl clothes, and had long hair, big hair, and used more hairspray than the girls did. Yet they were men. We had Freddie Mercury, the lead singer of Judas Priest, Elton John, and Boy George who were gay men, who were pioneers and dang good artists. Then we had androgynous singers like Prince, Annie Lennox, and David Bowie who broke the norms, yet they didn't demand we conform. These kids today act like all they are experiencing is something new and innovative, but they are riding the coat tails of others generations before them. What we have now is conditioned children who are being manipulated and brain washed into thinking they are in the wrong body, when they can be anyone they wish to be without changing their biological bodies. The powers that are running this brainwashing movement are purposefully trying to keep the human race from populating and procreating. I'm pretty sure that no one who is trans is trying to "reverse" their gender. They're just trying to become what gender that they think they are in their minds. They don't think that they will ever become cis-gendered by changing their genitals, that's why they call themselves trans.

A similar thing has happened at a local swimming pool to me, but the women who found a male in their changing room - a man in his 60s' who said he identified as a woman, but was wholly intact and didn't look like a woman at all, would certainly not pass as a woman- the male was walking around naked after using the shower and there were women and children in there. The women, mostly mothers, didn't just accept it and internalise the issue, there were multiple complaints made. the male was told by management that they could not do that and the male formally complained. the male was offered a private room to change in, but that was refused. The male wanted to be in the women's changing room. I really think this is more about autogynephilia.

Here in thr UK we had an incident in a National Health Service (NHS) hospital. A woman being cared for on an all female ward reported she had been graped. The complaint was essentially dismissed as staff declared there were no males present. Because of this the incident wasn't investigated as a grape. It subsequently was found out there was a trans patient and it was they that committed the act. Staff had been instructed that they couldn't identify the trans patient. Crazy.

They had no spine. Media editing is difficult sometimes, it shouldn't consist merely of swimming in the immediate current you're floating in, sitting on the bandwagon. But this was got up as 'being on the right side of history', taking on the establishment, the next huge injustice to be overturned. It was oversimplistic uncritical crumbling.
I see trans as people exercising their right to do whatever they fancy with their own body. On the same level as piercing, tatoos, dying hair, picking your clothes, getting a tan, having your nose surgically altered and other plastic surgeries. The issue with your argument about bio women is what about trans men? They're bio women, so should they still be allowed to go to their spaces? IMO, I don't understand the whole "segregate men and women bathrooms". The vast majority of bathrooms I've seen in my life are genderless. I've been to saunas and guess what: genderless. I'm not american. I assume when you're accustomed to have men and women in the same spaces, and people are not acting like dirty primates, people just never learn to care about this.

I’m against the shutting down of reasonable concerns about children-not adults-altering their bodies irreparably before they understand who and what they are. Identity issues are common in young people. I am against the denial that the vast majority of people fall into only one category of either bio man or bio woman. I think intersex people should go where they feel comfortable. I also wish trans people could go where they feel comfortable, but not at the expense of women feeling uncomfortable. The risk of a trans man harming bio men in a public washroom is slim. Additionally, a lot of trans men don’t feel safe in male public bathrooms, so despite identifying as men, they continue to use female bathrooms. All you need to do is look at the statistics of sexual violence against women to understand women’s concerns. I’m not against trans people having their own spaces. I think a great solution would be for there to be gender neutral bathrooms in addition to segregated. Then anyone who feels comfortable can use the gender neutral bathrooms, and women can feel safer using the washroom publicly if they decide to stick with women’s washrooms. I have to be honest, though. I don’t have a clear solution for all these problems. I think low-testosterone trans women should also have safe spaces, especially are more prone to abuse if they aren’t passing. The issue here is that there are predators taking advantage of these new norms, and the victims of this are going to be women. The other issue is that people can’t openly talk about these concerns without being labeled bigots and transphobes. I’m not digging this new culture of Orwellian Newspeak around these issues. I think open discussion is the way to a better world for all of us. Currently the norm is to literally ignore the safety concerns of the majority of a demographic to address the safety concerns of a tiny minority. That’s wacky to me. As an empathic person, I feel we do need to care for minority demographics, but I think it’s utterly absurd to do it at the expense of a much larger group. One more concise point on the topic of transitioning: Surgeries to prevent suicide is inherently absurd and speaks to a larger issue. Cosmetic surgeries of any kind come down to ego and belonging. We need a society that accepts people for how they are, and if that happens, surgeries would be unnecessary be people would be more accepting of themselves.
It reminds me of when my son was younger and I taught him to hold the door open for people. So many times after that I'd have to yell at him to stop because he'd be just standing there forever because the people never stopped coming through the door at the store. That's how society is, we hold the door to be nice for one or two people and next thing we know we are standing there, exhausted while people just keep coming through and they don't stop as long as we hold that door open.
The worst people are those who don't even hurry themselves and those who don't even say thank you. For the second case, I make the whole discussion; "thank you, you're welcome" loudly enough for them to hear it. I can garantee it has its effect. For the first case, I count 1, 2, 3 and I let the door close itself. It also has its effect.
My rule of thumb is to hold the door open for the person behind me only unless the next person is elderly, carrying a child or pushing a stroller, or has their arms full. So I open the door for one person and then it's that person's responsibility to hold it for the next person. I've been known to race to the door ahead of someone if I can see they need help with the door. Even if some are assholes, don't let it ruin your good manners. Goodness is contagious.

For this issue. I totally agree. For other issues, relativity plays a role. eg: "The meteor crashed into the earth", true from our POV. But possible that Earth was flying through space & the meteor was stationary. the "truth" is that Earth struck the meteor. And "truth" changes over time. In the '50's the atom was the smallest thing you could get. Then we discovered sub-atomic particles. Similarly, it is impossible to fly faster than the speed of sound. Until we did it. It is likely that ones sense of gender is something that we know very little about. So the "truth" may change as we learn more. However, that doesn't mean that 51% of the population should be made uncomfortable to accommodate the needs of much less than 1%.

Being locked up isn't comfortable regardless of the place. Besides, most prisoners have to be released again at some point. Treating prisoners badly only causes resentment, alienation from society, and ultimately massively increases the chance the will go back to a life of crime. That doesn't do anyone any good. Prisoners should be treated humanely if only to decrease recidivism. That's one reason why recidivism in the US is so extremely high compared to Europe; the deplorable state of prisons.

A few years ago, talk of trans women came up in the military and discussed the idea of allowing them to shower and house with female soldiers. I of course made a comment disagreeing, in which I was booed and called trans-phobic. Someone who has experienced SA in the military would never feel comfortable allowing this to happen in our ranks. It opens doors for such atrocities we’ve seen in female prisons to date and erases the one safe space women in the military, or in general, have left.

A person can be more masculine or more feminine no matter their sex/gender but that doesn't change their sex/gender. Just as sexual preference doesn't change a person's gender. Let's break down LGBTQ. Leabian-sexual preference, Gay-preference. Bi-preference, Queer- preference (and the same thing as gay lesbian and bi) trans is the only one which is a preference of what gender/sex the person wants themselves to be but that cannot be changed. Not even with surgery.

It's not exactly an "interview." It is a sort of a game, where people are invited to formulate their reasons for holding their beliefs. So, letting people speak and listening to them is the central thing in the experiment. Boghossian is explicitly interested in letting people talk and actually nudges them to be as clear as they can (while trying his best to keep a neutral position).

As someone working in forensic DNA, I'm so thankful that this woman is brave enough to risk her career to tell the truth. Every person who works with DNA KNOWS that MEN AND WOMEN ARE DIFFERENT THINGS AND YOU CAN"T JUST MAKE ONE INTO THE OTHER. If they say otherwise, they are either lying or should be forced to return their diploma's because they have no business saying they are geneticists.

I work for a California Department of State Hospitals. We had a male come into our facility full male and had no feminine characteristics. His initial charge was rape. He was registered sex offender with four convictions of rape. During admission, he said he identified as a female, so he was housed with females. After three weeks, it was discovered that he was raping females on his housing unit. We found a total of six women. Three of the six got pregnant. The woke administration lost their minds when they were told they were now responsible for six women getting raped. This crap needs to stop!

Gender wasn't a social construct until around the time of "The Second Sex" by Judith Butler, iirc. Anyone can be a man and anyone can be a woman if gender is purely socially constructed; those terms don't refer to physical facts but to arbitrary social conventions. The guys wore more makeup than the girls, wore girl clothes, and had long hair, big hair, and used more hairspray than the girls did. Yet they were men. We had Freddie Mercury, the lead singer of Judas Priest, Elton John, and Boy George who were gay men, who were pioneers and dang good artists. Then we had androgynous singers like Prince, Annie Lennox, and David Bowie who broke the norms, yet they didn't demand we conform. These kids today act like all they are experiencing is something new and innovative, but they are riding the coat tails of others generations before them. What we have now is conditioned children who are being manipulated and brain washed into thinking they are in the wrong body, when they can be anyone they wish to be without changing their biological bodies. The powers that are running this brainwashing movement are purposefully trying to keep the human race from populating and procreating. We have elitists telling other elitists that we need population control and now here we are. They are trying to decimate the human race and what better way than push for this new movement. I had a third grade teacher that preached this!! Here in thr UK we had an incident in a National Health Service (NHS) hospital. A woman being cared for on an all female ward reported she had been graped. The complaint was essentially dismissed as staff declared there were no males present. Because of this the incident wasn't investigated as a grape. It subsequently was found out there was a trans patient and it was they that committed the act.
Staff had been instructed that they couldn't identify the trans patient. Crazy.

I’m against the shutting down of reasonable concerns about children-not adults-altering their bodies irreparably before they understand who and what they are. Identity issues are common in young people. I am against the denial that the vast majority of people fall into only one category of either bio man or bio woman. I think intersex people should go where they feel comfortable. I also wish trans people could go where they feel comfortable, but not at the expense of women feeling uncomfortable. The risk of a trans man harming bio men in a public washroom is slim. Additionally, a lot of trans men don’t feel safe in male public bathrooms, so despite identifying as men, they continue to use female bathrooms. All you need to do is look at the statistics of sexual violence against women to understand women’s concerns. I’m not against trans people having their own spaces. I think a great solution would be for there to be gender neutral bathrooms in addition to segregated. Then anyone who feels comfortable can use the gender neutral bathrooms, and women can feel safer using the washroom publicly if they decide to stick with women’s washrooms.
I have to be honest, though. I don’t have a clear solution for all these problems. I think low-testosterone trans women should also have safe spaces, especially are more prone to abuse if they aren’t passing. The issue here is that there are predators taking advantage of these new norms, and the victims of this are going to be women. The other issue is that people can’t openly talk about these concerns without being labeled bigots and transphobes. I’m not digging this new culture of Orwellian Newspeak around these issues. I think open discussion is the way to a better world for all of us. Currently the norm is to literally ignore the safety concerns of the majority of a demographic to address the safety concerns of a tiny minority. That’s wacky to me. As an empathic person, I feel we do need to care for minority demographics, but I think it’s utterly absurd to do it at the expense of a much larger group.
One more concise point on the topic of transitioning: Surgeries to prevent suicide is inherently absurd and speaks to a larger issue. Cosmetic surgeries of any kind come down to ego and belonging. We need a society that accepts people for how they are, and if that happens, surgeries would be unnecessary be people would be more accepting of themselves.

It reminds me of when my son was younger and I taught him to hold the door open for people. So many times after that I'd have to yell at him to stop because he'd be just standing there forever because the people never stopped coming through the door at the store. That's how society is, we hold the door to be nice for one or two people and next thing we know we are standing there, exhausted while people just keep coming through and they don't stop as long as we hold that door open.
The worst people are those who don't even hurry themselves and those who don't even say thank you.
For the second case, I make the whole discussion; "thank you, you're welcome" loudly enough for them to hear it. I can garantee it has its effect.
For the first case, I count 1, 2, 3 and I let the door close itself. It also has its effect.
My rule of thumb is to hold the door open for the person behind me only unless the next person is elderly, carrying a child or pushing a stroller, or has their arms full. So I open the door for one person and then it's that person's responsibility to hold it for the next person. I've been known to race to the door ahead of someone if I can see they need help with the door. Even if some are assholes, don't let it ruin your good manners. Goodness is contagious.

I've tried to explain, to no avail, to people on the left that this is not actually being "open minded". Being open minded has to do with being willing to listen and absorb the arguments that others pose. It's not an ideological stance of agreement with everyone, nor of non-commitment, as those are one of "moral relativism". But, being open-minded is the action of deductive critique.

For this issue. I totally agree. For other issues, relativity plays a role. eg: "The meteor crashed into the earth", true from our POV. But possible that Earth was flying through space & the meteor was stationary. the "truth" is that Earth struck the meteor.
And "truth" changes over time. In the '50's the atom was the smallest thing you could get. Then we discovered sub-atomic particles. Similarly, it is impossible to fly faster than the speed of sound. Until we did it.
It is likely that ones sense of gender is something that we know very little about. So the "truth" may change as we learn more. However, that doesn't mean that 51% of the population should be made uncomfortable to accommodate the needs of much less than 1%.
That's not how the earth works, but I hope you know that.

Being locked up isn't comfortable regardless of the place. Besides, most prisoners have to be released again at some point. Treating prisoners badly only causes resentment, alienation from society, and ultimately massively increases the chance the will go back to a life of crime. That doesn't do anyone any good. Prisoners should be treated humanely if only to decrease recidivism. That's one reason why recidivism in the US is so extremely high compared to Europe; the deplorable state of prisons.

this is not being open minded. It's about bad legislation that hadn't been properly thought through. Allowing people to pretend to be transitioning to take advantage is a gigantic loop hole and is of no assistance to those are a genuinely transitioning.
A few years ago, talk of trans women came up in the military and discussed the idea of allowing them to shower and house with female soldiers. I of course made a comment disagreeing, in which I was booed and called trans-phobic. Someone who has experienced SA in the military would never feel comfortable allowing this to happen in our ranks. It opens doors for such atrocities we’ve seen in female prisons to date and erases the one safe space women in the military, or in general, have left.

I am a 46 year old woman that grew up in the 80s. We were the first generation that lived with internet (hello dial up modems lol) the first generation to have cell phones (omg, my brick rogers phone! lmao) and the first and only generation to have a foot on each side of this divide. For all the advancements we have made in life I never would have thought in a million years that we'd be going BACKWARDS in regards to the most basic of issues such as men and women's bilogoy. I'm a biochemist and biotechnologist. I've worked in several different fields, from structural biology to plant and animal biotechnology. I am with her. We scientists need to be courageous and stand up for what we know to be true. It is a developmental process, and there are crucial primary and secondary differences between human sexes, and genders. I'm glad she was brave enough to buck the academic DEI balogne. I hope she can gain some traction.

I must disagree. Sex is biologically determined, whereas GENDER is a term created by sociologists to describe roles and behaviors usually assigned to one sex (feminine or masculine behaviors). Conflating the two terms is what got us into all this trouble to begin with. If you are a scientist, please be more fastidious with your use of language!

As a women from a middle eastern country it never crossed my mind that one day being a woman in the west and USA specifically is more dangerous than being a women in the some middle eastern country.

The biggest problem I have with all this, is unfortunately the vast majority of support and outcry for these insane policies and backwards thinking but emotionally driven choices are done by.... Drum-roll please...... White Women... I wish as a straight man I could say I don't understand these male inmates, but I do... 1. I'm straight so I'm attracted to women, 2. Men's prisons are notoriously more dangerous and filled with higher level of violence. And 3. Given the choice what straight man wouldnt choose to be with a bunch of women. These people are criminals, they didn't get get incarcerated because they sold a hundred boxes of girl scout cookies, no... they fought the law thinking they were smart enough to get away with breaking the law, and they lost.
