The lyrics are very important to understand most Rammstein songs [definetely this one]. Although they make outstanding videos for their songs, which do help and complement the lyrics, without understanding lyrics so much is lost.
The lyrics get lost in translation a lot from German to English. Unless you’re semi fluent in German, you really won’t get it. I struggle with “Deutschland” because I can’t understand it, even though I can speak the language (I’m better at reading it, strangely) it can be very difficult for sure.
@@whatsmandisaying Indeed, you are right. That is why often poetry does not get translated word-by-word to other languages. If you get a poetic translation, then you risk losing double-meanings and puns that are in native language, and the only way to be 100% sure is, as you say, to actually understand the original language - and even then if you do not live in that environment you risk of not getting some subtle meaning.
@@aleksejszExaxtly! Words have multiple meanings and can be used in different ways. So for example, I get confused trying to figure out if it’s a “pun” or if they’re being serious. And “sounding the letters out” doesn’t work because we don’t have a lot of those letters or “b’s” that sound like “c’s”. Or “groß” which means “tall” but that funny “b” actually sounds like a “c”. Oh boy 😂😂

Zeit means Time & yes, their lyrics are deep and full of meaning & often double meanings, yes you should use subtitles to get some of the meaning, there is still lots of room for interpretation anyway, I cried when I heard this one live.
It seems that you are a thoughtful guy who would probably appreciate the poetry and meaning of Rammstein songs. Some are brutal, some romantic, some funny, but all are written with a meaning and a message. If you are intrigued then I would encourage you to explore their music - as others have recommended, there are two very good channels that provide videos with English subtitles. I would be very interested to hear what you think of other songs. It will undeniably help if you do a quick search to find the outline of a song at least - some are about real life events, some are political commentary, many are simply about the human condition. I'm going to subscribe in the hope you will venture down the Rammstein rabbit hole. Best of luck!

Quick correction for the start: yes they’re a German band but their name isn’t Dutch. Dutch is the language from the Netherlands, not German.
Educated Marine makes English lyrics for their music videos and Bucksttabu makes English subtitles for their live performances. As the others in the comments have said Rammstein really needs to be listened to with a translation to fully get everything, although you did get a lot of it right with your analysis of this video.
Their lyrics always have multiple different meanings and a lot of layers. German is a very poetic language with lots of words that can have multiple different meanings, sadly a lot of that gets lost in translation but even in English their songs are still fantastic.
Their music videos are pieces of art but their live performances are absolutely amazing too. They’re considered to be the best live band out there today and probably ever.

Welcome to Rammstein, [their German btw, former East Germany] and you just watched one of their video masterpieces, 'Zeit'' is German for time, the 3 hooded figures are the past, present and future, and its mostly about how we want to stop and reverse time and go back to see loved ones etc, but time only travels in one direction, theres lots of UT videos pouring over this the meaning of this video etc, but you sort of have the gist of it now..Rammstein is a huge rabbit to go down on and one thing I can promise, you won't be bored lol..enjoy
You saw the members of Rammstein in the video. Till Lindemann is the lead singer and he’s also a poet. His lyrics can be deep. I hope you keep checking them out. Watch “Du Hast: Live in Paris” that’s an absolute go to.
You should really know the lyrics. Please react to "Du hast" live in Paris, Adieu, Deutschland, dicke Titten etc. Very different songs..

The newer Rammstein videos with CC/subtitles allow autotranslate by RUclips which are quite decent, otherwise as already mentioned there are other subtitled versions of the older videos.
BUT - even if you have the subtitles, the ambiguities often are lost. In case you want to research the lyrics, try multiple sites as well as multiple tranlation engines.
Zeit = time.
I recommend using subtitles for Rammstein. Sometimes this helps understanding Rammstein :)
