She tried to escape and forget about Henry's death by running away on the boat between seasons but Daryl forced her to stay, and she is still trying to run away from it again. When you think about it, if he was actually dead, it's basically impossible for them to find him. He could've been put down and burned by some other group and there is no way Daryl would know. So when you look at it from this perspective, it basically makes no sense for Daryl to keep looking for him especially years afterwards. The point is that Daryl was using the pointless search for Rick as an excuse from facing the fact that he's gone. Carol was using the boat trip and the hunt in this episode for the same thing. Daryl was running away just like Carol was. Lines like "It's gonna catch up to us eventually" being said by Carol in the present and Daryl in the past, and "Only if we let it" being said by Leah in the past and Daryl in the present, show the similar state of mind that Daryl was in and Carol is right now, and it shows us that Leah helped Daryl realize where he is supposed to be, Daryl is trying to do the same for Carol but she keeps refusing to listen and continues to try to run from Henry's death.
And that’s the problem. How are we supposed to enjoy or support a relationship for a very important character when we only saw that relationship play out in one episode.

I really hope not. The show is supposed to be about Daryl and carol, not any other relationship. I think they will bring Leah back in season 11 in some way but I doubt she’ll be in the spin-off.
as a donnie shipper i'm not too worried about leah getting in the way because all this happened before daryl even met connie and even after everything with him and leah, daryl still shown interest in connie
Your face at the end when Carol and Daryl were putting it all out there. Priceless. I think with all the time jumps it was confusing, but I think Daryl spent quite a bit of time intimate with Leah. More than we think. Great reaction as always
Now this is entertainment I look forward to theese just as much as the episodes ♥️ I kinda feel like this episode was a bit rushed would've loved to see this storyline over two episodes
Looking back to after the time jump when Daryl comes back to civilization, he is more open, communicates more, etc. Originally, we thought is was because he was stepping up to take Rick's place. With seeing this flashback, I think it explains his transformation and his time with Leah really influenced him
It's been years since I watched your channel, between covid and shut downs, I didn't even realize TWD was back on. Then I reached back into the world, and caught up. My first thought, after this episode, was what does Katie think. Thank you for keeping this alive.
I think the point of the story here was less about Leah, and more about Carol. Otherwise, why would they have incorporated Carol into this episode. The parallel versions of shared conversations between Daryl & Leah, and Daryl & Carol mean something more is going on between the "friends". I find it interesting that Daryl didn't make his decision to stay with Leah until Carol told Daryl that she was going to be around less because she plan to spend more time with Ezekiel (& Henry). And, he didn't go off on her until after she found the note he left for Leah. I haven't "shipped" the two together since season 3, and that was just briefly. As time passed, I thought 'Nah, it's too late; so unlikely.' But there have been clues dropped that people are ignoring. I liked Connie, and thought she could be good for Daryl, but she & Leah could just be a distraction for Daryl. Great reaction, Katie.
@@burrichgrrl57 I don’t really ship them either. Too little, too late, I say. But can't deny the subtle signs that something more is going on. Frankly, I think Carol or Daryl, or both, might die before the series end. Despite the rumors AMC is spreading about a spin-off. I don't think it's happening. It doesn't make sense. BTW...thanks for your polite comment.
I think it really helps that they are such good friends in real life. They have a great chemistry between them and I can’t wait to see their spin off show.
Loved this episode. So good. Also not sure why so many people find it weird that he was with Leah for a while. During this time it made complete sense. Not weird at all. Great character growth. People need to chill the hell out and stop living your lives based on “shipping” character. Just relax, people. It was *NOT WIERD* or contradictory *AT ALL.* Also they spent 10 months together. Not just a couple days)
You never do hear anyone complain about normal shite.I agree.Once,I would love to hear Neegan say he has a problem sleeping because his right nostril gets clogged or congested at night.
This episode is just a lot to take in. It's actually really well written and believable that Daryl and Leah would get together. Both are broken and lonely when they meet and they both come from broken families. They actually have a lot in common and as we see Daryl was hella awkward when they were forced to physically be close. But like holy hell writers WE JUST MET HER 20 MINUTES AGO! Like it took them like a year to get close so yeah it's believable Daryl could get to this point but we don't really know her at all, so it all hits us so fast. It wasn't poorly written or put together, quite the contrary, it was just a lot to take in in just one episode. But with all the time jumps it felt rushed, even though it wasn't at all. This is definitely the weirdest TWD episode ever.
I was frustrated when i first saw this but when you see the next D&C episode in 10c and season 11, I know this will all make sense by the end of season 11.
Daryl got a sex offering from carol when they just got to the prison.then he was working on connie, until, she come up missing.then he (it seems) finally got it on with leah.question,..is...and some people are asking now, could there be a knocked up leah, showing back up at some point.dont imagine, anyone is up on birth control at this point,in the apocalypse.
Gonna add the online theories here. Norman has said in interviews that Leah is not what she seems. She has a special forces tattoo and the knife she uses to cut Daryl loose is the knife he gives to Carol (seen in promo photos for 10x21 Diverged) and that Carol seems to be using to repair something (also from 10x21 Diverged promo photo). Leah also refers to her "squad" that she fought with from before the turn and that they stayed together after the Turn. I think she is either a Reaper or possibly CRM. Remember in TWD World Beyond... Huck was under deep cover to befriend Felix and to get Hope to the CRM headquarters and pulled very sketchy stuff. So this is all very intriguing.
Omg I was feeling the exact same way as you were! For fucks sake! I had no feelings towards that lady! I was furious about the fact that she made ultimatums for my boy! What the hell? Like he would leave her family for this woman he knew for a fucking few minutes!!?? What the heck?? I hated it! I loved the baby Dog. I loved that he called Rick his brother... The rest of it? Bullshit. I want to erase this nonsense off of my head. Too rushed. If we saw this happening during these two seasons, I would buy this. This was just stupid.
I don't have any remorse for her for the same reasons you stated...we just met here. But I feel awful for Daryl. Everything he's been through since we met him. Cutting himself off after Rick's death, then meeting someone who apparently brought him real happiness for the months they were together...only to have her leave like that. I've been on the receiving end of someone literally going poof on me and it is some gut wrenching shit. He's endured so much. I honestly think if it weren't for Judith he would have bounced a long ass time ago.
Keith One thing I find strange is how little the reactors I have watched have any reaction to the scene where Daryl thinks he's found Rick's body. Honestly my heart dropped and then the scene with the storm? It really broke my heart yet no one has mentioned it so far in my perusings.
That was a great episode IMHO. I love it when writers upset fan expectations. We forget that with a show like this we only see vignettes of the characters lives. We didn’t see anything of what went on with their lives for 5-6 years, so it’s eminently possible something like this would have happened Darryl obviously was Leah as a kindred spirit. They were together for 10 months it seems (according to the captions in the show). His guilt over leaving is obviously what has helped him to learn to stay around the communities once Carol got him back And it’s really good that he’s expressed what everyone has been feeling about Carol.... Angela Kang has been absolutely brilliant at sending the show in directions that make fans confront their comfortable notions of characters, what they do, who they are with, who is right & wrong etc. if only TWD had her running the show a few seasons earlier!
Katie, you're totally right in your opinion!! It's spot on!! You don't have to be a writer to know a character. All you have to have is your own thoughts, feelings and imaginations about the show. These writers were mixing their medications or they ran out.
Kate is right about this chick. Even though we just met her, the writer's should have hinted about her existence like about 10 episodes ago. Not just dumb a complete stranger and giver her history with our favorite character and expect us to be emotionally invested in her. Good catch Kate....
They actually did hint about her. Melissa mentioned it on Talking Dead. Her and Daryl were having one of their conversations and she mentioned about "Her dog." I don't remember the exact episode but I do remember going "What?" "Who's her?" when I saw it....
Scenario: Connie eventually shows up and she and Daryl rekindle their budding relationship then one day Leah shows up to Alexandria with baby Daryl... aaand discuss. (btw, from the time Leah captured Daryl and the time she came up missing/gone, 27 months elapsed so a little more than just 5 minutes).
Rumor is that Leah is actually pregnant and that's why she made Daryl choose. Leah could show up at the commonweatlh, taking over Michonnes daughters role in a sense, but its Daryl that finds her and maybe a kid as well. Rumor is a little tough however, considering the spin-off. I couldn't really see Daryl leaving his own kid behind, no matter how safe they were... UNLESS its for Rick, to find him after finding out about his location.
I feel like Leah will appear in S11 at the commonwealth, maybe Daryl will take the michonne story line, where she finds out her daughter is still alive at the commonwealth. Instead it’s Daryl finding out Leah is still alive at the commonwealth
Season 9 episode 14 michonne asks daryl if he's ok being alone while their out looking for Rick, he's reaction says it all.. Maybe that's the answer we're all looking for 🤔 awesome reaction as always!
I don't think choosing Leah was out of character for Daryl considering this is the 'flashback version' of him, which was in a very vulnerable emotional state. At that point of time, he was still doing his self-exile thing and was holding a tremendous amount guilt for playing a role in Rick's "death". Meanwhile he sees Carol and everybody else starting to move on with their lives, and I kinda get why he thinks it's better if he just goes away. Keep in mind he didn't really return to his place in the communities until s9 after Carol and Henry visit him in the woods.
@@joanneweller8881 yeah, I feel like they made a very intentional choice to not show any real intimacy between them on-screen. Idk, the amount of people I've seen who seem to be under the impression that the show wants them to like their relationship is just a little odd to me - I always got the sense that it was pretty toxic and the show itself portrayed it as such.
@@bucket399 well angela kang said there would have been an uproar showing after only knowing character for half an episode. It all makes sense now. Angela kang shows the relationship info in season 11 recaps and then confirms it was toxic after season 11 episode 8.
I think you missed the implication here. He knew Leah for at least a couple of years. And they were together for around ten months after that. They could have done a better job of explaining that. No hate meant at all! I'm just trying to help :). I do think it's weird that they had Daryl's first romantic encounter be with someone we've never met before. As a Donnie shipper, I'm not really worried about it. Even Carol said she saw something between them.
I think Daryl's "relationship with Leah" is him trying to come to terms with himself and all he's lost. Because you're right. This romance with someone outside the group is not Daryl.
Five minutes for us = a couple of years for Darryl. So technically it wasn't after 10 years he's with her, he took time to trust her; he's no fool. Remember that time jump started at 5 years earlier. I think she's the reason why he liked Connie but kept a little distance between them. And the way she gave him that ultimatum I'm guessing it's because she thought or knew she was pregnant. They may be setting up a love triangle once they find Connie. Depending on whether or not Leah was taken or left on her own accord.
Daryl acted incredibly out of character in this episode. Also, it makes no sense for him to be so resentful towards Carol when he told her 2 episodes ago that they could still go to New Mexico and hugged her. Not to mention he went through the same thing as her with the whole punching Negan thing so he knows how guilty she feels. I'm not saying no one should be mad at Carol because she did fuck up a lot, but Daryl out of all characters should understand her and empathize with her. They've been friends for 10+ years after all.
EXACTLY! Why is no one talking about this? That part of the writing is so bad imo. He tells her two episodes ago that she still has him as a friend and now he's telling her she's on her own if she wants to leave? They should've had this conversation before that moment because it felt a whole lot like forgiveness. He knows how many children she lost and no one is gonna be in the right state of mind after something like that. Honestly Carol deserved to release her feelings just as much as he did because has not been perfect either. They both had stuff that needed to hear.
i think daryl was right to say that to carol, she’s not been a great friend to him and not properly apologising for what happened to connie when daryl is *always* there for her.
@@doodoorantsandreviews6767 he has a right to tell her she should've left forever? to say that to her best friend in the whole world? their bond has *always* been stronger than this. it really feels forced for him to stay so mad after carol already made peace with both kelly and lydia in 10B. she led the horde towards the cliff and has been helping rebuild too. if she hadn't made amends then that conversation would've been believable, but she did. daryl knows she's been feeling like shit for all the people she got hurt and he's been in the same position as her too with glenn's death. he just looks like a hypocrite and a bad friend to me. especially after we saw how understanding of *his* grief carol was in the flashbacks. this episode made 10x16 seem useless. he literally told her days before that "you still got me" and that they could still go to new mexico. how is that good and consistent writing?
zevranalenko Perhaps Daryl feels he has been supportive of her over quite a period of time that Carol was acting in reckless ways and he has just had enough.
New hair looks adorable! But yeah, it definitely felt sort of odd pushing some random woman onto Daryl, but at the same time it was a few years with only moments being shown of what happened between them. I couldn't really feel for Leah since we don't know much about her, but it was still pretty powerful to see Daryl's actions and feelings.
I honestly hope not. I think her coming back is warranted because just a one off act doesn’t make sense. Bit her coming back with a new squad maybe. It makes sense. I think she saw even daryl had a family. She was hurt he didn’t choose her. She went to find her own family/squad. For her to get Pregnant? No. Lazy writing. But her coming back is a new choice potentially for future daryl.
This Darrell and Carol show is setting up the spinoff after TWD ends. But obviously they patch up their differences before The End since AMC has already announced the new D & C show. Leah happened between Rick being taken by the World Beyond people and the Whisperer War. Bet she reappears. The Commonwealth arc is going to set it all up.
for clarity, Daryl and Leah knew each other for years before the whole "who do you belong with" talk. shame they can't exactly earn the audiences full love and care for a new character by showing a lot of flashback cutesy scenes. but it did establish Daryl's sexual orientation and that he can have feelings for people more than just friends
I agree that it was quick between Daryl and Leah but I think we need to keep in mind that it was a massive time jump. So there's lots of things we won't be able to see. I would honestly rather see him end up with Connie cause their connection is more natural than something from a time jump.
This was a great character-driven episode; I think we'll see more of this woman in the Darryl/Carol spinoff show, which I look forward to, although I'll be surprised if it runs more than two seasons tops. A post apoc novel I'm recommending these days: The Country of Ice Cream Star, by Sandra Newman. It's written in a strange Senegalese/English dialect that takes some getting used to, but once it clicks for you, it's quite lovely. And the story and characters are very engaging. Your new hair color suits you well. Stay safe!
Personally, I liked it. It's much more unrealistic that he wouldn't fall for a badass loner chick like her. And they took a YEAR to actually get together. Plus, you gotta admit, she's kinda right up his alley. And when Daryl Dixon throws a fish at your door, that's courtship, man.
Prediction: Daryl and Leah (and possibly Daryl's son) find each other in season 11. It makes the most sense, and with regards to possibly Daryl's son, it would also explain the focus on the death of Leah's son.
the fact that he waits so long to make a move and then throws a dead fish in her house is so Daryl
Come on an there are no fast food restaurants. It's his way of talking her out to dinner.

I really hope not. The show is supposed to be about Daryl and carol, not any other relationship. I think they will bring Leah back in season 11 in some way but I doubt she’ll be in the spin-off.
Leah will probably appear Somewhere in the Future!
They (Daryl and Leah) both so desperately want to be alone, but also be with people.
Reminds me of The Station Agent with Peter Dinklage.
I don't often disagree but I really liked this episode and the whole Daryl-Leah thing a lot
as a donnie shipper i'm not too worried about leah getting in the way because all this happened before daryl even met connie and even after everything with him and leah, daryl still shown interest in connie
I 100% agree with u I love daryl and connie together I ship them😁
agreed!!
Your face at the end when Carol and Daryl were putting it all out there. Priceless. I think with all the time jumps it was confusing, but I think Daryl spent quite a bit of time intimate with Leah. More than we think. Great reaction as always
I dig the new hair color. Also, I laughed at the fish thing for 5 minutes, it's the most Dixon thing ever.
I actually really liked this episode, I’m happy they finally gave Daryl a girl
When Daryl went off on Carol it was brutal to watch
yes, i just dont want a spin-off with daryl and carol all bitching at each other
Now this is entertainment I look forward to theese just as much as the episodes ♥️ I kinda feel like this episode was a bit rushed would've loved to see this storyline over two episodes
Same here. I look forward to her reaction videos as much as the new episodes. She is the best.
Hoping both Daryl and Carol find happiness
Looking back to after the time jump when Daryl comes back to civilization, he is more open, communicates more, etc. Originally, we thought is was because he was stepping up to take Rick's place. With seeing this flashback, I think it explains his transformation and his time with Leah really influenced him
I just have to say, that one scene with puppy “Dog” kissing Daryl was everything ❤️
Great Reaction. I love that the first word you say is DOG. We all love DOG.
Also love your new hair color.
Dog deserves an Emmy. 🐕
Don't worry, I cried when Daryl called Rick brother
It's been years since I watched your channel, between covid and shut downs, I didn't even realize TWD was back on. Then I reached back into the world, and caught up. My first thought, after this episode, was what does Katie think. Thank you for keeping this alive.
He didn't meet Connie yet so I'm fine with it.. Good episode.
Same. Maybe Leah opened his heart more towards Connie.
@@KCohere33 yeah and that won’t end well
I think the point of the story here was less about Leah, and more about Carol.
Carol and Daryl will never be a couple let it go.
angie 808 Agreed. No ship with me either but I just wrote almost the same comment a few minutes ago, lol.
You won't throw up Katie! The instinct of self preservation will overcome most and all obstacles!
I loved this episode! Daryl deserves some love.
Daryl basically Spend 17-18 Months looking For Rick and seeing Leah a few times and then Spend 10 Months with Leah!
I was with you I had tears in my eyes when Daryl said he was looking for his brother,,that's the first time he's ever said it aawwww...
I think Carol had it coming but they will be ok.
I think it really helps that they are such good friends in real life. They have a great chemistry between them and I can’t wait to see their spin off show.
KATIE!! That Hair Though!!!! 😍😍❤️❤️
I love these types of episodes so cool to watch what Daryl experienced after Ricks disappearence
Cue the overload of love for Katie and her hair. Nobody is wrong I love her too 🤣
Daryl and Leah relate to each other so much idk what shes on about
So many similarities between Leah and carol..both losing children..both so strong..both loving on my daryl.
Ever stop to think that Leah is an amalgam of all the people Daryl has loved and lost?
You never do hear anyone complain about normal shite.I agree.Once,I would love to hear Neegan say he has a problem sleeping because his right nostril gets clogged or congested at night.
lmfao
Hy, haven't seen your reaction but I just want to say that I having waiting for this moment. You are the best
❤️
Perhaps the reason they have a lot in common is that one is Tyler Durden and the other is the narrator.
I was frustrated when i first saw this but when you see the next D&C episode in 10c and season 11, I know this will all make sense by the end of season 11.
Stating the obvious, but you are indeed, the best TWD reactor EVER.
@@timothysimmons3714 Leah is the prettiest of the three, that's for sure.
@@GeorgeMetalman I haven't checked, but is that Lynn Collins that played in one of the Wolverine movies
@@timothysimmons3714 Correct
So this is all very intriguing.
when Leah gave Darryl the ultimatum they had met like a year and a half before that and were together for ten of those months
When he gave the fish to her they knew each other nearly 2 years
Fair enough. It's just felt like a lot to cram into one epsiode!
@@katieoshaughnessy8086 it did seem like that. Like your reviews on TWD
Lmao someone’s jealous
@@Horrorlover1978 Nah. More like outrageous 👍
We didn’t see anything of what went on with their lives for 5-6 years, so it’s eminently possible something like this would have happened
Darryl obviously was Leah as a kindred spirit. They were together for 10 months it seems (according to the captions in the show). His guilt over leaving is obviously what has helped him to learn to stay around the communities once Carol got him back
And it’s really good that he’s expressed what everyone has been feeling about Carol....
Angela Kang has been absolutely brilliant at sending the show in directions that make fans confront their comfortable notions of characters, what they do, who they are with, who is right & wrong etc. if only TWD had her running the show a few seasons earlier!
You are the funniest person talking about TWD and I can tell it's natural I wish I had come across your channel sooner
Katie, you're totally right in your opinion!! It's spot on!! You don't have to be a writer to know a character. All you have to have is your own thoughts, feelings and imaginations about the show. These writers were mixing their medications or they ran out.
Daryl: “I belong with you”
Katie: “Who the fuck is she ??????”
😂😂😂😂 Same girl, same!
I hope not , cause then it becomes like a soap opera triangle love story .... 🤔
OMMGG THEN WE’D HAVE A BABY RICK, BABY GLENN AND BABY DARYL😭😭😭😭😭

Repopulating the apocalypse.
@@jannettecuevas2029 Oh, you mean like Rosita, Saddiq, Father Gabriel and Eugene? Like that?
Rumor is that Leah is actually pregnant and that's why she made Daryl choose. Leah could show up at the commonweatlh, taking over Michonnes daughters role in a sense, but its Daryl that finds her and maybe a kid as well. Rumor is a little tough however, considering the spin-off. I couldn't really see Daryl leaving his own kid behind, no matter how safe they were... UNLESS its for Rick, to find him after finding out about his location.
I think Leah realized she was pregnant and that explains the moodiness and giving Daryl an ultimatum... I believe this all ties into their spin off.
Except Leah and Daryl don't have a spin off..Daryl and Carol do.
and this was two years ago?
She's back in Season 11! BTW, Carol should never let the name 'Connie' pass her lips ever again! LOL
Darryl knew her for a year in this episode.
I feel like Leah will appear in S11 at the commonwealth, maybe Daryl will take the michonne story line, where she finds out her daughter is still alive at the commonwealth. Instead it’s Daryl finding out Leah is still alive at the commonwealth
The Leah/Carol similarities and giving Carol Leahs knife. Daryl and Carol are Best relationship and best two characters on TV ever!
Season 9 episode 14 michonne asks daryl if he's ok being alone while their out looking for Rick, he's reaction says it all.. Maybe that's the answer we're all looking for 🤔 awesome reaction as always!
DARYL KNEW LEAH FOR ABOUT A YEAR!
Man I love how you bring a honest home feel to your channel makes it very fun to ⌚
I don't think choosing Leah was out of character for Daryl considering this is the 'flashback version' of him, which was in a very vulnerable emotional state.
Now he knows he belongs in Alexandria but at that time it was easier to be in the woods. Now we know in season 11 it was toxic.
Honestly I don't care who Daryl ends up with whether its Connie or Leah I just want my favorite character to be happy lmao
So excited about ur reaction one of my fav episodes👌🏻😍 btw love ur Hair looks great
I think you missed the implication here.
I think Maggie coming back and seeing her deal with Negan being free and alive has made Daryl rethink his position with Carol.
i think daryl was right to say that to carol, she’s not been a great friend to him and not properly apologising for what happened to connie when daryl is *always* there for her.
3:05 i think because he knew if he even KNEW maybe he was okay he had something to keep fighting for.
This episode was amazing, his acting was unbelievable as usual
totally out of topic but your hair looks so good here. the hairstyle and the colour are so pretty. i stan one chaotic and stylish girl over here
That out the biggest smile on my face dude, thank you so much!
Daryl spent 10 months with her.
I believe she left because she got knocked up and didn’t want that to be the reason he chose her!!! One day she may come back with a Daryl junior!!!
exactly.
I honestly hope not. I think her coming back is warranted because just a one off act doesn’t make sense. Bit her coming back with a new squad maybe. It makes sense. I think she saw even daryl had a family. She was hurt he didn’t choose her. She went to find her own family/squad. For her to get
Pregnant? No. Lazy writing.
But her coming back is a new choice potentially for future daryl.
😳😳 I kind of want that but I wish Connie was with him 😭
Leah connie daryl become a throuple and carol is his side side chick 😂😂😂😂
I enjoyed this episode,Daryl episodes are always interesting to watch
Sorry but it all made sense and I’m hoping for Daryl’s child at some point. Remember, all these eps are is setup for the final season. I love the ep
It’s taken Daryl this long to get a girlfriend ☠️ also I like the new hair! ❤️
7:28 Daryl being Daryl hahaha
I don't know why but i love Katie's new hair:) so cute i swear!
for clarity, Daryl and Leah knew each other for years before the whole "who do you belong with" talk.
shame they can't exactly earn the audiences full love and care for a new character by showing a lot of flashback cutesy scenes.
but it did establish Daryl's sexual orientation and that he can have feelings for people more than just friends
I agree that it was quick between Daryl and Leah but I think we need to keep in mind that it was a massive time jump. So there's lots of things we won't be able to see. I would honestly rather see him end up with Connie cause their connection is more natural than something from a time jump.
leah was like its either me who u have met for 5 secounds or your brother and family like dont make him choose
And that ending line im sure theyll put in the next skybound vid lmao
DARYL IS IN A LOVE TRIANGLE WITH LEAH AND CONNIE!
I personally think its setting up Daryls arc in season 11 and the D&C spinoff.
Katie ain't happy with some stranger getting with her Daryl 🤣
Prediction: Daryl and Leah (and possibly Daryl's son) find each other in season 11. It makes the most sense, and with regards to possibly Daryl's son, it would also explain the focus on the death of Leah's son.
There was a lot of time jumps in the episode, he knew her for like 2 years so not quite 5 minutes 😂
