We are so excited to begin this daily journey here on RUclips at the start of Lent 2024 as we all journey to the celebration of Easter! Thanks for joining us and please share today's video with your family and friends!!! I'm sure they want to travel to Rome today for a bit of beauty and pilgrimage!
All I can say is WOW! What a start to this year’s Roman Station Tour. The apse at 1:12 and the dome featuring St Catherine of Siena at 3:55 were absolutely brilliant. I was curious who the people were in the circular portraits above the “half apse” (I’ve forgotten the proper term) at 1:30 and 2:29. I felt like I was transported back in time during the video and enjoyed it so much. I know this is a lot of work, but I’m so glad to see these places and learn more about our faith. 🙏🏻❤️
Santa Sabina is not originally the christian temple. Santa Sabina originally must be the shrine of Isis and Osiris, because either mosaic depictions of mirrors on it walls (the symbol of Isis) or special orientation of windows looking towards the sunset in the summer solstice from one side and sunrise in the winter solstice from another side (the dates of celebrations of Isis and of Osiris respectively).
@@cruxstationalis this building was the part of former large city villa (villa urbana) and represented oecus - the banquet hall, in which isido-osirian banquets and mysteries took place. But this oecus would be turned to the christian church just in 112 year a.d. as the result of great church reform, according to which the titulus churches were established. Sabina was owner of this villa urbana and she took part in this reform hosting a Christian community on her property.
Very compelling video! 🙏🏻❤️
