It probably sounds weird to a non-native speaker, but the song is about “catching pokemon” and being “the very best trainer”.
The English version takes me back to the good old days. Here in The Netherlands they still use the English openings, so eventho we didnt know what it meant we still sang along. Love it :3

Omg. The Korean version is soooooo different than what I expected. I grew up listening to the Japanese and American version, so it feels weird hearing it in a different language especially since the style is so different.

It's cool to see different versions of the songs! I recognize the original Japanese version, but I've never heard the South Korean one. It's catchy. Glad you liked the American one! It's not exactly the same, but it's very special to me.

아주 먼 옛날 지금처럼 인터넷시대가 아닐때 유선방송의 어느 한 미국전용채널에서 미국판 포켓몬스터 방영하던걸 본적있었는데 그때 그 오프닝과 엔딩곡이 머릿속에 남아있었는데 간만에 들으니 추억 돋네요. 1기오프닝곡은 일본>미국>한국 순으로 마음에 듭니다. 메자세 포켓몬마스터는 넘사벽이죠!

The American Pokemon song is truly iconic. I’m not even American and they kept the theme song. At first it was aired with the American dub. They later Tagalized it but kept the English theme
American one is the best for me, but honestly we're all probably just biased to the ones we remember from our childhoods. Really interesting to see all the differences, though! I was surprised as how unique each one was. You can definitely tell which country is which, haha

What are you talking about, Dave? Pokemon's first opening in English/Spanish was not embarrassing, it's an emotional, and very well made rock song. And no, I'm not American, so I'm not biased, I'm Venezuelan, and we had the same song but in Spanish, and it's epic.

But in the Japanese one, when pikachu goes under the girl with the skirt, the lyrics literally say "I can catch Pokémon under a skirt". That's why pikachu runs under her skirt. Can't take the Japanese serious. Ever! But the Korean ending was cute. Japanese ending was weird. American ending was cool.

The German and French opening have the same melody as the american one and the meaning is pretty much the same as well! It's an interesting comparison to the Japanese and Korean version.
The american version is very much appreciated and it really had the essence of the anime 😊 and the other songs on the pokemon album are catchy too, like one of my favorite, "Together forever"

Something they could've mentioned about the Japanese opening: it was actually sung by Rica Matsumoto, the Japanese voice of Ash (Satoshi). So basically, the main character's singing his own show's theme song.
And the closing song was performed by Suzukisan.
The American Pokemon song is truly iconic. I’m not even American and they kept the theme song. At first it was aired with the American dub. They later Tagalized it but kept the English theme
American one is the best for me, but honestly we're all probably just biased to the ones we remember from our childhoods. Really interesting to see all the differences, though! I was surprised as how unique each one was. You can definitely tell which country is which, haha

What are you talking about, Dave? Pokemon's first opening in English/Spanish was not embarrassing, it's an emotional, and very well made rock song. And no, I'm not American, so I'm not biased, I'm Venezuelan, and we had the same song but in Spanish, and it's epic.

To me the Japanese and Korean openings are not that great and boring. But in the Japanese one, when pikachu goes under the girl with the skirt, the lyrics literally say "I can catch Pokémon under a skirt". That's why pikachu runs under her skirt. Can't take the Japanese serious. Ever!
But the Korean ending was cute. Japanese ending was weird. American ending was cool.

The German and French opening have the same melody as the american one and the meaning is pretty much the same as well! It's an interesting comparison to the Japanese and Korean version.
The pokemon songs in Brazil are the same as the United States but in portuguese, so when played i just sang in portuguese ㅋㅋㅋㅋ
