One of two crossings in Chilham, Kent.
Thanks For Watching!
Cool. The opposite sides flashing differently is nice to see in the UK, especially as an American, where it's commonplace for that.
Thanks 👍 Yeah, this is actually not very common in the UK. At most crossings both lights flash in sync and at some crossings none of the lights flash in sync.
Nice video!
Thank you 😎
Always nice to see and be around level crossings in quieter and more peaceful locations such as this one. I always find the fact that the lights flash oppositely at both level crossings in Chilham fairly odd tbh, though it makes them a little more unique I guess. Very nicely-filmed video! 👍
Thanks! 😎 Yeah, it was a good decision of mine to film both crossings in Chilham again as it's a nice, quiet area to film. The walk beside the lake connecting the two crossings was also quite nice 👍
Great video
Thank you 😊

Thanks! 🙂
Very nice but do you know why these crossing lights aren’t synchronized with each other like Woolhampton swing bridge
Thanks 😁 I think it's something to do with crossing relays, but at both crossings in Chilham the lights flash opposite to each other. I guess that's how it was set-up when the new crossing system was installed in the early 2000s
@@UKLevelCrossingsChannel Oh that’s interesting I never even new that
Nice Video! :)
Thank you 😊
Can you please do Brittanica Bridge and Snowdon Street crossings in Porthmadog please, and maybe Penrhyndeudraeth crossings while you’re there (on the Ffestiniog line?)
I may do in the next few years but I'm not planning on going anytime soon, mainly because it's quite far to travel (for me) and other crossings I'd visit in the area don't have frequent trains. I'd also only want to go there when there's absolutely no Covid restrictions. I'd really like to go there eventually but there's no plans at the moment 😉
I live across the pond why do the British railway put those gates at the bottom
The main reason I guess is to stop pedestrians ducking under the barrier and crossing when the barriers are down. It would also prevent animals and young children from walking onto the railway too.
Thank you
No problem 😊
Nice
Thanks 👍
I always confuse this with Chillingham.
Never heard of a crossing called Chillingham, or are you referring to a place called Chillingham?
Chillingham Castle in the Northumberland village, actually, lol.
Ah right 👍
Is it very 'chilly' there because Chil-ham
It was actually quite sunny and warm when I went lol
@@UKLevelCrossingsChannel winter?
Maybe chilly 😉
@@UKLevelCrossingsChannel if only it was up North and then it would be chill
Is there another train coming through
Well yes there was two in the video
Very long delay, good job it's not busy
Yeah it was. When I last filmed the crossing it wasn't as long. There's usually not many vehicles or pedestrians that use the crossings in Chilham anyway
I live near there
Cool, Chilham's quite a nice area in Kent
@@UKLevelCrossingsChannel yeah with the river and lakes nearby
Oh I am going there at Google maps 👍
There's two crossings in Chilham, try and find the other one 😉
@@UKLevelCrossingsChannel ok friend 👍
