  • "That's debatable...Floyd is a good fighter, but I don't think Floyd was better than Sugar Ray Robinson...I don't think Floyd was a better fighter than Joe Louis, just like I don't think Muhammad Ali was a better fighter than Joe Louis...Muhammad Ali was not a complete fighter...he never threw a punch to the body...to me, that's incomplete," stated Bobby Warren, long-time trainer and mentor to Virgil Hunter, who shared his thoughts on how Floyd Mayweather stacked up to some of the all-time greats he witnessed throughout the years. Check it out!

    The fact that Ali never really was a body puncher makes him even more of the GOAT! It speak volumes that he didn't have to have that in his game. However, Mayweather was a complete fighter who could do it all. He confidence and cockiness makes people hate to give him his full credit. Ali was calling himself the GOAT long before he was considered the GOAT. One thing for sure though sure. Mayweather is the GOAT of this ERA! I'm excited to see who's going to be considered the new GOAT of this new era!

      For me the best fighter is someone who has beaten all the stars and champions and remained undefeated with outstanding defense skills. Floyd is definitely on top of the list.

    • @blue24563
      @blue24563 2 года назад +5

      @@markusdeep42 Floyd avoided the top fighters in their prime. Robinson had over 200 professional fights, beat every fighter throughout the 40s and 50s across 4 weight divisions. He was 128-1 at his peak. He was unbeaten from 1943 to 1952 at 3 weights. That was a run of 88 fights (a fight every 5 weeks). His only loss in all that time was to La Motta, a guy who he beat on 5 other occasions, including 3 weeks after that one loss. He lost some fights later in his career (he was still a world champ in the mid-1960s because he was broke and needed the money). Being undefeated doesn’t make you the best. It’s nothing to do with it. Joe Calzaghe was undefeated. So was Marciano. But SRR was the best ‘pound for pound’ by almost any criteria. The term ‘pound for pound’ was actually invented to describe him as the greatest fighter ever.

    This OG right here I give much respect to he knows he knows more than I ever will about boxing, what he's saying about Muhammad Ali I have to take that cuz it's true, and with that being said that goes to show how great Muhammad Ali was because he wasn't a complete fighter and he'd be all the complete fighters was Joe Frazier complete was George Chavalo complete was Ernie Terrell Cleveland Williams Jerry quarry Henry Cooper etc etc what they complete and what do Muhammad Ali do to them, so I guess it seems like I got a little touch on my hair raised up a little bit on the defensive side so I want to offend I don't want to offend I just want to clarify it all them great fighters that you can possibly think of Muhammad Ali was better than them all

    • @glennwilliams7888
      @glennwilliams7888 2 года назад +1

      Because he could beat them all he had what they call the it Factor Jack Johnson Joe Louis Gene Tunny Archie Moore Jersey Joe Walcott all of them, they was all bad men but they couldn't mess with the likes of Muhammad Ali too fast too small of a thinking his repercussion skills was too good his recuperating skills was too good and he can take all that rough tough punishment and as pretty as a girl so now you draw it up

    Saying Ali wasn't; a complete fighter because he didn't go to the body sounds crazy. Ali chose not to go to the body but he was still knocking fellas out! The other man only had to guard his chin but still couldn't escape the sharp shooting Ali. Prime Ali is The Greatest Boxer of all time period.

    • @vantheman1238
      @vantheman1238 2 года назад +1

      No he wasn’t. Do you have any idea how many boxers there have been? Have you ever heard of Henry Armstrong or Benny Leonard? Do you know who Sugar Ray Robinson was? You have to learn about the history of boxing before saying prime Ali was the greatest boxer of all-time period. There are great boxers out there from history who were unbeaten after 70 odd fights and with world title defences behind them. Learn your history first before making the most obvious comment in boxing. Ali is the most famous and had the greatest personality etc etc, however, the greatest boxer not a chance. In 1964 when he beat Liston, Ali was brilliant, his movement was incredible, however, Liston was old and much older then his age on the programme, plus he was well past his 1956 to 1960 peak.

    he knows his boxing, and finally someone admits Ali wasn't a complete fighter, ain't it funny though everything he mentioned Mayweather is great at besides attacking. which if Sugar Ray Robinson fought against some of the guys with great counter ability that came along later he would have had major problems. especially guys with timing and accuracy

      +Raymond Diggs oh yeah the warrior in all of those greats would have fought their hearts out. I was a boxer and you have many styles and different levels of speed. power, etc... but only one master it all. People who don't understand the sport because they have only watched and wouldn't know that speed is power when it's used correctly. you can have speed and know timing or faints. I've also seen floyd have guys off their feet and then let them hang around when he could have finished them. SRR and guys like him paved the way but the game has greatly elevated and this guy although people have negative opinion is a master! I've heard people say his fights are boring and that's because most of them don't know the level of difficulty to make another champion miss by an inch and hit him with two, or to smother a guys punches, short check hooks that are hard to see, great feetwork, slick jab, great body puncher, lead right, over hand right, hook upper cut, angles, he lacks nothing you feel me and he smiles at champions while doing it! simply has never been seen before

      Nobody with any knowledge of boxing thinks Muhammad Ali is a complete fighter in pure textbook terms.
      What made Ali great is that he was able to blend his natural ability and unique style together with two of the most important fundamentals, his jab and his footwork.
      Ali mastered the jab and footwork, which if done well enough, can win fights alone without any other fundamental skills... mix that with all the other natural attributes and ability of Ali's, the speed, reflexes, athleticism, ridiculous self belief, iron jaw, superb conditioning and you have a man that's very hard to beat.
      Ali was also a pretty good combination puncher, had a pinpoint right hand and knew how to throw in the odd hook or uppercut as well and he knew how to tie a man up to avoid one of his weaknesses (fighting inside)
      Ali even went to the body in certain fights (Williams for example) but not too often.
      You don't have to be the most complete to be the greatest or the best 😎

    You can't compare fighters from any Era. Different times, training, regiments, nutrition etc. While I've watched many SRR fights while great IMO (IN MY OPINION) FMJr "Adaptability & Ring IQ INSIDE the Boxing Ring" was second to NONE in the history of boxing & that's not even mentioning his Defense which is "arguably" the greatest Defense boxing has ever seen inside the boxing ring. IDK who would win because in boxing everyone has a "punchers chance" to win a boxing match but I have to favor FMJr due to those 3 things i mentioned also this era is just better overall when it comes to training & athletes.

      There would be nothing close about that fight. The highest weight Mayweather ever fought at was 154 and he only did that about 3 times. Robinson, while past his own prime, was knocking out full fledged middleweights with one punch, Fullmer with a left hook and Graziano with the straight right. Two of the toughest, iron chinned fighters of all time.
      I think Robinson is a better overall fighter than Mayweather anyway, but throw in that size and power advantage as well? Not much chance for a Mayweather win IMO.
