Nothing fake about John. Born in Glasgow Scotland, moved with his family to America at the age of 8. Developed an American accent to prevent being bullied about this native Scottish one. Aged 21 & on holiday in the UK he was urged to try for the role in the musical Anything Goes & the rest is history.😊
