Hey fam can you put your inserts returns and cues thru the patchbay and if so where would you route them? Example would the inserts go in the ins on patchbay and would the returns go on outs of patchbay or no??? Trying to figure out the routing on my Mpc X with my big ssl six and my patchbay. I might just get you to route my whole studio fam😂… Holler back at me
Hey ponchy. Do you have signal crossing channels on your patch bay. I ask because I have all my outboard gear, ssl six my 500 series rack ect. And I notice when send signal out of my ssl 6 through patch bay Samson s patch and I notice that the signal is not balanced. One side usually the left side is slightly hotter. Usually when passing that signal through the patch bay I notice even my 500 series rack shows signal even when I’m not using some of the modules. I have 8 in total let’s say if I’m using six of them the other 2 shows signal and I’m not even passing sound through them leading me to believe sound is bleeding through the patch bay or my 500 series chassis.
Big Six for sure but not to say there’s anything wrong with the x4’s preamps. The SSL preamps are super clean and transparent though so if you want some preamps that could potentially color your signal then the x4 has the option to do that by using the preamp emulations with the Unison preamps in the console software.
Thx mate 👍 just got a big six, thinking also to hook it up to a patchbay. What I‘m missing is kind of a multi to route a source to different places. Anyway, fortunately Totalmix does the job
you definitely don't have to. The straight ones should work fine. I always have a mini snake plugged into my xlr inputs on my Big Six going to my patch bay and they don't take as much stress from being vertical. You can see which ones I use in my Big Six vids.

Big Six for sure but not to say there’s anything wrong with the x4’s preamps. Glad to help. Patchbay is the way to go! There is a way to create a mult within your patch bay by just routing the different channels into each other.
