I bought my AirTV in 2019 and have never looked back. Back then, they had an app to use that went directly to the AirTV and bypassed Sling, but they discontinued it. The AirTV does do some compression on the TV signal, but like you said, its good enough for most purposes. Here in Atlanta we have two major networks on 1080i and two on 720p, so that's about as good as its going to get. I have that same antenna in my attic (one of three). It's pretty good for such a small antenna. I love that you attached yours outside, directly to your house.
Yes. As long as your Wi-Fi router works you would be able to watch local broadcast TV on any device that is connected to your home Wi-Fi. What would NOT work is being able to watch the local channels on the go. Away from home. Because you need a working internet connection to send those local channels outside your Wi-Fi network.
can you create a video on how to remove the air tv connected to your device and how to set up a new airtv and a video on how to connect it to a different wifi network, and how to do a factory reset, thank you so much!
@@scaryifliteral Onn products are often really really cheap and aren't always recognized by non-computer devices. Sadly you'll likely have to use a Kingston, Sandisk or Samsung USB drive for it to work the way you want. Onn work great for files to and from a PC but aside from that they don't really work well for device imaging or random access storage.
Don't use a flash drive for this stuff homie, use an actual 3.5 external hard drive, (or a purchased USB enclosure for an internal 3.5 drive or 2.5 SSD). Using flash drives for this sort of thing would be very bad in general, and would also kill the drive fairly quickly.
I am curious Shane how is your AirTV 2 working now? I have been having problems with the device saying the drive is not connected when it is. I have tried all solutions on the net and still have the error.
I've also had some issues using a flash drive. I ended up grabbing an old PC hard drive I had laying around and plugging that in with an adapter and that has been working so far.
The subscribe offer is effectively a commercial that tried to get you to subscribe. This is not an accident or a bug. As it relates to the ONN hard drive, that was your mistake. The Samsung has far better internals than the ONN.
I'm aware of what they're trying to accomplish by asking me to subscribe every time I open the app. I'm not saying it don't know why they're doing it, I'm saying it's annoying lol. As for the flash drive, since filming this I have gone through the same resetting process to move back to the Samsung drive and it still does not work. There is a documented issue with this most recent firmware causing some of these issues.
The only concern I have is that if this goes away, I would be throwing the $60 box away because I'd have no other use for the AirTV2 box. I'm already a streamer with RUclipsTV and others. But there are some OTA channels that I like. But given I'm already invested elsewhere, I don't want to spend too much just getting a user-friendly app and guide for local OTA viewing. I don't need DVR. Maybe just an ATSC 3.0 device that provides a guide would be sufficient. Contemplating. Great video. 💯

If internet service goes out then would my Wi-Fi router still send airtv feed to my tv and the Sling app?

great video, curious did you ever try to connect a USB Drive (maybe 4TB) vs a Thumb Drive?
I did not
Does this still work today?

I live in a valley and the nearest local channels are 2 hours away
Been there before lol. No fun.

Watching Babylon 5 on Tubi TV on my Samsung Galaxy Z FOLD 3 right now.
You should never use a flash drive for your DVR. Use an external 2.5” drive.
It's not worth it lol
Only the power lite is working not the other 2 lites
What do you mean?

Too bad sling doesnt offer airtv 2 with rca antenna for current customers. Don't really trust it though amazon or Walmart.
