Just understand your own budget and don't buy into anything you can't afford like an idiot and let the rich people throw their money at this thing till it's complete and then you can get that stuff without sacrificing an arm and a leg.
I know, right? Big ships like this need a crew to operate. Its mostly going to be orgs that purchase it. Having a battleship for serious escort missions for org operations.
Or don't buy any ships at all, and get the starter ship and make your way from there. I'm surprised how many stupid people there are whom won't even do any research nor understand the basic concepts of crowdfunding.
People find it is entirely okay for a game to take years and years to make, as long as they don't know about it's existence. However, that's simply not how crowdfunding works. AAA publishers get away with it cause it's out of their own company with predestined cash. Never needing to announce it until its nearly done. They don't the need additional cash to make it.
Crowdfunding literally is not ever supposed to be a fair trade. Basically, what you're doing is you're throwing money at developers in the faith that they fulfill their promises. let's not pretend that people buy expensive ships in goodwill to "fund the game" though. you really want to fund the game? write CIG a cheque. if you checked out the RSI forums and starcitizen subreddit, you'll see anyone talking about purchasing ships for the purpose of wanting the ship, not because they think "CIG deserves our money let's fund them!". this is CIG being smart enough to cash in on people who have the money to spend, and are willing to. fair play to both CIG and the consumers. i'm not going to judge their financial choices. but anyone who thinks people buy to fund CIG out of goodwill are either delusional or in denial.
chuhrros I think you are partly right. People are not that one dimensional. Greed is not the only deciding factor when backing money for Star Citizen. I know I wouldn't have spent that much money just for an advantage in game.
* Elfwyn * i didn't say they buy ships to own ships for advantage over others. there's a variety of reasons to wanting to own ships. i used to have a temptation to buy cars in driving games, or other in-game assets in other games. and it's just for aesthetic/collection appeal. nothing advantageous. in a space/sci-fi game, ships serve as the vehicles you need to facilitate whatever sci-fi/space game fantasy many fans of the genre have been craving. what kind of sci-fi life would you want to have in this grandiose sci-fi universe? yeah, ships will facilitate that. that is the rationale, and it's not about advantage, and it's not black and white or one-dimensional either.
+Sovietskikh, Here's Chris Roberts reasoning on why it isn't "pay to win" (essentially there is no "win"): “Star Citizen is NOT "Pay to Win" it is "Pay for Convenience." Some players have a lot of time on their hands and will be able to play the game and obtain items through their dedicated play. Some players do not have a lot of time to contribute to the game like others and may want to spend some real money to help obtain a ship that they want to try out (since you can't buy directly new ships in the game except for starter ships - per above). In addition...Star Citizen is NOT "Pay to Win" it is "Pay to Develop the Game" Many players have the view that they are just pledging for their ship that they want to play to give them an advantage in the game - for the type of game they want to play. The above ^^ maybe partial true but the primary "reason" for pledges is to help to "Develop the Game." Star Citizen is a "Crowd Funded Game" and would not exist at the level we hope and expect without our pledges (the ships are just a nice "side perk" to our pledges) Ultimately... There is " NO WINNING " and there is " NO END GAME " .... in Star Citizen You can't "win" in Star Citizen because it is like Real Life. In real life you set goals and achieve those goals - and those goals are relative to your current situation. You can continue to strive for goals that may seem unachievable but that doesn't mean you ever "loose" in life or in Star Citizen. So... if someone "Starts" the PU with an Idris they can achieve their goals faster and more efficient than a player that starts with an Aurora... right?? -- NO this is WRONG ---- The player with the Idris will have Loftier (more dangerous) goals.... and the Aurora will have easier (less dangerous) goals. One goal is not "better" than the other... and there is no stat or "status" for having the most UEC or most Ships in the game. The Goal is to have fun. There is no "end game" in Star Citizen... it continues... there is no "conclusion" or "final raid" like there is in other games. Even Squadron 42 (that will have 50 missions to start) .... will continue and more missions will be created.”

the game runs fine in single player, the issue is the shitty netcode which fucks framerates while in the Persistant Universe. they say they will implement a new netcode which will greatly improve the framerate in the 3.0 patch later this year
They are. The current framerate issues are server related, not optimization issues. For instance, everybody gets around 20fps on the Persistent Universe (big multiplayer) but I get 70+ fps in Arena Commander multiplayer.
The amount of misinformed people in the comments is insane. The ship does not cost 700$+ It's a pledge to fund the game and you get the ship as a reward. It's how they're continuing to fund money they need for development. *YOU CAN BUY THE SHIP WITH INGAME CASH ONCE THE GAME LAUNCHES* And if you're bitching about delays, here's a graph of development time for AAA titiles and MMOs hitbox.fr/files/2015-08/Star%20Citizen/gamedevtimesyoz75.jpg Now calm down. The only reason you think this is taking so long is cos we knew about it from the very start. Usually games are announced once they're 90% done if not more, so people only wait up to a year for release. The game is trying to redefine the industry and genre. It's gonna take a while. Years. The MP is years from launch. If you're not happy with that, go follow something else in the meantime. The rest of us enjoy the incredible transparency they're doing in development.
i doubt that...i mean maybe they can fit in the cargo, but the hagar is only meant for one small fighter ship. i doubt it can carry another bomber of that size. but im not positive. personally though i want it to hold a prospector
well, the polaris i believe has some cargo space to it as well. and if you dont have to fill every manned turret, you probably only need a pilot, gunner, engineer, co pilot/fighter pilot, and maaaaybe a tail gunner. at least in terms of just flying and defending itself; basic oporations. polaris doesnt need to change out modules for living quarters. it just has them. the only extra stealth it has is that its smaller. i dont think black paint diffuses any sort of scan. they both have pretty sleek profiles for their respective classes. but i dont recall the retaliator being specifically stealthy the way the sabre, delta, and ghost are meant to be. but youre right, the larger the ship the larger the maintenance and opperating cost for fuel and such. so gotta have a plan
arguing which is the better cargo hauler is a little silly i think, because even if you keep one torpedo bay on a tali and make the other module cargo, those torpedos are meant for annihilation. youd be lucky to find some decent salvage left in the after math. and i doubt it would be a one and done type of opperation you could go and pick clean st your leisure anyway. besides, if you want to compare cargo haulers, look to the lancer max and the hull series (and maybe a couple others). thats not really what the polaris is for. my original point was this: in the case where a player is looking for gameplay involving a large multi crew ship with a massive payload of weaponry, the polaris has more bang and more to do on it, and can accomadate a larger group as well as give them living space without having to compromise modules. i wasnt even looking at ideal profit margins or peak efficiency of military combat in a heavy warzone, or even comparative stealth. my only point was that the polaris is basically like a larger, more diverse without the need for modularity, tali.
Good to see your logic on ship design is as stupid as CIG's. CIG will never learn how to design ships for their role or size. Lets design a Cap ship that has poor visibility and takes design principals from a fighter. In fact, lets design 98% of our ships as if there are fighters, coz we are creatively bankrupt and haven't got a clue why large ships should have a top mounted flight deck/cockpit. @@mikael7963

Sorry about no SQ42....but here's a $750 ship!
well yes and no. It does cost $750, but for the most part, you would spend that much because you want to fund the game
Also it is a ship for a minimum of 14 Players. So it is more like 45$ for each. That is the way it is meant to be played.
let's not pretend that people buy expensive ships in goodwill to "fund the game" though.
you really want to fund the game? write CIG a cheque. if you checked out the RSI forums and starcitizen subreddit, you'll see anyone talking about purchasing ships for the purpose of wanting the ship, not because they think "CIG deserves our money let's fund them!".
this is CIG being smart enough to cash in on people who have the money to spend, and are willing to.
fair play to both CIG and the consumers. i'm not going to judge their financial choices. but anyone who thinks people buy to fund CIG out of goodwill are either delusional or in denial.
chuhrros I think you are partly right. People are not that one dimensional. Greed is not the only deciding factor when backing money for Star Citizen. I know I wouldn't have spent that much money just for an advantage in game.
* Elfwyn * i didn't say they buy ships to own ships for advantage over others.
there's a variety of reasons to wanting to own ships. i used to have a temptation to buy cars in driving games, or other in-game assets in other games. and it's just for aesthetic/collection appeal. nothing advantageous.
in a space/sci-fi game, ships serve as the vehicles you need to facilitate whatever sci-fi/space game fantasy many fans of the genre have been craving. what kind of sci-fi life would you want to have in this grandiose sci-fi universe? yeah, ships will facilitate that.
that is the rationale, and it's not about advantage, and it's not black and white or one-dimensional either.
ugh another really badass ship I'm not gonna buy for $200 +
RUclipsPoliceDepartment tru
you just cant afford it lol
Wait till the game launches and earn it ingame. This isn't a pay to win game.
Technically it is. If it isn't, why are you able to purchase more effective ships for their respective roles at higher price points?
+Sovietskikh, Here's Chris Roberts reasoning on why it isn't "pay to win" (essentially there is no "win"):
“Star Citizen is NOT "Pay to Win" it is "Pay for Convenience."
Some players have a lot of time on their hands and will be able to play the game and obtain items through their dedicated play.
Some players do not have a lot of time to contribute to the game like others and may want to spend some real money to help obtain a ship that they want to try out (since you can't buy directly new ships in the game except for starter ships - per above).
In addition...Star Citizen is NOT "Pay to Win" it is "Pay to Develop the Game"
Many players have the view that they are just pledging for their ship that they want to play to give them an advantage in the game - for the type of game they want to play.
The above ^^ maybe partial true but the primary "reason" for pledges is to help to "Develop the Game." Star Citizen is a "Crowd Funded Game" and would not exist at the level we hope and expect without our pledges (the ships are just a nice "side perk" to our pledges)
Ultimately... There is " NO WINNING " and there is " NO END GAME " .... in Star Citizen
You can't "win" in Star Citizen because it is like Real Life.
Even Squadron 42 (that will have 50 missions to start) .... will continue and more missions will be created.”
my body is ready :)

Can you optimize the game more so that it's not as laggy or more complex graphic settings
the game runs fine in single player, the issue is the shitty netcode which fucks framerates while in the Persistant Universe. they say they will implement a new netcode which will greatly improve the framerate in the 3.0 patch later this year
They are. The current framerate issues are server related, not optimization issues. For instance, everybody gets around 20fps on the Persistent Universe (big multiplayer) but I get 70+ fps in Arena Commander multiplayer.
YOu wount see any optimizeation in alpha games.. all that stuff happens in BETA.
alpha is basically where they add all the features.
In the CitizenCon demo they have implemented the new network code and got ~120 fps in space and ~70 fps on a planet.
It's the servers that are hammered, performance in 3.0 will be improved greatly.
If only I had a good PC
*watches the last scene* ...row row fight the powah!
God has it been a year since the Vega colony attack?
"Good news everyone!"
The Polaris need's some size 7 weapon mounts somewhere on it.
It has good size torpedos
@@lunamaria1048 what about after you've launched your missiles and torpedoes?
@@stephenwillis744 apparently then it’s time to run. It’s not a fighter, more of a hit and run support ship.
Amazing ad!
The hype is real after 8 years of waiting and pain😂
We never forget and they will pay for it
The amount of misinformed people in the comments is insane. The ship does not cost 700$+ It's a pledge to fund the game and you get the ship as a reward. It's how they're continuing to fund money they need for development. *YOU CAN BUY THE SHIP WITH INGAME CASH ONCE THE GAME LAUNCHES*
And if you're bitching about delays, here's a graph of development time for AAA titiles and MMOs

Now calm down.
I take my hat off to you sir!
Retaliator Bomber is still my favorite.
I love in to but 5 Retaliator Bomber can be in Polaris.
i doubt that...i mean maybe they can fit in the cargo, but the hagar is only meant for one small fighter ship. i doubt it can carry another bomber of that size. but im not positive. personally though i want it to hold a prospector
if your reason for liking the retaliator is playing with a large crew in a ship with a payload of large torpedoes, i think the polaris wins
well, the polaris i believe has some cargo space to it as well. and if you dont have to fill every manned turret, you probably only need a pilot, gunner, engineer, co pilot/fighter pilot, and maaaaybe a tail gunner. at least in terms of just flying and defending itself; basic oporations.
polaris doesnt need to change out modules for living quarters. it just has them. the only extra stealth it has is that its smaller. i dont think black paint diffuses any sort of scan. they both have pretty sleek profiles for their respective classes. but i dont recall the retaliator being specifically stealthy the way the sabre, delta, and ghost are meant to be.
but youre right, the larger the ship the larger the maintenance and opperating cost for fuel and such. so gotta have a plan
arguing which is the better cargo hauler is a little silly i think, because even if you keep one torpedo bay on a tali and make the other module cargo, those torpedos are meant for annihilation. youd be lucky to find some decent salvage left in the after math. and i doubt it would be a one and done type of opperation you could go and pick clean st your leisure anyway. besides, if you want to compare cargo haulers, look to the lancer max and the hull series (and maybe a couple others). thats not really what the polaris is for.
my original point was this: in the case where a player is looking for gameplay involving a large multi crew ship with a massive payload of weaponry, the polaris has more bang and more to do on it, and can accomadate a larger group as well as give them living space without having to compromise modules. i wasnt even looking at ideal profit margins or peak efficiency of military combat in a heavy warzone, or even comparative stealth. my only point was that the polaris is basically like a larger, more diverse without the need for modularity, tali.
Almost one year ago from this video and game still not out
^ this guy feeling like an idiot, now that 85 ships ARE flyable. We won't see cap ships until server meshing is done in a year for obvious reasons
Where do I enlist?
If it's a new ship then where did you get the pictures of battles with it?
Nobody:.....
This guy: pLARIS!
remember becky from "How I met your mother" and her boat commercial?
this is kinda the same thing...
SHIPS! SHIPS! SHIPS!
Would make more sense to have the bridge on top, not at the front
The ship is meant for hit and run on capital ships and not a stand up fight.
@@mikael7963
why's the narrator sound like the one who did the old Dawn of war games?
Wish they would have done this more as a commercial rather than a straight call to arms. Just came over a bit cheesy compared to previous SC ship commercials
Would you like too know more? :)
