I was just coming to say this! It's basically Exodus 15:1. My Dad wrote his dissertation on this in graduate school. 😊
The Song of Moses and Miriam
15 Then Moses and the Israelites sang this song to the Lord:
“I will sing to the Lord,
      for he is highly exalted.
      Both horse and driver
he has hurled into the sea.

It's a combination of passages from the Hebrews' song at the sea in the Bible, which also is recited during Jewish daily morning prayers. Ashira l' Adonai = I will sing to the L-ord.

7:19 such a small moment, but to me it’s probably one of the most powerful in this entire movie. That old woman most likely spent her entire life in the Hebrew slave camp, and never once thought she would live to see the outside of those Egyptian walls, and you can tell that she’s terrified and overwhelmed by the way she leans against the wall, not even daring to try to step outside those gates. It takes the gentle encouragement of a child’s hand to give her the strength to move again, and the lighting getting brighter as they step out of those gates together is a wonderfully symbolic way to show that the future is brighter for them now.
Sorry for the mini rant, but I just had to point it out. 😊❤

I'm an atheist but I'm also a film composer, and through that secular lens, I've always been moved by how much emotional weight is put into the music/songs in The Prince of Egypt. The film version of this song makes me cry almost every time I hear it. The music itself is so powerful thanks to Hans Zimmer's orchestration and composition, and paired with those incredible voices, it becomes a perfect storm of musical harmony. The song has a strong message about believing in yourself above all else and, through that, how you're able to accomplish anything when you believe and have faith in yourself. Hope shines through the darkness.

This is why I love music so much. It doesn't always have to be a church song to hit your heart. I truly believe that sometimes God speaks to you through other people and that's what happened for me in this video. I have been a lamb(mariah fan) majority of my life and know that song backwards and forwards, but I NEVER felt the lyrics like I did today. I am entering into a space where I am now learning to trust my faith and take the leap, knowing God will always be there to catch me. Something that I have never been able to do before. Finding this video at this exact moment was my affirmation. Thank you ❤

and 3rd (Ad-nai is one of the 70 names of God) and we don't say the full name actually except for praying... but I guess that for this movie they make an exception and just because in the hebrew part, the girl starts chanting a piece of a "song" that is actually a poetry in the Torah, "Shirat HaYam" (the song of the sea) that they sang right after the red sea opened and they crossed. This part said "sing to Ad-nai with pride..." so now you can imagine how much power you could add to this moment and this song.❤️🎶

Even from an atheist standpoint, miracles can happen when we put that energy out in the world. It isn’t easy and the song doesn’t say it is easy to do. It’s so hard, but it’s okay to have faith good things can happen even if you have no proof otherwise. When you’ve done everything you can and just hope for the best. The sheer joy of the children followed by the strength of the adults voices filling the space gets me every time. The adult voices tell you how painful it is to keep going. The kid’s voices tells you that they are free to play and be kids for the first time.

Recently, my life changed a lot. There were days I lost my faith, there were times I even doubt my trust in God. The anxiety took place in my heart and now all that I do is cry. I thank God for this video. I could feel the embrace of the Holy Spirit, I could hear God talking to me through you.

I sang this in my High School choir and also the year before I joined the choir I would hear them singing it from downstairs (I would be upstairs in my history class). Such a beautiful song ❤

The kid part is a traditional song Mika Mocha! "Who is like you, my Lord!!??" You are correct. Adonai/Lord. When my family saw this in theaters, we gasped!!! Then started singing along ❤❤ Don't feel bad. I'm a 42 yr old man. I ALWAYS tear up, during this song

Top tip for (if you find it interesting!) a new viral song breakdown - I Put a Spell on You from Hocus Pocus - seriously would bring RUclips down! And Bette Midler is iconic! Loved this Prince of Egypt stint of vids. I find your content so intelligent, engaging and beautiful! x

May I add (to myself lol) - I'm Jewish but I completely appreciate and admire your own faith, and how you talk about Jesus here. I don't always enjoy listening in general to religious praise or piety (though I don't denigrate it), but in this context would happily listen to you tell me about the difference Jesus and belief in Him can make to your life all day :) Maybe because you are so obviously truthful and earnest. Thanks for the great vid! x
