I started out using credit cards but the new credit cards are so flimsy that I found a thicker piece of plastic. I just drilled a hole at the end then cut and used a grinder to get a shape that worked for me.
I use a stiff metal rib and I sell them on my Etsy shop. www.mudslingerpotterydac.etsy.com. If you follow me on Instagram I have images of them and videos that I am using them. Thanks for watching

I am glad to see a longer video here. I wanted to watch your beginner video series that you did on Instagram but couldn’t catch the live stream.
Thanks for watching. You can still watch my Pottery 101 series as they have been loaded to my Instagram page.
Good to see you back, slinger! Make sure to show us how it looks when it comes out of the kiln.
I will try to remember to do that. Thanks for watching.
Thanks I hope to do some more of these. I have downloaded the Pottery 101 series to my Instagram so you can still see the videos on my Instagram.
How did you make the tool from the hard plastic that helps you form the foot? Thank you.

Can you show the tool you used for the skirt again. Thanks

Thank you for the video! Can you tell me how much clay you use for a mug, and the dimensions of the mug, after you get handle on?
I will vary the amount of clay when making mugs so I can get a variety of sizes. The one in the video is 1 lb 2 oz and is about 4” by 4”.
I struggle getting the skirt at the bottom centered. I cone up and down just fine but the clay by the wheel head stays uncentered. Any tips?
Take a sponge and hold it at the bottom until it cleans up the extra clay and gets centered before you start to make your pull.
