  • The leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia argued openly in front of Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday in testy exchanges that underlined the extent of their dispute over the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh.
During a meeting in Moscow, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan raised the issue of the Lachin corridor while Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev listened to his concerns with a smirk, before Putin closed off the conversation, noting that the topic was sensitive.
"We will now have the opportunity, as we agreed, to talk about everything calmly in a businesslike manner in a trilateral format," Putin said before turning to other matters.

They seek a compromise. Armenia and Azer wants peace. But with the situation with government leaders, only leads to real confrontation.
If the people within their own communities are majority of somewhat role or faction, such as gamers and socialites,
It's their voice that counts and Putin knows that government establishments always end in chaos and disruption.
Real governments possess real capacity to destabilize community assessments.
      Etc. Etc.
If it were up to the people to stop these wars from conflicting, it would be to deteriorate the need for territory and more cooperative measures.

The incidents on the border with Azerbaijan, when the Russian Federation and Russia’s CSTO military bloc refused to fulfill their obligations to protect the sovereign territory of their ally, became a cause for discontent on the Armenian side. Another pain point for Armenia is the inaction of the Russian peacekeeping contingent deployed on the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh to protect the Armenian population.
Russia’s position is considered by a significant part of the Armenian society, politicians and analysts as incompatible with the status of a strategic ally.
This is hardly a sign of cooperation.

    • @faultier3215
      @faultier3215 3 месяца назад

      Kudos to Putin?
He has been letting armenia down over the last years, the nationalists of both countrys hate each other, but azerbeijan is in strong alignment with trukey, where they get weapons and drones, aswell as - believe it or not - Israel, because they have big tensions with Iran about an azerbeijan minority living in northern Iran, and Israel is just following an "enemy of my enemy is my firend" logic. Armenia on the other side has had only russia who were watching over their interest. But this protection has been weakened due to most of Russias military forces beeing engaged in Ukraine, enabeling azerbeijan to annex territory in armenia.
Azerbeijan sits on vast oil and gas reserves, that brought them ahead of armenia in terms of economy, military and international relations. If armenia, which is still a democratic country and mostly a christian nation by the way, looses russias protection, azerbeijan might invade them soon. And Azerbejan is under control of the deeply corrupt Alief regime for 2 generations, since the illegal dissolution of the USSR.

This is why Russia invaded Poland, Latvia, Finland, Estonia, and Lithuania years before they were even attacked by Hitler, yet Russia keeps claiming they were 'victims' in WWII. Stalin couldn't claim and call the newly invaded countries as part of Russia because that would be too blatant expansionism. Also, it doesn't fit in with the Russian psyche with them as the rulers of others. Allowing the others to call themselves "Russians" too wouldn't be the same as stepping on their heads with the Russian boot. So they used the "Soviet Union" much like China is trying to make BRICS/Cribs. Russia was the 'boss' and all other countries of the USSR were expected to take orders from Moscow.
With the USSR failing dismally, the problem is Russia thinks all those countries belong to Russia.

I just want to say that this situation is extremely sad and complicated. There's no clear answer on how to solve this issue. The 1st Karabakh war should have never happened. I understand why it happened, but the whole idea of transferring territory from AzerbaijanSSR to ArmeniaSSR just because we made up the majority of the population never made any sense to me unless AzerbaijanSSR gave its consent to cede its territory to ArmeniaSSR. But let's be real for a second. Which country would want to give up its land? No country at all. This war was simply by a land grab opportunity. In the US, there's a significant Armenian community in Glendale CA, Detroit MI, and Watertown MA. Would it be right to demand the US to transfer those territories to Armenia? No. (Although our GDP and economy would surpass any country in the region haha).
Truth be told, Karabakh has been home to many people not just Armenians. In recent history before the formation of the USSR, the territory has been ruled by the Russians, Persians, and Ottomans. Wars happen, borders change. Now that we live in modern times, the age of border changes are over. Let's just retain our territories from the Soviet period and call it a day.

People in here really need to chill and stop seeing what they want to see instead of what really is going on. Leader of Armenia politely excused for interrupting in the middle of his speech, to which Putin turned to him and said a sentence that can be translated as "i am listening". Just in a more non formal, friendly way by saying "Yes? Please, you may continue. There was no shock, nothing. It was simply a way to show that "i am listening, i do care, please continue". That's all there is. His goal here is to help them to move closer to each other. Which is why he showed his full attention and didn't even bothered to continue his speech to show this attention.
