***** -OH. MY. CRAP. JOHN GREEN, YOU ARE ONE OF MY FAVORITE RUclipsRS. Your channel is one of the the 3 channels that inspired me to make this channel!! SO HONORED YOU RESPONED TO ONE OF MY VIDEOS!! I had to turn off the comments and "Approve" the "civil and rational ones" and I saw your comment! WOW!!!! Thanks for watching and enjoying my video!
So many TURKS! You people flood every video that contains "Armenia" in its title with negative comments. I've never seen another race act like this. It's pretty pathetic, shows the kind of people they are.
it is normal if I love my country, and if somebody hate us, it must be mutually... so we hate them... if somebody made KHOJALI GENOCIDE against us, and they are armenians, yes I hate armenians..
Armenian church is not orthodox, Armenia is one of (if not the only one) the rarest countries, keeping the APOSTOLIC CHRISTIAN CHURCH so far. Thank you
yeah but they are considered Oriental Orthodox not Eastern Orthodox like Greeks, Russians, Serbs, Ukrainians,Romanians,Georgians, Montenegrin, Macedonians,Bulgarians, Belarus, Moldova and Cyprus. The Oriental Orthodox communion comprises of six churches, Ethiopian, Eritrean, Syriac, Malankara Syrian (Indian Orthodox Church),Coptic and Armenian Apostolic churches. Confusingly, they are collectively called "Oriental" Orthodox, as opposed to the "Eastern" Orthodox. Most of the churches you see in the West tend to be of the Eastern Orthodox breed. These churches are all the same faith in the sense that they recognize each other are Christian, but the Eastern and Oriental Orthodox branches are not in communion with each other. Thank you.
I just discovered Geography Now. Wow. Why. Have. I not seen this sooner. Great expose of Armenia. PS- also, I'm Armenian, but not from Armenia. PPS- I don't care whether someone is Turkish or Armenian; if you're a good human being, then you're a friend of mine.
I love how you people apriciate Armenia personally I am full on Armenia and I love how some of you guys are saying that you love my home country 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Very well made! The only mistake I only noticed was you mixed up the eastern and western dudes when they try to talk to each other, but most people won't know anyway :) Also the Javakh and other regional problems others mentioned about Georgia. So I wouldn't say Georgia and Armenia love each other but those problems aren't really that huge Other than that I really liked it, you even covered how the USSR forced Armenia to produce cotton in the USSR :)
Hey im Armenian and im kinda surprised that you had some things really on POINT! haha one thing you got right for sure is the love between Greece & Armenia i would give my life for them just as i would for my own country, and same for Serbia we all fight for the Holy Cross. ps: we aint Orthodox though, like dea7 said Christians (Gregorian) & Nagorni Karabah IS Armenia. nothing to say about that.
Hi Paul. I'm a complete geography nerd. I've been to the Pennsylvania state bee twice and hopefully three times soon. I completely understand how your mind works. Haha everyone should know about geography. I love what you're doing. Making geography funny is an amazing idea. Thank you so much for helping the geography community inspire others on this planet we call home. :)
Hey man thanks for making these, i'm out of high school and i never had any classes that talk about different countries like this. I'm sure you will be a big education channel eventually. gl
That specifically is EXACTLY one of the reasons why I made this channel! I was frustrated that the resources for Geography are so undervalued and underrepresented. Even on RUclips, so I was like, "Okay, fine. I do it myself" lol
This guy is great! He should have a TV show! Covered so much in 10 minutes in a very fun and energetic way. It's nice to find geography freaks like me lol
You mean the next one coming up? Haha I think You'll like what I did with Australia…. Already filmed it! I'll start editing it next week, stay tuned dude! BY THE WAY!! If you'd like to be featured in one of the animation sequences let me know! I usually use pictures of people from public domain stock websites, but If you want I can use your picture! Let me know!
I am Armenian and I thoroughly enjoyed your video. It's accurate and very pleasant to watch. I commend you for doing so much research. Keep up the good work, and please do not be discouraged from the comments. The graduating class of the Academy of Azerbaijani Internet Trolls gets bigger and bigger every year, and sadly, it gives you a glimpse as to the deteriorated state of affairs in that country. In case you haven't noticed, they pounce on every video about Armenia and Armenians, and repeat the same things over and over again and inject their hatred into everything. A lot of these people are young, hopeless, sad, miserable losers who have nothing better to do than the scout RUclips for any comments that are even remotely favorable of Armenians, and trash them, as well as the creators of the videos. This is the sad state of affairs of Azerbaijan, in which doing such things makes you a model citizen. So having said that, if you've ever felt targeted in any way, don't. You're doing a great job and as a geography/politics lover myself, and I look forward to your other videos.
The presenter misspoke at 8:31, when he said both Armenian and Greek are dialects not based on Indo-European languages. Both Armenian and Greek are dialects (or better yet, languages) of Proto Indo-European, as is English. The language alphabets of both Armenian and Greek are offshoots of the ancient Phoenician alphabet developed three or so millennia ago, as is Latin and Cyrillic based alphabets. That aside, I enjoyed the video!
Hey, cool video! I am a descendant of Armenians and did not know so much about their history, but the video you made here really cleared some things up. Really like the way you make it both educational and not boring at the same time. Keep it up! Cheers from Argentina.
Its nice to see how foreigners see my country, thanks dude. But you did make some mistakes: 1)Armenia and Georgia have been very close friends in the III century to the XIII centuries. But in the early XX century a dispute happened in Lori, in reality it was georgian land with an armenian majority since the XV century, so it was their land and they got it back. Fair right? 2) We have always (EXCEPT for the Roupenian Dynasty) controlled mount ararat, since our first kingdom, the kingdom of Ararat (urartu). Ararat means "Mountain of the Ara god and Ara King". It is also called Masis and the smaller one besides it is called Sis.
(The Argentine again) Thank you for explaining the country where my ancestors come from (my mother's surname is Essayan.) Fun story: in Argentina, Armenians sometimes are called Turcos (Turkish) because of their similar ethnicity. My grandpa, whose father was Armenian and escaped the genocide, is called Turco by his coworkers. My great grandma wanted to kill him because he let himself be called like that. We sometimes call my mom Turca for bothering her, and she gets mad.
So cute, when people don't know how to pronounce an armenian name or a city or i don'r know.So cool.I love this video.I always thought no one cares about this important and interesting country,Thumbs up.Sorry if my English isn't good.I live in Germany.Schöne grüße aus Deutschland an euch Amis.;)
Geography Now thank you so much for this awesome video! First time I see a non-armenian speaking up so clearly about the most important events in our country's history that so often are not mentioned anywhere. Thank you! I did enjoy your video and will check out the other ones as well. =)
Great video Homie! Watched the Azerbaijan video too, really appreciate your honest style. Don't listen to the haters from both sides, you're doing great.
This was a great video! Thank you for the hard work. One point that I need to address is that Armenia has a long history of Paganism before Christianity, I wish you had touched on that. But either way, great unbiased video! Loved it!
As an Armenian, this was both extremely entertaining and made me really happy in terms of accuracy and educational quality. Kudos! Would you consider captioning this?? RUclips captions suck and I have some friends I'd really like to show this to.
Nice project - Geography Now! Thank you very much for too interesting history about Armenia. Actually all facts and the history is very interesting and true. I can confirm that as an historian ;) Waiting for more videos also about other countries. CHECK IT OUT GUYS!!! nice project!
I'm so happy I discovered your channel at the end of 2014. I absolutely love watching your vid's and you'll probably be as big as your favourite RUclips Channels- Crash Course, CGP Grey, Woner Why. They also happen to be my favourite youtube channels so you fit in just right in my Subscription list. I might as well take the opportunity to say hi before you become more famous and barely comment on your own vids. :)
Hey KingBartzzzTheSeventh Haha Thanks for enjoying the Channel! Yeah feel free to keep up with my vids, share them if you want, whatever! I also have a Facebook page too if you want to keep up with behind-the scenes stuff too!
I have to say that you did a WONDERFUL job explaining a lot in a very short time. I am going to watch every single one of your videos. Keep up the great work!
Coregame3 The stupidity of your assumptions only compare to the rock in my backyard. First, how do you know my religion? I don't know about Armenia, but in Azerbaijan all religions live in peace. Second, Soviets took over Azerbaijan only in 1920. We had more successful empires than you had unibrowed fictional Armenian kings. Third, assuming that Azerbaijan is an ancient Armenian land, which is silly and wrong, why did your glorious khachiks let us "invade" it? If you suck at protecting "your historical property", why should we leave? Oh yeah, our government feeds us propaganda, while yours shares only true information, and deeply cares to be non-biased (sarcasm). I hope you pull up your head from your rear end and start reading some non-Armenian history books. Cheers, and have a terrible day, you bigot! :)
Murad Alizada Please explain to me why the Armenians were in the Roman Empire and were called Provincia Armenia? Or why the Romans named the apricot after the Armenians and called it "Prunus Armeniaca"? Why isn't it called "Prunus Azerbaijanica"? Why is it called the Armenian Highlands and not Azerbaijani Highlands? Why is it that Armenia was the first Christian nation back in 301AD? Aren't you Turkic and originally from the Altai Mountains before the Turkic migration? Please explain to me why if you look at the oldest map in the world (Babylonian Map of the World) you can see Armenia and NOT Azerbaijan? Why? Explain? Give me proof or send me links. Do it, I dare you.
Coregame3 It is simple amigo, because we weren't called Azerbaijan back then, but Athropathena. Albania played a crucial role as well. Ethnogenesis of Azerbaijani people involves these two old proto-states. And by the way, Romans have extensive documentation about Albanians too (the name Azerbaijan comes from Athropathena). I am more than happy to provide our perspective and facts, only if Armens stop being deaf and listen to something from outside world. Btw, I am History minor from a Canadian university, if that makes my words to appear less like a result of what you call "propaganda" :) We had a Turk state before Mongols came. Mongolian conquest was no more crucial in our ethnogenesis than they were in yours. You can't miss waves of Hunnic conquests as well. The topic is soooo extensive! Do you want to discuss certain details? i don't know where to start, so many things to say.
***** Athropathena is that region, which consists of South of Modern Azerbaijan, and present day Iranian province of Eastern Azerbaijan. However, significant debate is also about origin of Albanians. Arran is a historic name which was widely used by Arabs, even after Islamic conquest. If you glance to history of tribes that lived in Arran, you'll see mention of many groups, that are in fact nomadic and strongly resemble nomadic Turks. Herodotus extensively mentions them. There are endless number of names in Azerbaijan connected to those small tribes. Massagetae is one of those tribes, and even Armenian historians call them... wait for it... Huns. So, what happened to "Hunnic" tribes that populated area? Were they Persian origin? No. Were they of Caucasus origin? Possibly, after living and mixing with local tiny tribes. Were they Armenian? No. But who were they? Turkic nomads? Substantial evidence comes from preserved language artifacts and traditions, that are very similar to those of Altaic groups.
I really like the protection Russia gives to armenia but it would be great if armenia just moved to like another place like mid Europe or something cause I don't like how turkey and Azerbaijan gang up on armenia
Such a great presentation of my native country Armenia, thanks to the author who worked so hard and presented our country historically and politically so right and without any lie))))
Haha! I laughed so much at ''They kind of really like each other. They really kind of like each other.'' Eyebrow game strong! These videos are so entertaining. Thanks! Also you are welcome here anytime, Armenians are hospitable and really love foreigners. xD
