    I don’t have a kiln yet, but I desperately want one. I’m not able to fire anything until I can get one. I’ll surely be implementing if I’m ever able todo so. This is jotted down in my notes to use when I can. Btw, I’m in NC too, just east of Raleigh.

      Great, this tip has been a pot saver for me. I have not had any pots blow up in the bisque since I learned about this. Hope you find a kiln soon and can start firing from home. Thanks for your comment.

      For me the smaller items allow me to have a conversation and maybe encourage them to come out to other shows. It is always easier to sell to someone who has purchased before if you are making quality work.

    How did you make the tool from the hard plastic that helps you form the foot? Thank you.

    • @MudslingerPotteryDavidClark
      @MudslingerPotteryDavidClark 2 месяца назад

      I started out using credit cards but the new credit cards are so flimsy that I found a thicker piece of plastic. I just drilled a hole at the end then cut and used a grinder to get a shape that worked for me.

      I like to run it before I get to the studio to help clear the air before I start working. It might be best to point it out a window but sometimes it is too hot or cold for me to open a window. Either way will help to clean out the small dust particles just use a good filter.

      I will vary the amount of clay when making mugs so I can get a variety of sizes. The one in the video is 1 lb 2 oz and is about 4” by 4”.

    I like your list of weights to match the item made, I'm just a once a week adult ed student, class starts back end of September so I'm brushing up my 'how to do' watch list of videos, I make one off pieces, because I see something and think how can I do that, every term I plan to make a set of 4, that I'm happy with but it all takes time, I'm too hard on myself, but I love my clay adventure so keep going back. This term, breakfast bowls set of 4, going to go for it , keep everything crossed, I'm glad I found your channel, new Potter to me, thankyou😊

    Thankyou for a great 'how to' love the foot, will try your idea to cut a card to make that rounded foot, seen in another of you videos, is that a little lady bug under the handle, just finishes the mug off. Thanks😊

      I have used old credit cards but most are not very sturdy which is why I use the thicker plastic. Not a lady bug just a red bead. Thanks for watching.

      Take a sponge and hold it at the bottom until it cleans up the extra clay and gets centered before you start to make your pull.
