- Dr Choi takes a paramedic shift and struggles to rescue a burn victim within his own home due to extreme hoarding.
Season 1 Episode 16 "Disorder"
Dr. Charles and Dr. Rhodes misdiagnose a patient presenting with mental and heart problems with dementia. Meanwhile, Dr. Manning and Reese treat a dog biting victim, Dr. Choi tags alongs with the paramedics and receives a call from a burn victim who lives like a hoarder. Meanwhile, Sharon warns everyone at the hospital to be on their professional behaviour when the Joint Commission visits.

This is a year old but I'd just like to point out how they added in sound effects to subtly show Dr. Choi was having flashbacks to his time he served as an army doctor. I thought it was a nice touch, showing how sometimes it's not just the visual hallucinations that came with flashbacks, but it can also be auditory. As someone who's been diagnosed with PTSD, I thought that was a nice touch. Way more tactful than if they just straight up showed clips of soldiers battling each other or being injured

@@emiparrott9608 They're cute but now they're a sign of disease and bad hygiene because of things like the plague. So rats are seen as bad because of their past with the plague and spreading fleas and other diseases.

Second of all, he's a hoarder, thats just the way he was brought up, and hoarders tend to make more emotional attachments to things and have An extremely difficult time letting things go or throwing things away. @@blenderfox oh yeah, totally agree. I'm about as desensitised to gore as possible yet my stomach did churn a little at the sight of their leg just being sliced right up, especially with all the blisters and stuff from the burns.

There might be some context that we're missing here. I think Dr. Choi may be having questions about his mental sanity or PTSD or something, hence he is very relieved when the "2nd person" he is hearing is just a parrot.

He is suffering from hoarding. It is a mental disorder. We got some people suffering from this and cleaning their place usually does not help. They will go back to hoarding stuff.

This kind of scenario is what is keeping me from becoming a hoarder. I already have too much stuff, but I am also in chronic pain so I try to keep the place tidy and contain the stuff I have in 1 room ( it is nothing like this, it is organised, just that it's a lot).
