- The Retroid Pocket 3+ is a beast of a handheld! Not only can you play it on the go but you can turn it into a home console to play your favorite retro games on the big screen.
In this video, I'll go over how to connect a blue tooth controller (Like the PS5 dualsence controller) to your Retroid Pocket 3+. We'll also go over connecting your RP3+ to your TV and common issues that come up.
Enjoy!

So in love with my rp3+ micro hdmi arrives tomorrow 😍
I got a RP3+ the other week and I really enjoy it. It's pretty crazy how inexpensive these handhelds are what they're capable of. I mainly use mine for PC Engine, Dreamcast, and PS5 remote play via PSPlay.
Great video. Nice clear presentation
Solid vids bro.
i subbed and liked, thanks for the fast informative video! i am ordering the 4pro, will you do coverage on it?
I use a videolink for my rg505's. Just payed mario kart 64 yesterday with 2 Ps4 controllers. Great time.
This was such a helpful video and your full review may have pushed me to order this 😀 Question, have you ever run into an actual retro home console? Like one designed to connect to a tv? I’ve searched but never found anything.
Thanks! Glad it helped. To answer your question, yes, I've seen ads for gaming sticks that essentially plug into your TV and connect to wireless controllers. To be honest, they look a little sketch but I have no clue since I haven't tested them out. Something I'm thinking about reviewing in the future though!
Great review, this is exactly what I needed to do! Wonder if you could just hookup a bluetooth speaker on the tv that had issues? How's the latency on it?
Glad it helped! That particular TV doesn't have bluetooth capabilities unfortunately. I've found at least one other person on the internet who had the same sound issue lol I think it just depends on the TV. I haven't noticed any latency on the gameplay itself.
Thank you !!!!
You're welcome!
wow, thanks
You're welcome!
Great video, can you connect multiple controllers? If so, how many?
This question did come up before and I tested it out. You can connect multiple controllers, I believe up to 4, making multiplayer possible. Making a video on this topic which I hope to publish in the next few weeks.
Hi thank you so much for this video. Would you say it looks clear on your TV? Do the graphics look ok for N64 games?
It's not the best since it's only a 720p output but for me it's fine.
hey I'm having a issue where when I connect my controller either my Xbox or switch controller and launch a game it only wants to use the built in controller on the device. my Bluetooth controllers are connected but only want to work outside of games. this only really happens in dolphin emulator gameboy games work fine
I have a question for you. With the Retroid pocket 3 plus can you connect a 8bitdo Lite2? Also what is the maximum sd card the Retroid pocket 3 plus can take? Thanks in advance 👍🏻
Any controller that connects via bluetooth should work. As for the SD car, I used a 128gb. I don't believe there is a limit, but I haven't been able to find any tests on like the 1TB cards.
Hmm. On my RetroArch(64) I load the PSX core I want, then go to Inputs and it shows the controller as "RetroPad" and not the current controller I am using (PS5). When I select it, there are no options for the PS5 controller, it only shows RetroPad. This is on the latest RP3+ firmware as of this post.. gah
Not sure if this is the issue or not, but when I load up RetroArch from the RP3+ menu I need to select it with the PS5 controller in order for retroarch to register I'm using a PS5 controller
Mines is not working after connecting, when I go to retroarch. My controllers inputs stop working. When I go to retro arch after connecting my dual sense controller I don't see dual sense at all in the device industry only "retro pocket 2 plus for android 11". Even after pressing the action button it still doesn't pop up
Are you using retro arch? When you select retro arch are you selecting it through the controller input?
@@8bitbongo yes
Do you have to remap the buttons every time? Like switching from native device to the tv?
Just the first time!
@@8bitbongo and I guess map them as a second preset?
@@mattmiller4866 I’m not entirely sure what you mean by the second preset, if we are talking about retroarch specifically, the controller you pair via Bluetooth will appear under device index. Once you map that device it’ll be saved for the next time you pair it.
@@8bitbongo ok gotcha. I wasn’t using retroarch just the emulator directly.
Ive noticed that when i connect my retroid to the tv, the screen on the retroid is still faintly on. If i put a flashlight right on the screen i can still see that its on. Does it happen to yours as well?
I haven't noticed this. In settings there is an option to keep the display on or turn it off, maybe you have that set on?
I already changed that setting that its the same. Have you put a bright light right on the screen? For me it looks like its off too until I flash a bright light. @@8bitbongo
How long does it take to be shipped??
If you order directly from the website or aliexpress it takes a while. Mine was about 2 weeks I believe.
Would this also would on a projector?
As long as it connects via HDMI it should!
Any way to connect a fight stick?
I would assume yes as long as it connects via bluetooth.
Does the console gets hot while connected through hdmi??
Not hot to the point where I'm concerned but it does get pretty warm.
Dont forget to turn screen off with hdmi
Can you play with 2players?
From what I have been reading up on, yes. People have even been doing 4 player games together with little to no lag.
Don't get a full hdmi to hdmi micro cord just get an adapter that way you don't have to carry that same cord everywhere you can just plug the adapter into any HDMI thank me later
Wish I thought of this before buying the full cord lol
You can always buy more lol, it's 8.14$ @@8bitbongo
Would the Xbox Series X controller also work?
Also Can you pair multiple controllers to play multiplayer games with friends?
Yes the Xbox series controllers work too, just hold the pairing button on top of it and you'll see it on your RP3+. As for multiplayer... good question, I'm pretty sure you can. Sounds like a good follow up video idea...
I'm selling my Xbox series X and I'm done with modern gaming I'm 44 years old and you can't even play PVP without a bunch of people cheating like fortnite season 5 chapter 2 is just full of cheaters it's just not fun anymore and then why pay $70 for a game that's not even fully developed and then I got to download this and that I miss the days when I could just stick my cartridge in and play the damn thing..
