Genius level stuff! I mean that. I'll definitely give this a shot, next time I'm playing. 🖖😃 EDIT: I've downloaded your Infinite Drill, and attached a seat to one of the mining arms. I'm currently riding it like a merry-go-round, as it carves its way ever deeper into the planet Awesome stuff! Drill works as advertised. Would recommend to a friend!
Probably the most efficient infinite drill build I've seen thus far. I keep forgetting that rotors can take the place of connectors and save a lot of PCU by doing so. Also, its just 1 piston and 1 welder, crazy. Could cut costs even more with a double rotor drill. To make it vanilla friendly, the autocrafting script could be replaced with basic assemblers controlled with event controllers that are tracking separate containers for each component.
It would be great if the blueprint also included an interior light that got welded to the main shaft every few steps so you can see the tunnel going all the way down.
Very nice and well timed! I was experimenting using very simple gravity-guided drill bot (drills, battery, antenna) in creative mode to bore to the centre of the Earth. With that done literally last night I started looking around on the Steam Workshop for a proper automated drill system that would create a straight shaft. I'll give this a go and see if it'll bore straight through the Earth, some 120 km!
I had a similar system on my first survival server, though with far less safety, the conveyor on mine ran down the center and wasn't a static grid like yours is. At some point someone flew a mining ship down there which ran out of fuel as it was doing so, crashing into the conveyor creating the biggest clang I've seen before crashing the server, when we rejoined the drill was gone
Very nice build, nice miner ship too ^^ only one minor tip, you move the mouse too much when "pointing" for things you are describing, and that can make some ppl motion sick.
you could make a "pvp addon" that can be optionally installed where there's a small broadcast system hidden that uses a battery, as it detects the other batteries missing, or maybe damage on the solar panels/turbine it shuts everything down and activates the broadcast to your base. this can be used as a "manual maintenance required" system for the non-pvp servers (or your survival worlds) so if you have an automatic mining operation it just sends a signal on your base to tell you that something went wrong, nothing fancy just get a broadcast block with some kind of prefix and if it detects it it works and if it doesn't detect it then deactivates the functionality. on the build i can not comprehend how people make things both functional and good looking and this build exceeds in both parts, looks increible and works even better. i may be a noob at building, because as i make any ship strong enough to fly it looks ugly, and if i make it look nice it's unable to fly for more than 3 seconds... if even it's capable of lift...
Interesting design. Could the controlling blocks be moved on to the piston base? Seems like if they could the crawler piston could have a connector port added to the top end so the entire crawler & drill assembly becomes a portable (air/space-lifted) machine ....which would leave only the power generation, cargo/unload conveyor ports, refining/assembler (if used) and warning lights vulnerable above ground. Just thinking how to potentially minimize the amount of rebuild/re-configuring when setting up/moving drill sites ..... ...maybe use two sets of warning lights, one on the crawler assembly and one above surface so they could be combined into a group for the timers/event controllers to call(?) ...anyway just thinking aloud since this design got me to thinking.
So. You could compact it down some by using a rotor to create a small grid and use the small grid timers/event controllers. You would just have to make a blue print for the “brain” separately.
Me, builds very simple piston drill. Im very happy with it. Hops onto youtube, see's this masterpiece... No longer satisfied with my level of engineering. Impressive build dude, its super cool
Don't worry to much about that, unless you are that one guy who builds the best stuff you will always find stuff better then what you do. (he probably also finds stuff he thinks is better then his stuff) just have fun building your stuff for yourself!
Tried building my own version, got almost to the point where i could just power it and leave it. But i couldnt get the projector recursion to work more than 3 levels
I've been trying to make something similar to this with merge blocks, but the inch worm section keeps stationing itself. I think your build gives me an idea for my project to work properly. I just have to figure a few things out. No its not a drill
question... would it still work if i deleted what i needed to in order to add additional drills? i'm assuming no since i would have to regroup the drills in the menu at the very least.
There are more effecient ways to build a drill but I do love how it looks Great job :) Edit - Oh it's a infinite drill thought it was just a normal piston drill LOL this is far better then most infinity drills I've used :O PAM is great script I use it to autodock my giant ass dreadnought to one of my stations LOL prevents me from ramming breaking stuff and not noticing for months :P
doesn't look like he used mods, just event controllers and scripts and both of those are stock things. if one is clever they may even be able to get around needing the script!
@@ARockRaider That's a good idea. Without the inventory script we could possibly put the assembler to repeat produce the required components for the blueprint, and replace that programmable block with an event controller to toggle the assembler on/off so we don't use up all the ingots.
cargo transfer and guaranteed positioning. (mag plates may drift if you aren't careful) he could probably use hinge parts if he wanted to as well as they function the same in this context.
Ages ago I did one using connectors, but this doesn't make the two parts one grid, so you need to use merge blocks as well. It's gets way too complicated like that. This is way simpler method.
This Grid does not play well with some mods. i used it and it would just randomly build a load of random crap like mr 20 rifles and ammo as well as oxygen and hydrogen tanks 100s of them.
“There are weaknesses (lists even more safety measures)”
The little short clip of the drill exploding from rotors moving killed me lmfao
Reminded me of the rotor explosions in Wrong Way Down. 😂

I appreciate that this looks like it was ripped directly out of an RTS game, that style doesn't see much use in block games.

True streamlined engineering at its finest!
this is sick! im new to SE but its awesome to see all of the optomized and streamlined designs out there :0
It would be great if the blueprint also included an interior light that got welded to the main shaft every few steps so you can see the tunnel going all the way down.
If so, have them added to a group that can be toggled on/off by the script as they're built
It's beautiful! I hope you use your creativity outside of SE as well to bring good things to all of humanity!
for extra spice, add a grinder at the "back" to remove the rotorhead once you're done with it to save some material!
Very nice and well timed!

This is unreal dude
this is a machinary beast holy cow
we're just playing factorio at this point XD Great work!
Definitely the coolest design I have seen so far.
Nice build man.
Now add a version without drills upside down on top to make a space elevator at the same time.

make a space engineers playthrough your good at building and making complex things.

That is really impressive! Btw, I love Pam too. I don’t know why the automation blocks are so bad in comparison. Great work!
Hi, great drill idea, have you also got that little drone BP too?
can you make a vid showing how to build the subgrids im a noob
That's really good!
for some strange reason I always want to extend the pipe on the borehead side, yours should be much more stable!

this is bloody awesome great drill love to use it in my private colony build well done

You could allow the tower to rotate to get better solar alignment
Splitsie could learn drilling from you!
Great Build! I'm getting your blueprint now
That is a great Build.. No Build is 100% Safe .. Keep up the good work.
Impressive build, I hope youtube helps to get tons of views.
For the algorithm; Ai, viral, must know, technology, free money
At first I did not get the principle, how this works. Too hasty camera. With lots of pausing, I could get into it. Neat idea!
Tried building my own version, got almost to the point where i could just power it and leave it. But i couldnt get the projector recursion to work more than 3 levels
so fu**i*ng amazing !!
Impressive as hell my dude 👏
👏🤌need a larger hole version 🙏
Good luck, dude

For a moment I thought it was mobile and would maybe mine the entire planet on it's own.

why not magnet plate instead of rotors?
To transfer cargo, of course.

@@ARockRaider Hinges have a bigger collision box that you have to fit the part into. Rotors are much more forgiving in that aspect.

Getting epilepsy from your shaky camera work

Great build, terrible video hard to watch gave me Vertigo with all of the camera wiggling!
