Actually, you raise a very good point. Just exactly what is it that’s recorded in the first instance before the internal processing. This video is not live, I just put it up to show certain people. I may do a proper video about this with more examples, to show people exactly what’s going on and have some of the examples as downloads so that people can test them for themselves. Cheers, Dave.
I have to agree with you on log. I got my GP12 on Friday and tested it right away. The log footage is awful! I was hoping I could match it to my Lumix S5II, but it is unusable. Softer than a very soft thing! I have tried every trick with Resolve but I can't get a usable image! The 10bit 4K Flat profile is nice but that was available on the 11. It is probably going back!
Hi. Yes, it's not only super disappointing but I seriously don't know what use anyone would have for that LOG format. It's also quite useless because you don't get full manual exposure when using it and even with the standard profile you're still limited with the shutter on the Heroes anyway and can't get the speed that they do in auto. The whole thing doesn't seem to have been thought out very well. Cheers, Dave.
Well, the orange look went ….. replaced by purple. Looks really off. I guess the sharpening is set to zero so that’s what the lens gives out only to be corrected in camera in ‘normal’ mode. This footage makes it look like the camera has something wrong with it tbh. What has happened to GoPro?
Oh, Ian. Don't get me started 🤣 GoPro simply can't decide on what colour they are going to use to screw up skin tones. BTW. I've just done a thumbnail and description for this video and I'll put it live a bit later. I should defo do a more in-depth video about this problem and have some downloadable Hero 12 LOG recordings for people to get their hands on test. Cheers, Dave.

As it stands today the HDR is better than log. Log is to noisy. And standard is same as GP11.
