    This is a fabulous technique. The house we bought had this done to the kitchen cupboards and all the trim in the dining room. Gorgeous I must say. Now I have to try and match the wood as I have a repair to make. I think it's close to a pecan stain color. Thanks for a great video!

    WOW! The process looks absolutely tedious, but holy cow, it's gorgeous! If I didn't have back problems, I would so do this! I can't believe how real it looks! So beautiful!

    Brilliant and gorgeous technique. I will certainly be using this method. Thank you for posting this. I also use to use the rolled tape method on the back of my ruler, but frustration forced me to try gluing strips of that waffly foam netting sheets that people use for shelf liners and under rugs to prevent slipping. Or you could apply it with double sided tape, so you can replace as needed. This works great for preventing that dreaded ruler shifting.

    This is such a great technique. When perfected, it's going to be the perfect cheap but realistic solution for my dollhouse flooring. So much better than paper, buying expensive adhesive Wood strips or trying to get popsicle sticks to look flush. Great tutorial, thank you!

    I seal the MDF with shellac before painting. Putting acrylic paint on MDF will cause the MDF fibers to fur up. Water on wood causes wood to swell. Like the idea of scoring the wood to look like grooves.

    This was really nicely done. Do you think that this same technique would work for 28mm tabletop buildings for gaming?

    So how about if the floors are already in the house or do you install this on top of the house floors.

    one question. Why not do the scoring after you paint the base coat you stated that you want the scores free of paint that wouldn't that save you a couple steps?

    I'm sure it would be cheaper to do this yourself than spending the $12 per (smaller) sheet. Each room would take two to three sheets if purchased. However, by making the wood the length and width to begin would be easier to a point. If you like doing this stuff; which I do.

  • @chandlerdavis952
    @chandlerdavis952 9 лет назад +1

    Good work but, OMG the amount of time needed to enough pieces for a full 200 to 400 sq floor would make it cheaper to purchase the real thing IMHO. I give you credit I would never have the time or the patience to attempt a project like that. Sincerely it looks great!

      Chad Davis Oops never mind i'm an idiot i didn't catch the dollhouse portion of the description. Very sorry it blew my mind thinking that you would do that for a house sized floor. please excuse my lack of reading skills. Still really liked the resulting finish.

      Lol only now that I'm reading your comment (that you wrote a year ago), I understand it's for a dollhouse.. Hahaha I was thinking the exact same thing, like, wow! This man's patience is off the charts !

      It's for a dollhouse, lol. The 1cm grooves are meant to be scaled down planks.
