The Most Mysterious Song On The Internet Remastered by aufr33:
• The Most Mysterious So...
Lyrics:
Like the wind,
You came runnin',
Take the consequence of leavin'.
There's no space,
There's no tomorrow,
There's no senseful new divisions.
Check it in, Tear it out,
Or the sun will never shine.
Paranoid anyway,
In the subways of your mind.
Like the wind,
You're gonna suffer,
Let a smile be your companion.
There's no place,
And there's no sorrow,
In the young and restless dreamer.
Check it in, Check it out,
It's the summer blues,
Tear it in, Tear it out,
It's the real excuse.
- Most likely written by Eli Kane
- Most likely mainly composed by Alvin Dean
(Billy Knight originally said it was his song, but it could have just been his favorite, and Billy's was Pinky Complex.)
Alvin probably wanted the song released somehow. He most likely put it on a compilation album, as Paul Baskerville would collect and play those on NDR2. And don't give me that crap about it not being in the logs, the original tape recording has those frequencies only found on NDR2 broadcasts.
It was also most likely composed differently as many artists put different style songs in an album.
Statues In Motion and The Game both were New Wave and Synthpop (The Game was also Rock). Both included a piano song in their albums (The Game also included a instrumental piece at the end of their second album, the only song without vocals). It's possible Statues In Motion wanted to mix the album up a little more.
Note that I used evidence in my statement, not proof. Evidence is information that supports a claim, and proof is a type of evidence that outright confirms your claim.

Nor is this the confirmed band, nor from 1983 at maximum. The DX-7 didn't become available worldwide until around 1984, and even then, a band thats likely this small and unknown would either have a DX-7 later on (likely after 1985), or have something with the same preset.

We'll never know how many great songs were never recorded. never released, never heard. Glad this one got played at least once and happened to be recorded.
That’s exactly what I was left thinking when going down this rabbit hole. Ironically, this song perfectly encapsulates that melancholic and nostalgic yet hopeful sadness I feel when thinking about those songs forever lost to time.
Before the internet, bands could be working their butts off (playing live, recording demos) and not even be heard of beyond a 50 km radius. It was so different than today. Like a photograph is a snapshot in time, this artist's radio play might have been a one-off that (luckily for us) somebody recorded.
It shows how the internet is helpful. So many up and coming artists are more easily discoverable.
Believe me, talented artists still may work their butts of and not be herd of at all, only now if they are they probably won't get payed. The music industry is so f-ed up largely due to big studios.
That’s the weird thing. Although you are right, there’s somehow still modern day lostwave songs. Like for example, One Love. It’s a song that most people believe came out around 2013 if I’m correct. How a song like that can casually go missing, especially during a time where that style of music was trending, is confusing.
It’s sweet to think about this band getting together as old guys in a cabin and laughing happily at being the ones who created most mysterious song on the internet… and all making SURE it remains that way 💫
Brother the entire band is dead other than one of em.
@@jordy2x_ how do you know?
They didn't create it, idk why this guy posted this saying it is them, the lead singer himself said no, plus if you listen to S I M their style is slightly different, while S I M uses drum machines, like the wind uses real drums
I think so too, whoever made this song wants to keep it mysterious, its been 20 years and thousands of people have been contacted, there's no way someone hasn't recognized it by now
There's just only one surviving member of the band left, George Dalambiras/Alvin Dean, the lead singer, left his home and is now considered a missing person from last couple of decades with either little to no confirmation of him being dead or alive, Illias Mitsakis/Eli Kane, the songwriter died 7 years ago with his last appearance being in a video of S.I.M. performing live in March 2017, Vasillis Paleokostas/Billy Knight is the only surviving member left.
Band members from Statues in Motion confirmed this is not their song.

I'm obsessed with this, it's crazy that a song can end up abandoned like this. I hope something gets confirmed sooner or later.
The vast majority of all art (music, visual, digital, etc...) gets abandoned, lost, or never published. Any long time musician usually has hundreds of songs they never seriously distributed. Most artists have easily 5-10x more lost/abandoned works than published works.
Most of these unpublished/lost works are complete finished peices.
Think of it like this: most music is unrecorded (think of every song song in a bar, living room, music lesson, or around a campfire for example). So only about 5-10% of music gets recorded. Then most of those recorded songs often wind up not being actually published, even the fully mastered and mixed ones. Rick Beato has a good video about this called "The Greatest Song That Ever Went Nowhere".
Long story short, most art is eventually lost. Most music isn't recorded. Then most recorded music isn't preserved or remembered. Significantly more music is lost than actually kept. Statistically the preserved "famous songs" are the rare ones.
@@1lovesoni True, for example Linkin Park had only just released a bunch of demo songs from 2003 that are actually amazing songs that could have been hits

This song wasn’t made by SIM, the former members confirmed it. But there is speculation that one of the band members (Alvin Dean) made it after the band broke up, and some of the other former band members agree that that’s possible, as the voice does sound a lot like his. But Alvin has not been located, so that is just speculation.
well he died
It's true 99%, cause Alvin Dean left the band in 1984, song was written in 1984, synt used in song was made in 1984, so...
@@ivanm4488 Number of 80s alternative singers who sound like Alvin Dean: ALL OF THEM
This could be a demo, passed to a radio host -- who just happened to like it enough to put it on, one time. For all we know, it might be the only song the artist ever recorded. The number of artists WE hear is such a tiny fraction of the overall population of people trying to get up through the industry. Most are never heard beyond a very localized area.

It sounds like an early-20s something male singing over an existing 80s song.
The guy who made this is probably an old ladd chillin in his house not knowing anything about the internet and this
The synth used in Like The Wind was 99% a Yamaha DX7, a synth released in the 1983. According to Whangs video, bilol said the song was made in 1982. It doesn't quite line up, supported by the fact that Billy's accounts are at best, somewhat unreliable. Also props to Billy for releasing his album.
BRO I WATCHED WHANG BEFORE I WATCH DIS
You also have to understand that people are being asked to remember things that happened 40+ years ago. Even if they did write and record the song, you expect them to remember every intricate detail of the recording process, and dates? The face that they said 1982 without any idea of when we approximated the song being recorded because of the Yamaha DX-7 tells me that they're not lying, and just misremembering something that happened 40 years ago.
@FlyingMonkies325 The tape is definitely real. This was verified because the songs recorded from NPR have a faint, high pitch hum at 10kHz. This was verified because there's a small portion on one song where Paul Basker spoke as the song faded out for a second, and that song included the 10 kHz hum. As did "TMMS".
One thing tho, an earlier version of the yamaha dx7 was around in 1982, pretty sure it was the demo version
Something that should be known is that Billy didn't say that he used a Yamaha DX-7, he said he used CS-15 Dual, so that could be another inconsistency, as apparently it may not be possible to produce the same sound on that, that is heard in the the DX7/the song's synth sound.
As a former discographer, this mixing result is stunning, you did a very good job! ❤️

You realise the artist don't know that lots of people are searching for their song, right?
I believe all options are possible - including perhaps someone already came out and said that they did it - or at least know something about - they weren't listened to and gave up without trying to explain.
Maybe the artists are no longer alive , could easily happen from a song that was recorded 40 years ago .
@@Shadowman820 There's no way they're alive (or out of prison). If they were out there, they'd have come forward. Probably a nice cash reward for interviews and plenty of fame.
I lived in Minnesota in the 90s. There was a band that got a lot of airplay there, the Honeydogs. Had some great tunes and made several albums. I assumed they were pretty big everywhere. I moved away from Minnesota in 2003 and now live over a thousand miles away. A few years ago I was feeling nostalgic for those days and decided to look up the Honeydogs on the net, figured it'd be pretty easy to find them, considering I heard them at least as much on the radio back then as The Breeders, the Pixies, Smashing Pumpkins, etc. I was shocked to find out that they were pretty obscure. They were a regional group, mainly known in the Twin Cities, and while in the 90s I assumed they were playing arenas and big stadiums around the country, they were playing local clubs and bar mitzvahs.
Unlike this group, you can find their music on the net. I thought back in the day (and still think) they're one of the best bands I've ever heard and should have been a beloved, famous group with legions of fans. But pretty much no one other than 40 and 50-somethings who lived in Minneapolis/St. Paul in the 90s have ever heard of them. Life is strange and sometimes grossly unfair.
Life is strange and mostly unfair but perhaps in this case you're the lucky one because if you or the band had lived anywhere else in any other time you'd never have heard one of your favorite bands.
I can't say I've heard of them, but I just listened to I Miss You, and it sounds very familiar. I know it sounds like a lot of 90s rock at the time, but perhaps it got some airplay here in Australia somehow, or it just reminds me of other songs.
The Minneapolis scene of music remains one of the most underrated ever. Was great back in the day and continues to be now.
Even in the Twin Cities area they were pretty obscure. Better known in the St Cloud area and SCSU were they were really from, but got a little play in the TC area. I spent a year at SCSU where I learned of them.
Another group for me is The Nadas out of Ames, IA. They're still together and do decent, but they never hit it big.
I, honestly, hope the artist remains mysterious, I always thought that that made this song special, and it just makes the already strange nostalgic and slightly dark vibes of this song the more interesting
Nah!
I could see why people would think this but I don't agree, a lot of people, me included would be happy to finally know or at least to know why it has been hidden

I wish it had been mainstream, it's an amazing piece and I grew up in the 80's (which is hands down the best era of music, with that said of course for my age range. Everyone holds their youth as the best era for music and there is not wrong or right). The piece is simply awesome, I love it!

If this came out 1983ish, 40 years ago, and the guys were about 24 then they'd be about 64 years old now, so theres a solid chance they're just not around anymore. I'd like to hear some covers since the song almost certainly has no copyrightability. No author from a country that doesnt really exist anymore.
Well, I feel on the verge of death now 😅😅😅
Then if the authors are still alive, it is possible that they would even not recognise the song if they could heard it...

How on earth could someone forget he sang for a recording?
Nobody has yet found Mr Alvin to my knowledge so it is the other SIM band members who claim this isn’t them and are unsure if it’s him with another band. Personally I feel that it could be a totally different (German) band whose lead singer just happens to sound similar. Or “just happens” isn’t a good way to describe it since many up and coming New Wave singers were carefully emulating some of the famous ones like Ian Curtis so it’s entirely possible both were influenced by him and never actually heard each other.

Eli Kane has passed away.
We have rumors that Alvin Dean died in prison, but also it is said he is alive and well in Australia.

Because Billy Knight (the one who claims they made this song) is a lying clown.
This is not Statues In Motion - After watching Whang’s videos, it obvious that the singers don’t sound anywhere near the same. End of story.
This is not by statues in motion. Apparently somebody interviewed a band member or someone connected to this band and they said they have no idea what this song is or where it came from.

It seems to me that we basically have the answer to this big question, but nobody has actually gone to the trouble of getting a solid confirmation from one of the few people who can provide it.
The song has Alvin Dean on vocals. That much is obvious to me. A song recorded after Statues In Motion split. Could’ve sworn I saw something about one of the other musicians Dean worked with during that time frame making reference to a dispute with the record label he was signed to at the time, which ended with them not allowing some of his later recorded material to be officially marketed. And that this was one of those songs, and it just somehow made its way into the hands of a radio DJ one day and got played once.
Though there has been speculation that Alvin Dean may have passed away, nobody has actually found any documentation of such. If anything, there have been a few hints that he’s still alive, and likely living in Australia.
He has a unique real name. Find him. Buy the guy dinner in exchange for talking about his music career to clear everything up. It’s probably that easy.
If you can’t find him, several other musicians he recorded with during that period are out there. A similar dinner/conversation with them could lead to some sort of confirmation.
Confirmation which… we basically already got, when the last thing Billy Knight said on the subject of the song was that “Alvin made it.” That’s a pretty confident, declarative statement. Though he initially tried to say SIM recorded it as a demo, he eventually conceded that it was actually just Alvin’s project. Someone doing a real, on the record, journalistic interview with Billy may even be enough. Pissing him off on Facebook is all that anyone has really accomplished with him yet.
Alvin Dean is the answer. Someone just needs to be the hero in this story and interview him and/or his friends. Who’s gonna follow through?
The issue is that Alvin Dean sounds like 1,000 other artists who came out during that time. Which is why it's so hard to pin down. Alvin Dean isn't the only person who sings like that. Early and mid-80s alternative all sounded the same. Baritones were common.
I love the song
I thought this was a lost song. I’m so glad its not.
it is unfortunately. SIM is not the band. it has been disproven
Looks like Cutting Crew - Just died in your arms?
It wasn’t Statues in Motion though…
New wave
Alvin and 2 others made the song, it was dropped from release because there wasn't enough space on the vinyl. It wasn't even official. No name, no lyrics. But at least you know now.
Experts on vinyl say that there was enough room on it to put the song on it.
My guess is that that SIM was lied to or the original tape was even longer than what was aired on NDR.
@@jadonherr6469 Damn fr?
Alvin dean with mystery band < 1 year after SIM
Would you mind sending me separated audio stems of instruments ? If you have them till now
No lyrics, no sheet and we must give face value that it is indeed Statues in Motion...
The record of the radio must appear first to corroborate this hypothesis.
It kinda reminds me of Blue Peter a band from Canada
So they found out who song it is finally.
1 band 2 albums 2 different timelines.
This song wasn't made by this band lmao..
It states on the title that the artist is 'Statues In Motion' they probably may of been a small group thus possibly faded into obscurity through whatever means
this song gives me a kinda sad feeling that so many artists that were popular in those times just dissapeared in time, and now only one or two songs survive, but the songs are so obscure that people don't know they exist, and they are there, in the darkest corners.
😎👌
It’s not Statues in motion. They lied to the public that it was theirs and they “recorded it” in 1982 but that high pitch synth came out in 1984.
Well, there was an earlier version of the DX-7 I believe, the problem is that Billy said it was another synth which I forgot the name, and not the DX-7 which would not make sense, because the synth he cited, can't make the sounds in the song. I'm 99% sure it is a Yamaha DX-7
I can remember the song focusing on “Freedom” which is why I find it odd that the song is ironically from a German band, what if the song got swapped with a version of life where Germany won the war?
The song is not by Statues In Motion... UB
It was not Statues in Motion. There is no real evidence that proves it was made by Statues in Motion as it doesn't share any similarities to any of their other songs.
After listening to a bunch of German dark-wave/new-wave/post-punk bands, I think these are all possible candidates:
Possible Candidates (All of which are German bands):
The Merry Thoughts (1983 - 2000, wasn’t formed in 1982, but is still something to check into)
Einsturzende Neubauten (Since 1980)
Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft (Since 1978 - 2021)
The Twins (Since 1980)
Hubert Kah (Since 1982)
Grauzone (1979 - 1982, didn’t last until 1984, but is still something to check into)
Der Plan (Since 1979)
Edit: I also recommend looking at dark-wave/new-wave/post-punk (or whatever genre the Mysterious Song is in) song compilations on RUclips. Preferably, songs from European/German bands, which sound similar to the Mysterious Song, that formed in the early 80's or earlier.
there's no sense of new divisions
i hope this is the real band.
It was. It was a Synth pop band from greece in the 80s. I hear they were short lived
Me too
@@SonicTheHedgehogCommentaries show evidence.
I think it was probably the same vocalist but not Statues in Motion but in the end we can never know.
@@vicstoron This is the conclusion, I believe, we got from Whang's video. Too bad the lead singer didn't give a band name.
How to remaster it
This is the cleanest mix I’ve heard of this yet. But it’s not them.
Tell that to aufr33, he did the audio. I just added video.
Are we 100% sure this was made by them
States in motion has been rolled out
Like the Autobots.
Machines in disguise.
I think it's kind of funny that people are saying "This sounds just like _________" so it must be them. Have you sat down and listened to early and mid-80s alternative? There are a billion singers that sound just like the person singing this song. Also, I've heard the tune before. It sounds like someone is singing different words over an existing song. By 1992, the internet was live and people were talking on it. Song lyrics followed. Pretty much anything on a radio station would have gone into the catalog, but no one asked about this song until 2004. It could be someone's brother singing over an existing song. Maybe when AI is better at identifying tunes, people can put the instrumental up and get the real song identified. I know I've heard it before. I think it's a hoax. 1984 and 1992 are only 8 years apart. This song would have been on the internet at some point if it were real. And whoever did it would have been tripping over themselves to claim it. 20 years later though... no takers.
To the OP who compared the vocals here to singer Alexander Veljanov of Deine Lakaien this is for sure not Veljanov , this singer sounds totally different . But yes the singer of Statues in Motion sounds very close to the one in this track . Couldn't someone do some kind of voice analysis on the vocals of the mysterious song and Statues in Motion songs to confirm it is the same vocalist ?
Statues in motion did not write the mysterious song; statues in motion are electronic, not post punk..
I know too much about music
Did you even read my description?
@@jadonherr6469 sorry; my brain is too fried these days... (also my adhd ass reacts before thinking..)
@@raoshae ah. Understandable. I hate when that happens.
New order are eletronic but make some songs post-punk
Except it's not Statues in motion
Sounds similar to the music in Dr Alban's it's my life song
Do you think an East German band did this song? It would make sense.
I've heard people say that they think that maybe the band were chased by STASI. Bands who were on the eye of STASI wasn't that uncommon, lots of them were chased down, especially if the song contains some kind of critic to the government or the situation that was going on
apart from the vocal part, nothing indicates that it is theirs, very different sound and instruments
Sounds like I just died in your arms tonight by cutting crew
It's actually the same chord progression.
Happiness must be fought for... at a gas station in Doom.
That cut me off guard when I saw that
@@jadonherr6469 That entire work of MyHouse combines so many different elements in such an eerie playthrough. All using the Doom game.
I suppose introducing people to the literary work of House of Leaves is the coup de grace of it all.
The musical introductions of Like the Wind and Memory=entryrrrr//// certainly add to the mystery ambience.
A friend of mine from Germany said it sounds like an alphaville song but she can’t put her finger on what one it is- hopefully that helps?
There's another one. He sounds just like the guy in every 80s alternative band ever.
This definitely isn't Statues in Motion. The song has nothing in common with their music.
Yeah. Yet Neuntage, a darkwave synthpop band, made a dance song.
@@jadonherr6469 even tho SIM wasn't a lead but I think they gonna find the lead singer alvin dean
@@Da.Liar-Pig It also sounds like the guy from Alphaville, Joy Division's singer, and a million other bands from that time period.
Not a SIM song but a good remix
This sounds more like The Short Romans.
SCOOTER MADE THIS SONG.
literally wasn't SIM
0:31 0:35 I heard it here "es"
The lyrics are not complete... there's something missing
