Drawing some signatures - these were originally images and were traced over in Inkscape to form the drawing paths.

How do you setup the machine to “write” opposed to mechanically draw letters?

A minha, quando vai escrever, ale vai até a ultima palavra do texto, e depois volta. Eu queria que ela esvrevesse igual a escrita a mão. Querido, tem como fazer ela começar da margem esquerda, e ir pra direita más escrevendo como à mão ? Obrigado p/ retorno.
Obrigado pelo comentário. É possível definir manualmente a ordem de desenho no Inkscape para que a máquina desenhe tudo na sequência correta. Eu já fiz um vídeo sobre este tópico aqui: ruclips.net/video/tZkbCnfvwoU/видео.html
Lindsay - how did you get the very clean conversion to single line? My results with autotrace/potrace/Inkscape have always been far less impressive.

Sorry, missed your comment here ;-) I actually traced the lines manually in Rhino (my go-to CAD program) since I've never found a reliable automatic method of doing it. I used the "Curve: Interpolate points" command and put points along the centerline of the writing. Automatic methods might have trouble with crossovers anyway.

Do you need a software for this? And, can you take a photo of a signature and put it on word then have this machine copy it?
It is run from Inkscape using an extension. Any design needs to be in vector form for drawing, so if you had a photograph of something, you would need to trace it first. There's more info on the main site at www.axidraw.com

Thanks for the comment. You can either use a cheap graphics tablet along with the freehand sketch tool in Inkscape, or you can scan in a signature then trace it manually as described here - axidraw.com/legacy_tracing.html.

Lindsay Wilson. I don't have the machine yet. But in user manual on page 42 are the instructions to make a signature.
1. Take a photograph of your, or somebody else's signature.
2. Import the photo into Inkscape.
3. Use the pencil tool to trace along the strokes, and this happends manually.
Result: almost perfect signature of
Benjamin Franklin is infront of your eyes.
In the same way it seems possible to draw a portrait, or a landscape. It would be nice to see some example.

I keep getting these comments. What exactly is it you want me to do, presumably for free? Spend half an hour of my life trying to draw some signature out for your name, and then endless discussions over the exact design of it?
It will be my responsibility, my purpose of using this machine is to write long declarations and books, is it convenient
