I have the same Jeep ‘94 6 cyl. Same color. Hope I never have to take my steering column out, looks like a pain.

What was the issue initially? I have an 89 that while driving died and all my dash gauges and lights went dead. Other electronics not involved with the key switch are working fine and battery is great. Tearing down steering column now

I have 3 of those steering columns I'm trying to frankenstein together for my 91 YJ. One from a XJ, the original YJ one, and one from a GM vehicle. Its been a pain in the butt. All 3 have different broken parts hah.

Can you replace a 1986 Jeep Cherokee steering column with a 1995 steering column???

Great video. I'm trying to reassemble the steering shaft on our '83 CJ-8. The new rack, gear & cylender have been installed. When removing everything, I had not found your video. So, things were not disassembled as you did. Screws removed, the rod was pulled out, a pile of parts. This is now a problem. I'm not sure where the rod goes inside the collar. There is a bracket inside. With the rod running through it, I find the collar will not slide completely up as yours. Also, the rack won't go into the inside bracket. What am I doing wrong?

Any thoughts on removing the Wiper Switch mechanism. It is shattered. I have my steering wheel off and turn signal switch out. How do get it out of the column to change.

On my 93, I broke the bottom half of the lower plastic cover when I was changing the turn signal pieces. I pride a little too hard to get the wiring through.

Honestly, I was thinking of that at a few points. Just breaking the covers. Easy access. Haha!!

Have you ever had to replace the top bearing of the shaft, right behind the big main spring?

Can't believe it, this is one of the hardest jobs I've done on a car, and the one I did is an automatic , you have to be very patient to do this job, It took me like 3 days to figure out what parts go where, I still have one small piece on my hand and I can't find where that small piece goes. Thanks for the help man ✌️

They make new columns with tilt and all , you should just replace it as messed up as it is.
