This is the performance that made him take the seat. Kudos to Jesica but the sincerity and the emotion.... it took the half of population's heart.
I love the original, and thought the Kenny Rogers/Sheena Easton duet was kind of pointless. But this cover is probably the best I remember of all on American Idol. I had fallen asleep with the TV on and I woke up to to him sweetly singing this and it made me cry.

This very episode was playing on the TV and my newly found life partner and best friend whom I happened to be blessed to be called his wife and mother to our new born baby girl..as soon as he started singing my husband turned off everything I was cooking for dinner and drug me into the living room and we danced to this song and when it was over my Jason immediately started clapping and said there's our winner. It was less than a year later and I lost my husband and daddy to my baby girl to suicide. She had just turned 2 then, and it is one of the most important memories I still have. And always will. He sang a lot and we danced around alot but our little girl is now about to be 12..and she can't really know where her busting out in random song and being very musically inclined..she got that from him. A song I always to this day listen to this version only..and am grateful for his silliness and forcing that dance. I remember every single moment of that night. All time favorite!!! #suicideawareness
Nothing ever stays the same. I close my eyes and we are holding each other dancing and it seemed to last forever. Great song by a great artist who did win with that song. 💛
My opinion, the best to ever come otta American Idol. I Told my wife when i heard his first audition, he was gonna win it!!!

Listen to the lyrics and how the singer describes their situation and life to the woman. Romance isn't about just long-term relationships. Romance can be just in a single moment. You don't think a night of making love can be romantic or that sex isn't necessarily just some quick, porn-like transaction? The song describes loneliness and living in the moment.
