Wow Roy that looks great. I had chosen a couple of not as nice as or as big as your pieces. They might have a little colour but certainly thinner. Thought I'd take some time during the upcoming Holiday weekend. Have to see how things roll out. Like your dedication. Nice piece from Justin, Ruth and Tracy. Nicely done.
Love the sneak peek into Roy's world Black & White style. Need to get your favorite boulder opal spinning next to the TV for decors sake! Maybe some videos in the future on Opal Homemaking lol.
@@RoysRocks I liked the idea in your favorite opals video of putting that favorite boulder opal on a spinner yeah. Though a globe would work too. Lucky you have such a great subscriber that's sending you such * wink and laughs *

I should work on mine tonight. Got distracted by a big parcel of practice potch and started playing with the dremel :D But I DO have some thin inlay stuff that needs working, maybe I'll start rubbing and watch some more vids. Since my housemates said "hey, I've got a flex shaft, would that be useful for opals?" (whereupon I gasped and said "HECK YES PLEASE" haha) I have been doing a deeper dive into your channel :D
Cool :) I sand all my opals by hand its so satisfying ! I actually grow my own opal similar to the gilson method I will send you a piece if you fancy a shot at cutting and polishing a piece of my home grown opal ?

Hi Roy and all the Opalites out there. Another informative video. You have had a few advertisements on your channel. 2 1/2 minutes. Long enough to get a cup of coffee. I urge you all to let them run, as I hope it's a bit of revenue for Roy. ( Notice: I didn't say "watch" them!) Just a thought. Have a wonderful day, all. Stay well. Hope you get better soon, Roy. You'll be needing a heater for the shed soon, too, judging by the weather here! Need to look at some boulder opal soon, or I'll just have to pack up my bat and ball, n go home........🤣👍
Haha youtube ads dont make me a hell of a lot but every cent counts and goes back into the channel. One day I'll be able to afford more equipment upgrades... actually I'll be doing that anyway 🤣
@@onthebrightside977 good thought. I just don't know how to work a phone.... Lol. Not savvy with even basic technology, apart from U tube. 🤣. Thank you though, for advice. I WILL LEARN! One day............ Have a good day, morning, evening.👍

That is definitely a labor of love right there. Nicely done.
Only the truly committed can get through the sandpaper hand method that is for sure.

Thanks. This one came out okay and was actually quite relaxing while I was feeling a little unwell. Pretty soothing using sandpaper.
Well done Roy, what a great way to spend a weekend..
Yeah was pretty chill. Especially since I was sick and couldn't really do anything else anyway.
Lovely little piece. I didn't like the look of the black potch inclusion at first but it really worked out. 👌 Hope you are feeling better soon. 🤞😊
Thanks. I'm already on the mend so back to business already.

Bring on the hand cramps!!!
Indeed. Though I think I've managed to avoid them this time.
Great video! The gen looks great.
From someone who has done this with a few stones I highly recommend rhino wet! It's the best wet/dry on the market.
Don't know if I have ever seen "rhino wet" but I'll check it out.

What a funky little gem! I still have yet to continue sanding hahaha, my fingers really didn't like me after my first couple hours.
Mine were definitely getting wrinkly after a few hours. I took a break between each stage so spread it out over a couple days.

I have always been interested in the lab/home grown opal. Its a topic I still haven't addressed with the channel yet.
@@RoysRocks I can send you a piece if you like . I don't want anything for it as I have an abundance of it as I've been growing it for many years

@@LaurentiusTriarius Haha 🤣
Will doing this make any dust? Or not unless your doing it dry right by your face?
Once the sandpaper dries there will be dust so I typically give them a quick rinse at the end.
I'd make it thinner and a little resin on the playing edge as a pick. Maybe even over the whole thing
I play with thick picks typically and surprisingly this is thinner than my thickest.
Hoping to get my entry in soon x
I look forward to seeing it.
Ha Brian May comes to mind 🎸,10hours + deserves a thumbs up ,And shows anyone can do that for around $20.00 a great way in to a great hobby 👍
I'm going to whip out the guitar and see what this thing can do. I'll be pretty rusty and not at Brian May level that is for sure but should be fun.

Ah it can be done!
We should do a contest where everyone submits there cut and then we vote on a winner and the winner gets the lot haha

I'd cut a stone for something like that :D I don't have the ducats for the real nice stuff, but I'd find somethin' pretty.
