This makes me want a simple water heater next time. Ours is only 4 years old and it started beeping with service light. Hard to get to, but I’ll try this. Thanks

You said you were having compressor issues. I assume that is related to your evap temp? Mine just started throwing the a005 error and from what I've gathered, it might be that thermistor and that it is a pretty common failure. Just curious if that was what yours ended up being.

Mine was indeed a bad thermistor!

@@UrbanTinkerer Yep, mine too. I need to get around to ordering a spare set of them to keep on hand. They are cheap enough that I didn't even bother trying to get them to ship me some under warranty.

Same here, it was a bad evaporator thermistor after only 11 months of operation. It took me two calls to Rheem tech support until they figured out what the problem was. The first time they thought it was the control board and sent me one. Seems to me that Rheem should find a better supplier for the thermistors.

I think wrapping the thermistor in a bit of thermally conductive yet electrically insulating material will help. I think some of it is down to the copper pipe and the aluminum exterior of the thermistor doing some galvanic corrosion and killing the sensors.@@kirktolstrup3894

Any part number for the thermister? And instructions to swap it?

Do you know how to override the stupid 48hr electric only feature? In the winter it would be nice not to have to switch it into this mode every two days.

One way would be to use an external automation; eg home assistant with the econet integration.
Alternatively, the “schedule” feature in the econet mobile app should let you do what you want.

Anyone thinking about a hybrid, just be careful and do your research if you have a hot water recirculator. I was not aware that the rheem hybrid I have does not work with recirculators, because it relies on a 25 degree temp drop to detect demand. But recirculators average the temp out between tanks. Also mine has failed so many times and must recently the upper element relay getting stuck on, and tripping the hot water overtemp switch, for a lovely cold shower in the morning. Several parts on the unit also leak. I'm just not impressed

Push up arrow at 140 the display will then say to push and hold the up and down arrows, it’ll beep then you can increase the temp to max 150.
