I know it hasn't been too long since you posted this but how have the Xberstar headband been holding up? I am still thinking on picking up the DT700's but buying this headband straight away to avoid this issue hopefully all together.

Do you use stabilizer or it's just the phone? 'Cause it looks pretty damn stable, just amazing. And the camera quality and amount of detail under these lighting conditions is just awesome, hard to believe.

I Love a bit of dek101 😊 . GOPRO haha this is the first year ever I did not buy one, that's says it all from a propper fan boy . In 2024, there should be an action waterproof cam with some optical choices rather than just fish eye out of focus bricks . Mind I don't want to stir the hornets nest on that front . Hi Dave. In the Tesco car park, I thought the footage looked great. Almost what I'd expect from the Sony RX100 series several years ago. Very little warping and its handling the low light well. It's a different story when you moved towards no light wt the end. You could see it struggle there....but to be fair, most cameras would struggle in that light. Even expensive cameras would struggle in that light without a lens which gives low aperture. Cheers. Kevin

To be honest, yes the lens refraction issues are a real pain with the street lights. However, I am actually impressed with the overall quality of the exposure and quality, for a phone. This was the Apple Camera app in fully auto using the main 24mm camera lens on the rear. The audio was the built in mics. I centred one channel of the stereo recording, limited it to raise its level and rode the level when turning the phone around to even out the level as the dialogue dropped off when behind the phone. The recording was not in ProRes, as I said in the video, it was H.265 or HEVC in 4K UHD at 24FPS. The upload file was an export from DaVinci Resolve using H.265 and the Apple hardware encoder. The video bitrate was 100,000Kb/s with a slow two pass and in 10 Bit 4:2:0. With the audio was auto limited for RUclips -14 LUFS. Here's some BS that VidIQ suggested, lets see if this works. I also have a Beyerdynamic DT 700 Pro X and I had the exact same issue, conveniently they actually sell this part called "DT 700 PRO X Headband Padding" for about $30, so you don't need to replace the entire headphone. However, I have been getting some weird intermittent connection issues with the cable, the sound would be cutting in and out. I'm considering switching back to Audio-Technica.

Hey Dave. I really enjoyed the video. We really are tech support for the masses 😂😂😊 I laughed at the part about being corrected about bits Vs bytes, 1,000 Vs 1,024 etc. I swear the same pedantic guy has commented on all my hard drive videos haha. I don't recall you ever saying anything incorrect. Funnily, I work in IT and have heard many people misspelling and saying the wrong terms...and you know what...no one cares as we know what they meant. We've spoken about how rewarding it is to connect with viewers in the comment area. We've both made connections to people in the comment area who share our love of tech. However, I think anyone who uses RUclips knows that the comment area can be disgustingly toxic. Unfortunately, RUclips doesn't do anything to people who are horrible in the comment area. Yes, there is a link to report abuse and spam etc, but nothing ever comes from it. The user is not banned from using RUclips so they are free to post racist remarks every day. I believe the comment area should be open to anyone and everyone to give their opinion on videos, even if those comments disagree with what was said in the video. Of course, that doesn't give people the right to be racist and abusive. This is the free speech Vs hate speech issue that most social media platforms suffer from. Having the right to express yourself doesn't give you the right to post racist remarks. I'm sorry you've had to suffer from that. There is no excuse for. It's kinda crazy that people would write so many hateful comments when all you are doing is publishing reviews and tutorials online. Your videos don't focus on religion or politics or anything controversial...so I just don't understand why some people are such twats. Dave, you seriously are my favorite YTer and Vlogger! I've recently come to the realization that the vast majority of viewers are "silent viewers" and only a small percentage acutually comment and that those comments are no where indicative of how the majority feel. That said, I think the root of the problem is that Comment Culture on YT is f'ed up. And like you said, the need of a creator "to engage" to grow a channel fuels this. I'm half tempted to turn off comments on all of my channels & videos and see what happens lol! The whole thing can feel like a vicious cycle that you can't break free from over ever win. For example, tons of motovloggers ask me for mic recommendations (despite the fact I've never ridden a motorcycle or even alluded that I have). But these folks are desperate for someone to help them. So I do some critical thinking and make suggestions for actual motofolks to try based on a bunch of different factors, taking into careful consideration what kind of helmet they wear. What kind of clothing they wear. The style of bike and how they sit on it. The actual sounds they want to pick up and those they don't want to pick up. Their budget and complexity/ease of use. Where they mount their cameras... etc. Factors they don't even realize can impact how they record themselves. Many are super appreciative that I've actually applied some audio knowledge to help guide them in their unique situations. Then I get comments like "He doesn't even ride a motorcycle, I'm not going to trust anything he says!" Hmm, turning off all comments is starting to sound better and better...

I've had a ton of headphones break down over time. Like yours, it's usually the foam in the headband that goes first. I'm going to keep my eyes out for some new headphones too. At the moment, I'm using a wired gaming headset when video editing. They work ok, but are far from perfect. I have some jabra wireless headphones which have noise cancellation etc, but the latency makes them impractical. Fine for watching videos and doing calls, but not for editing.

I love the sound out of my Beyerdynamic DT 700 Pro X headphones but they have a bad design as far as the foam cushion for the headband is concerned. These are my second pair of DT 700 Pro Xs and the exact same thing has happened and the foam pad on the headband has fallen apart. I would be less critical if I were putting undue stress on the headphones. However, they are permanently at my work table, connected to my monitor for general playback or connected to my audio interface for mixing. They most certainly aren't being used outside of what they were designed for. While I have no problem with the rest of the construction of the headphones and as I've already said, I love their sound. I will be seriously considering replacing these with another brand, such as Sennheiser, AKG etc. My advice to you is to seriously consider this issue if you are thinking about buying a pair of Beyerdynamic DT 700 Pro X headphones. Hahaha apparently the iPhone Blowjobs is sold out 😂 I agree with what you said on these comparisons. They just don't make sense. A better comparison would be an iPhone Vs an old digital camera. In a video I watched recently, they compared the iPhone 16 Pro to a 15 year old digital camera. They did pixel peep...but the whole point was to emphasise how ridiculous the megapixel marketing is that phone companies are still pushing.

Hi Dave hope you're well. Agreed 24mm is a bit tight for the selfie vlog, but overall the 24 mm setup works OK. The stabilisation and audio were very good and would work for vlogging, maybe with a longer or adjustable in length selfie stick. Best wishes stay safe Jon

Hi Dave. Good to see an honest perspective on this. I watched the Apple 16 launch event and unfortunately, the usual RUclips shills were raving about the new camera setup before actually trying it. I've since watched some reviews of the iPhone 16 Pro on some photography channels, who came to a similar conclusion to yours. That is, the bump up to 48 megapixels is misleading as it's nothing more than the canvas size. All it does is increase the size of image files, which then leads people to using iCloud more because of their storage being used up quicker. They did some comparisons which showed the 3X on last year's pro outperformed the 5X. They also zoomed in on images taken from incredibly old digital cameras which showed how poor the image quality was in comparison. Obviously, the iphone has to work with tiny camera sensors, but it highlights how misleading megapixels are as a specification and it just does not seem like they've improved the cameras significantly this year. With regards to the DJI Osmo Action 5. I've been watching some reviews of it. Like Apple, there are some RUclipsrs who got the camera early and have been raving about it. I''ve since read on Reddit that DJI have not sent the camera early to any RUclipsrs that gave any sort of criticism.That's obviously not going to surprise you as it's unfortunately standard practice now. The camera does seem to have many strong points. It's priced fairly, has a decent amount of internal storage, really good battery life and decent low light performance (for an action camera). When I delved deeper on Reddit, I saw lots of complaints from people who bought the camera. They pointed out the low bit rates, which is one reason why the quality is poor in some situations. They're also applying some weird filter to artificially improve the image, but it looks weird in some situations. Despite all of this, I still think it looks like a good alternative to the GoPro 13 this year given it's entry price. It seems like a good bundle overall. Thanks. Kevin

iPhone 16 Pro Max Main Camera Lens Test for Field of View for Selfie Vlogging to See if 24mm is OK This is a very specific test to see what the field of view FOV is like using the main 24mm camera lens, very specifically for selfie vlogging. For me personally, I still think the 24mm focal length of the main camera lens produces an FOV that is just a bit too narrow for the selfie vlog. While the iPhone 16 Pro Max still suffers the problems of the iPhone 15 pro max for skin tones and there doesn't seem to be any major noticeable difference between the two phones. I do have a lot of time for the main 24mm when left at 24mm. And you can definitely get a really nice picture when treating the phone as you would a "proper" camera, with things such as manual exposure, white balance, focus etc. With an appropriate app. What do you think? Great to see you back Dave. I can relate to what you say. Some RUclips videos are painfully boring to produce. I know that we need to get a return from what we put into all of this, but we need to enjoy it too. There's a lot to be said about just creating the videos you love.

To be honest I jibbed RUclips as well. I've been over on Tik Tok, but that is doing my head in, too many fannies on there. Good to be back and to have you back.

Hi David hope you're well, glad you're back, definitely my favourite RUclipsr and vlogger looking forward to watching more testing on this channel. A quick question, my GP8 although working OK the rear screen has decided to stop working and is completely useless and is just blank, GP is working and recording but I can only use it with the GP app, do you think a factory reset would sort it out.
