I can't thank all of you enough for the support on this series. it's been a lot of work but worth it. We basically started the swap/project Feb 1. 2024. I still have a lot of little details working through. And dont worry, this is not the end of seeing this car.. ;)
Sick build Charles!
Spectacular job!
Charles, you are amazing, the car is crazy❤ i love it, makes me miss my sportsvan so bad, seeing your videos makes me wanna buy an mk7/7.5 again i felt your pain when the roofliner didnt go in as it supposed as i did my old passat variant with suede and took me 6 months and 3 roofliners to get it okish, best of luck and enjoy the ride
The engine swap looks factory, great job, not a big fan of the kit but it was an awesome build!
No, we can't thank you enough for all the information and time you have put into these videos! a true blueprint for those who might do similar swaps!
That body shop is top tier, great work 10/10
Agreed. I’m close enough to Holly Springs that I know I’ll contact them if I ever need work done. It’s worth driving an hour and a half or so for that kind of quality.
I thought the same, insane level of detail and care!
Have you seen that orange peel? I wouldn’t call it 10/10 or quality 😂
@ObsydianXshinsoo A lot of new cars come with an orange peel affect to the paint. My 2018 MK 7.5 GTI has the same orange peel affect in the paint and it's pure white. It looks good still. So if they were trying to match the factory "orange peel" look to the yellow paint when it was stock, they did an amazing job. I had a fender replaced on my car, and the body shop told me they have a process that helps them match any factory orange peel.
@bjsmithart I'm in Georgia, but since I travel for work, driving to another state for great mechanical or body work is an afterthought for me. If I ever need any work done, I'll be taking it up there as well. Amazing work.
Remember 9 or 10 years ago when the Golf R400 was lurking around Europe and we were doing the pee pee dance hoping VW would be able to take it across the goal line? Well…thank you Charles for finally taking that baton and winning! Long live the Phoenix!
I'm a volvo guy, but have mad respect for the automotive work and content you create. Well done, fellow 5 cylinder.
Another Volvo guy here with multiple 5cyl vehicles. The "force" drew me to this content. Once you go 5cyl, you never go back.
@@2605155 I went back. To a redblock.
I do miss the 5 cylinder, but my T6 R-design makes me smile too
My project car will totally be a 5 cylinder though.
When you were saying "with some help from my super talented friends" I thought you were going to add "... and Paul." I was kind of surprised you didn't. ;)
Hahaha I can’t bust on him all the time
@@HumbleMechanicOn that note, I was surprised that John’s face wasn’t in the closing B-roll, although you did mention him by name. I know you were short on time for WITW but it did feel like a snub… 🤷🏻♂️
John was in a whole episode with me.
As someone who works on the assembly line at vw, yes i agree with you about the airbag clips.
This was some of the best VW content ever created in my opinion. Vw needs to hire you as the RDCC. (.:R department civilian consultant)
This is no longer a Golf R. It’s a hybrid mix of RS3 and R. A completely different vehicle now. An exercise in technical skill and ingenuity. Many kudos, Sir Charles of long beard!!!
RSR
R S3
Golf RS
This body shop is truly amazing. Great job bringing this car back from the accident it had.
I would SERIOUSLY consider taking my car from NM to him to have him fix a few things from the previous owner and that’s saying a lot
The “finale” … LOL. You know better than that! Such an awesome build. The attention to detail and love for the platform ooozzzzes through. But, projects are never finished.
OTOH, many projects are "never finished" meaning that you never get to the state where the car actually runs. This one is maybe "never finished", but they still "finished" it in ~2 months, which is absolutely incredible!
Whooooaaaahhh ! Man Chuck when i see this thing all done i... i..... i no words to describe my emotions. Maybe im a bit sensitive but it was goose bump and something happens in my eyes like it hitch or something id it feel like it's near to leaks !!!! As always one of the best build ever done with a MK7 R body. Now i look around for 4 years and finally found a engine core CRZA to be build and swap in my mk6 R. So i remind my knowledge with Paul old series FSI build like the time it was very serious in video and look a Teenager!!! Pretty impressive and the best channel for VAG car ever HM. ! Tks for the joyride on this one.
Phenomenal project. Not fully sold on that oettinger-kit, brings flashbacks to the mid-2000's and some polos 6n2 and 9n* that drove around in the carscene here in Denmark. By coincidence they were also yellow 😊
Absolutely incredible build Charles!
I love that Juan is like, as long as you didn't scratch my paint... Just shows you how much work is involved and how close you get to all projects.
You are beyond a “Humblemechanic.” You’re a great showman and automotive show personality. You deserve that car because you make a difference. Great guy with a great car.
A plan (despite it ever evolving), hard work (snafus, setbacks, etc), good friends/family, and patience make dreams come to fruition. Nicely done.
Beautiful. Please wrap that beaut with PPF and ceramic coat it as well. Protect it!
My weekly dose of "reminding myself to never attempt any sort of engine swap on a modern euro car"
Love this series! Really stoked on the air ride too, I consider it a guilty pleasure as well 🤣
I can't remember a time where I was waiting all week for a RUclips video to come out, this build is excellent and the series has been amazing!
A true one of a kind -- just like its owner. Congrats to everyone involved in this mind-blowing project. And thanks for recording it all for posterity. I'm happy you were able to finish it safely with WITW serving as a "deadline." Wish I could go and see it in person!
How is it one of a kind bro?
big Golf guy here my first car was a Mk3 VR6 . Always wanted a Mk4 or Mk5 Golf R32 or Mk7 Golf R .... Loving that Golf Oettinger kit idk if i like the black pieces that come down the window of the hatch from the wing but congrats on ur dream mk7
One of my favorite projects on RUclips! It turned out SO GOOOOOOOOD! Great work to everyone involved and especially to you for those long, hard, tough nights into long early mornings. It DEFINITELY all paid off! Holy WOW!!!!
DUDE THAT CAR LOOKS FREAKEN WICKED..... I'M NOT A FAN OF BODY KITS BUT U SMASHED IT WITH THIS ONE MAN. PROPS TO ALL THAT HARD WORK CHARLES
You did nail it. I hope VW is watching some how and learn what us enthusiasts would pay for. I don’t care how much this car would cost. I would buy one. Thank you
Charles for the awesome content.
Thank you! I wish vw cared about enthusiasts.
@@HumbleMechanicI think they do, they just don't make cars for them. I highly suggest taking a look at the Golf 5 GTI W12-650, it's parked in the museum in Wolfsburg and it's beautiful. Seeing that in person changed a lot of what I thought of VW before.
Megan closet has seen it and knows about it although she has moved out of corporate into dealer relations.
That is possibly the best looking golf I’ve ever seen! Well done for getting her back on the road! Enjoy thrashing her in the mountains, look forward to the next video
Love the humble mechanic and has followed his build with that lovely yellow golf from the start, Dazza engine tick, air ride tick, seats and yellow seat belts tick. Wow i'm loving this...then the TCR kit lands...WHAT THE.
That is one grotesque body kit straight up from the 1980's, Oh my such a shame. Great build though.
Daniel do Brasil🇧🇷, outro fanático pelos MK7 e pelo DAZA❤, bom trabalho cara!
Honestly of the *BEST* Golf's I've seen on the Internet!
I never fail to be amazed every time I visit this channel. Outstanding piece of beauty right there.
Love the car but I agree with you in ep4 I don’t like air ride. Never have. But never the less the car is outstanding. Definitely different.
This really gives me classic Horsepower TV vibes. It’s produced so well.
Love the car! Hope to see at SEMA.
Honestly this is one of the best automotive channels
Thank you Charles, Paul & Juan for sharing this incredible VW Golf mk 7.5 retoration/ modification project with your viewers.
There's been an insane amount of hard work put into this project over the past few weeks & the end result is amazing!
IMHO the Oettinger body kit looks great, especially in that fabulous yellow colour, but like you, Im not sure about the air ride suspension.
I'm sure there's still many small things, adjustments, etc. to be done on the car, so will reserve judgment until after the rebuild is complete.
In the meantime, enjoy the Wookie in the Woods weekend.......you've earned it!! 👍👍👍
Respekt! Komme aus Deutschland noch nie einen Golf 7 von Oettinger gesehen!
The Oettinger Golf 7.5R was always my dream golf. You smashed this build and made it the ultimate golf mk7 by Rs3, swaping it. It looks absolutely stunning and classy. Well done on the great work, and I'm looking forward to more content on this car. Please, would you consider going for an Oettinger Wheel if possible.
Killer build. It’s been an awesome series to watch. It’s going to blow minds at Wookiees
I hope Charles hits 1 Million subscribers from this. This is just awesome. So bummed I cant make Wookies this year. Congrats
Audi did build the perfect golf r and they named it rs3 😂
But in the US it was a Jetta 🤣
@@HumbleMechanicin Europe we got the proper version of the Audi RS3 WITH a hatch
@@maverick4177 The only one that should have been made in my opinion :)
Whaaaat? Did you guys get the sedan only??
@@Swedish_John_Wick yes usa and canada no hatch
AMAZING SAGA. My dream golf R build. Glad you got your MK7.5 back and better than ever. Have fun at Wookies everyone.
Congratulations Charles....Bravo my Friend....Bravo😎👍👍
Thanks for all of your hardwork with this wonderful build series, it was very well done, and I appreciate all the effort you put into the car, as well as the editing for the series. Perfect way to enjoy a morning cup of coffee. Thanks Charles!
Just amazing. Purely amazing. Wish I could afford to buy one or build one. It looks perfect
The work this shop does is outstanding!
Am Umar from Uganda. Am an ardent fan of this channel. i really appreciate the work you do. From this project
am convinced that rebuilding a golf is not for a faint heart.
25:48 The suspense and drama killed me, haha. It looks so good! I can't wait to see more of it. Why do you have to be so inspiring to work on our own cars? I need a garage... Hope to bring my R32 to WITW one year.
This is the most professional and attention to detail wide body install I’ve ever seen, everyone should strive for that level of detail. Amazing!
This is the meanest badass R out there on this planet 🌎 hands down 💯
I audibly gasped when you showed the seatbelts 😂
Damn that's the best looking Golf I've ever seen. Stunning workmanship!
Unbelievable work. I wish I could be this skilled in a trade some day.
Well done Charlie's and everyone who helped, amazing build ❤
Juan and his crew=amazing
Can't say the bodykit Is my cup of tea. It Definitely needs bigger wheels, gloss black to tie it in to the rest of the accents.
Everyone involved is a master class in their own craft. I’m especially blown away by Juan and the body work. The paint match is unbelievable!
HUMBLE!!! Good moring. 😊
Waiting from Canada!🇨🇦
What a monster. I’m jelly!!!! Enjoy the ride brotha.
I gotta be honest. When you did the air suspension and body kit I wasn’t thrilled. But seeing the end product I get it. It is truly amazing what you guys pulled off. Having done the most minor version of a retro fit on some of my vehicles in the past I have a lot of respect for your ability to wire and integrate all of the Audi pieces to the golf. You have built a masterpiece. Respect. 🫡
Congratulations Charles. You now have the best golf r ever made. And you made it yourself (with help of course)
Waiting in South Africa🇿🇦
me to and i whise i can make a car look like dat
Waiting in CONNECTICUT!!!! Can't wait for the reveal!!!!
I'm in Maine, I drove to CT and back yesterday to pick up an oettinger mk5 front bumper
In my opinion it is the best, cleanest and most professional rs3 swapped Golf R I have ever heard of… 💪
I remember tagging Oettinger in your rebuild ideas post forever ago, seeing it done now is 1000% the best way it could have been redone. Hopefully this car roars into Lo’e Show, I need a picture of this next to my Oettinger R32
yeaaaaaasssss
Waiting here Brazil 🇧🇷!!! Let’s gooo Dude
I love how many new folks from Brazil there are!!!!
Those bronze wheels look good, but gloss black would go better, imo. Can't wait to see what's next. Thanks Charles. 👍
Btw, the Golf RS3 looks amazing. How does it drive with those wheel spacers?
Charles, I think this is easily the coolest series you've made. Along the way we got to see a lot of of the hilarious moments with Paul, the amazing work that Juan and his team did on the body, and John's awesome air ride skills. I can't imagine how satisfying it is having all of this completed. The cost means nothing in the end, as long as it was everything you wanted and worth it to you. Great work man, I loved watching this whole transformation and the car looks sick!
My goodness Charles, this is truly a better outcome than I ever could have hoped for after seeing the wrecked R. Major kudos for completing this build in such a crazy fast amount of time at this level of workmanship. Car looks and sounds fantastic and I'm sure it's even better to drive. Definitely up there with the coolest R's of the planet. Hope you get some time to properly enjoy it!
Difficult not to watch your show
thank you!
That body kit is very disappointing
You're very disappointing.
I’m coming here for my body work and I’m from Toronto lol he’s focus. Loved that
Hell yeah Charles. I was prepared to hate the body kit, but it looks awesome. Great job man!
This is my new favorite VW out there!! You killed it!!! They really should have had this spec available for purchase!
Awesome, Just awesome! And Im not a fan of yellow....but that right there is a Yellow anyone would want!! Congrats, hard work well rewarded !
This is by far the cleanest and most well done swap I’ve ever seen. No corners were cut on this build and it shows. Amazing work!
From ultimate sadness to exotic beauty. Glad it's back together!
Juan and crew did an incredible job in the car. The car looks awesome 👏
Amazing work by everyone, the car is looking absolutely fantastic! Looking forward to seeing more of it!
I saw this car for the first time after the initial accident. Next time was last week at Wookies. If you remember, I mentioned how good it looked during the weekend. Also asked you how to break into my MKV R32 after locking the keys in. It’s amazing to see the transformation. When I got home after Wookies, I watched all the vids to see how it happened. Good job Charles!
Thanks man!!! Glad you got into your car. I’ve been working on my lock picking skills. So next year it won’t be an issue haha
Charles, kudos on this, it really looks amazing! As an OEM paint engineer, I REALLY enjoyed seeing the level of detail Juan puts into his work. He's very good. The car sounds great, can't wait to hear some of the horsepower specs once you get it tested.
Omg I fall in love with this golf
I think it looks great and it’s one of the best builds with an oem feel, hats off to humble mechanic and all the guys who worked on the car it looks great 👍
Absolutely nailed it this thing is beautiful
So nice to see someone cut the body and fill/weld it properly for a change!
Incredible transformation. Can’t wait to see this up close! 👏👏
Mixed feelings about the body kit… everything else top notch!!
That’s a fair thing. I was that way all until I saw it done. Instantly was happy haha
Wow, Premieir. That's some top-quality workmanship right there. Great job!
Loved this series! Can’t wait for the next one!
Dude that car is nutty! Awesome work
Headliners are a pain in the arse!
She is absolutely insane! Totally awesome build.
Juan and company... Speechless.. The amount of talent and perfectionism.. Absolute rock star!
I feel this to my core about hitting the ultimate sadness. Late night in the studio in art school would often get like this.
Wow, this was so impressive to watch and to see the attention to detail every person involved in this build had is inspiring. Incredible job!
I have absolutely loved this series, especially since i am a VAG guy myself - sadly my cars never made it to the US, a 2012 RS3 8P and a 2013 RS6 C7. One of my big dreams is to take one of them into a container and drive the North American continent thin on my danish plated cars. - Me aside, huge props to you Charles for doing this work in such a short timeframe, hope to see another video from WITW and you answering all the questions this series accumulated. Best regards from Denmark!
This was a bas ass build. I hope yall make another one like it. Juan is really a master at his craft. Car looks flawless. Congrats
That front end is mean! Plus can’t beat the sound of a DAZA what a monster car congrats and enjoy
Freaking Sick,what transformation,the sound,love
Well Done, Charles. Seriously, you guys knocked this out of the park. I hate I can't be at wookies to see it in person, but I'm hopeful you bring it to AVF.
What a build Charles, the level of workmanship from start to finish is other-worldly man 👌, so great to watch and captured in such detail as well. Keep the builds coming, you and your automotive buds are all legends 🤌.
This is the most beautiful golf I’ve ever seen.
Heck yes, we love seeing this come to life!
