Today's a good day for an Irish Coffee! St. Patrick's Day is right around the corner, I could use some caffein, and it's chilly where I am - so a hot Irish coffee sounds pretty good. However, I know not all of you are somewhere cold, and you may not want a hot drink. Not to worry - we're also going to make a cold brew Irish coffee! For this version we'll be using Mr. Black Coffee Liqueur because its bold coffee flavor holds up to dilution. Hot or cold - if you like coffee and you like cocktails, there's an Irish coffee for you. Cheers!

When there's Ireland 🇮🇪 and drinking there's also us Aussies thanks Mr. Black 🇦🇺🍻
The backstories for some of these drinks deserve their own Netflix specials, I swear - thanks for always coming with the deets, Anders! Love knowing the history of a drink before making it!
I know there some podcasts that go over history of cocktails, pretty cool stories
@@kylerobich omfg thank you for bringing this up!!! I’m new to all this but absolutely obsessed and i will dive right into those podcasts!
@@kylerobichsome are dead boring - BUT ! Not our Anders! Entertaining every time! Cheers
Can't go wrong with a hot Irish coffee that warms the cockles of your soul!
No you cannot - Cheers!
ANDERS! Nothing feels better than getting to the "Ingredients" segment of your videos and realizing I actually have the booze to make the freaking cocktail :). I've had Mr. Black chillin in my fridge for a while now and just recently picked up some Powers to mix other drinks with = let's do this! Thanks for this video and I formally submit a request for 4K content! Anders, brother, your production is amazing...give us the pixels bro! :).
Thanks, Gabriel! Need to upgrade some gear first, but we'll get there. Hope you enjoy the cocktail! Cheers!
These look great!
For my Irish coffees, I make a spiced stout sugar syrup using stout instead of water and simmering it with some cinnamon, cloves and star anise before adding the sugar. Makes it so much richer and perfect for a chilly day!
That sounds amazing! Cheers! 🥃
You have a recipe for that? That sounds awesome.
I’ve made this before with Guinness!!!
@@LALopezWei yeah, I take a 330ml can of stout, add a cinnamon stick, a couple of cloves and a star anise pod. Boil that on a low heat until its reduces down to about 250ml and strain out the spices. then add about 200-250g of brown sugar, depending on how spicy you like it.
I have a video on my channel if you want to check out my Irish coffee recipe.
heavy cream in the cocktail shaker #protip
Saw Irish Coffee and thought ... NO, Anders is gonna use Redbreast 12. Good to see Powers make its way into this classic. Good stuff. Anders once again practices what he preaches - drink what you like.
Exactly. Cheers! 🥃
I drank so many of these on a trip to Ireland. Well that and when I got a really bad cold, all the bartenders kept making me hot whiskey, with cloves poked in the lemon wheel, life changing.
Never thought of a cold Irish Coffee. Have to give it a try in summer.
Ahh yes, my first introduction to “hair of the dog.” Works like a charm and darn delicious.
Cheers to that! Dangerously good!
Long years ago, I found myself in San Francisco. We looked up the Buena Vista and enjoyed my first ever Irish coffee. Loved it! Had two or three. Maybe it was the geography or the climate the time of day, or the people I was with, but I've never had a better cocktail. Thank you...
I always thought it involved baileys :O thanks for the history lesson, ordering my mr black now cheers anders!
Cheers!
Great video. This Irish lass never thought to have it cold but I’ll definitely give it a try. Slainte 🍀
Hope you enjoy it!
ANDERS!!!! I need to try this!!! I love Mr Black and I'm going in!!! I love the animations!!!!! CHEERS!!!!
Thanks, Tim!! Cheers to you my friend!!
I love mr black coffee liquor since it is basically cold brew coffee elevated with vodka.
Agreed - an excellent liqueur! ☕️
I love your videos, please don't ever stop with the history of the drinks (I find it fascinating) or your into music. That music is yours now.
I remember Stanton Delaplane in the early 80s when I was a teen browsing through the newspaper in the mornings before going to school. He had a column in the San Francisco Chronicle.
"How do you like your coffee, sir?"
"Irish!" 🇮🇪☕🥃
Anders the ice Irish Cream coffee is brilliant. I would have never thought about making this. Of course, I need this drink in New Orleans from Mid-May to early October.
Made your cold brew using Red Breast 12 year, absolutely delicious!
I just made this for the first time, as a trial run before St. Paddy's Day. It is the best version I've ever had, by far. And relatively easy to boot! Normally I'll put some whiskey in my black coffee and be done. Not any more! Thanks Anders for the recipe. Sláinte!!
Love Irish Coffee and LOVE Mr Black. Easy combo to make into something great.
A winning combination! ☕️🥃
Highlight of the week! Thanks for the recipies! Will try both this weekend!! Cheers to you and Az!
Bought all of the ingredients (accept the syrup which is easily made) and made one for me and my wife. Wow that was some tasty Irish Coffee. Can't wait to taste the cold one in the summer.
Mr. Black is dangerously delicious. The guy knew what he was doing; it'll set any day right.
Just found you recently and been enjoying the videos. Really appreciate the tip re using a shaker for the whipping cream! And the history parts are a great touch!
My mums recipe was always 1tsp of Demerara sugar in the bottom of the glass, a double shot of Tia Maria coffee liqueur, fresh brewed coffee and double cream floated on the top…. Tastes like Christmas in our house! 🥰
In the original Foynes Port recipe they use brown sugar. This is how I make mine, it’s the best way imo.
Amazing liqueur MR Black!!! What you just did is a variation on a White Russian... Great video!!1
Love this recipe... man I need an Irish coffee right now
Man. You and your snob coffee. “Irish.” You wouldn’t know Irish if it walked up and married you.
Pure quality! Thanks for sharing your simple but captivating Irish coffees! Cheers
Love your videos Anders, keep ‘em comin! Currently a college student and love watching these videos every Friday so I can feel somewhat classy before I go out and drink cheap beer and harsh liquors all night lol
I made my first Irish Whiskey Coffee in about 20 years. I forgot how good this was and is. Was nice to see you using Mr. Black. I love it as well. No more Kahlua. Cheers!
Love it! Quite efficient of you to drink the hot one while making the cold one ;) They both look great, too.
Have to try the cold Irish Whiskey version! In a way, it's a cousin of the White Russian: Irish Whiskey instead of Vodka, it also a reversed ratio of spirit to modifier.
I love this channel, but this video was so awesome from start to finish! I love whiskey, and I love coffee, I can't wait to try both versions of the Irish coffee!
Mr black is awesome, a must buy. I always have another bottle of coffee liquor next to it in my bar: New Deal Distillery, it's just as quality but highlights the fruity and lighter notes of coffee compared to Mr Black's more roasty flavors.
Together they make a complete coffee section of your bar.
Theres a bar in dublin that does a "Belfast coffee", basically a cold brew irish coffee with poitín instead of whiskey and grated nutmeg garnish. It is divine, imo the flavours work together even better
I made the hot Irish coffee for dessert tonight. Beautiful recipe. The trick with making the whip cream in the Boston shaker was perfect.
I love watching you mix cocktails, Anders - you're as entertaining as you are informative! Have you ever done a video making your own sour mix? If not, could you please? Thanks, dude!!
Lovely and simple recipe! Thank you and great video as always Anders. These weekly uploads brighten my Friday. I'll substitute the Mr. Black with Kahlua. I like it sweeter.
Thanks, Joonha! A fun drink to kick off the weekend. Enjoy it, and cheers! 🥃
The well anticipated Friday cocktail history lesson. Thanks for another awesome video!
Cheers! Enjoy the weekend!
Great recipes! Can't wait to try em both
Thank you for this video! I never thought of Irish coffee cold; what a great idea!
Thanks for the recipe and the story!!!
I just made Irish coffee after reading the article in Imbibe a couple of issues ago. I like the idea of using a rich syrup instead of raw cubes, which I used. The hot coffee with the cold cream is just...mmmm.
I recently traveled to Scotland and Ireland. I was a big fan of Scotch until I had Irish whiskey. I had the best Irish Coffee at the Red Fox Inn, until I made your Irish Coffee. Thank you for
Both recipes, I am a big fan of Ice Irish Coffee.
I find Irish smoother, perhaps as smooth as a nicely aged (12 yr ) single malt Scotch.
This is perfect ! Exactly what I was looking for !
A great drink to make for brunch! Gonna make this tomorrow with the family, cheers!
So good. I also add a half ounce of rivulets when I’m at home to get a pecan taste to it.
Coffee sounds good. These sound good. I could see shaking the cold brew with coffee ice. That would be neat.
Thanks especially for the simple whipped cream method! Also, I recently made a hot Irish Coffee with the addition of a 1/4 oz of Benedictine after reading about it on Peter Suderman's Substack. Delicious!
That sounds incredible - Cheers!
One of my fav
Top of the Morning Anders. Have a great weekend. Cheers
Nice use of Mr Black …which is delish!
Mmmmm, I just got my bar equipment yesterday., the movers finally came. Just mixed up the cold version….Yum! This is delicious. First time I had Mr. Black coffee liqueur too. I don’t ever want to go back to Kahlua again. This is really good! Thanks Anders! Cheers
Hi Anders, I like Whisky/coffee/cream cocktails too. My favourite is a Boombox Espresso Martini; 40ml Irish Whiskey, 25ml Mr Black, 25ml Espresso coffee, 10ml Maple Syrup. Shaken with ice, double strain into coupe. Easily my favourite. Nick from York
They use Tullamore Dew in the Buena Vista I believe. Since Powers is not available to me, I'll try it with the Dew ☕
looks amazing 🍀
It's snowing here in michigan.... I have a hot Irish Coffee next to me at the moment...great pick! Also very delicious 😍
I love making my own version of Mr black it isn't hard to do definitely worth doing if you have a favorite bean
I was actually going to my favorite liquor store tonight to get the stuff for your espresso martini! Now I gotta make this as well. Looking forward to your signature Bloody Mary;)
Love the channel Anders, thank you so much for the incredible work! I got into making cocktails during the pandemic and your videos have been a massive part of that, I've learned so much! I think knowing the history behind a cocktail adds to the experience and appreciation immeasurably. Please tell me that you are planning on releasing a book? [Insert the take my money meme of Fry from Futurama here]
I would love an Anders book too
read my mind! just yesterday I was wondering if you have an Irish coffee recipe! I'm so glad I found your channel. You're full of charisma (both of you) and I enjoy just listening. Y'all should make a podcast 😁
Thanks, Alex! Hope you enjoy the recipes!
I have yet to find a place other than San Francisco (Buena Vista) that makes a good Irish Coffee. Like you said I am a "Snob" when it come to making them and it's all about the real fresh cream. I grew up in Europe and we Bar Tended in a 5 Star Hotel. Brown Sugar in the bottom of an Irish Whiskey or Wine Glass, add Whiskey and dissolve using steam from an Expresso Machine, Then add good coffee (Sumatra) and then the cream. Take a cold stainless steel bowl and whip in the heavy cream. Takes a minute to perfect consistency. and add on top. Thanks for sharing.
Looks great. I wish Mr. Black made a decaf version for those of us for whom coffee hours and booze hours are mutually exclusive.
Maybe use decaf coffee? 😁
trying this one for the first time today (already know it's good though, is just the first time trying to make it myself)
Anders! First, I love your channel! You have helped me build my bar and discover a real love for cocktails! If I may, are you able to make a cocktail sometime with Beirao? A pal brought me a bottle from Portugal and I don’t know what to make with it! I’d appreciate it if you ever find the time :)
I love a good Irish coffee
Had a layover in Shannon Ireland, so I had 2 of them,… 😂🍀☕️🍀😂
Would've made the same decision! ☕️ 🥃
Hi Anders ! I am from Europe and I always had Irish coffee with the three distinct layers. We don't mix the whiskey and the coffee. The whiskey is heated with sugar so it's heavier than the coffee and stays at the bottom. You should try this way !
Mr. Black is AWESOME! Love my espresso martinis with it. Will be making a cold Irish Coffee. 10% off?!! Guess its time for a restock!
Cheers legend!
Love your content man!
Sips the hot one while he's making a cold one 😜 I'm watching this at 830am, drinking my morning coffee and it's making wish I had some cream in the fridge!!
Made me laugh too
Got a bottle of Mr. Black, and can confirm. It is outstanding.
Thanks for the 10% off, Anders
Cheers!! ☕️
Great to hear!
Very nice! I will be in the City this weekend and sitting right at that bar at the Buena Vista, sipping this very drink (in front of that painting of the scene Neiman Marcus provided the BV). Cheers!
Love this.
If you ever make your way across the Wisconsin border and up to Madison, there's a place called State Line Distillery(nothing to do with said border) that makes my own favorite Coffee Liqueur. Great cocktail program overall, but the coffee liqueur is where it's at!
Anders and As, love the channel. I come here near the weekend to get ideas for what my wife and I will try/experiment for the weekend. LOVE your channel...did I say that already?
Okay, tried your cold Irish Coffee, in mine I used Bush Mills Irish Whiskey and Kahlua Coffee Liqueur as my main ingredients. LOVED IT! Really liked that you get the bit of sharpness of the alcohol but tampered with the creme. One of my fav drinks now!
Welcome to the channel! Happy you’re enjoying the content and recipes - Cheers!
I don’t know if you can get it in Chicago, but you have to try the Crater Lake hazelnut coffee liqueur. It is amazing. Best White Russians and Irish coffee I’ve ever had.
I love these for the contrast between the hot coffee and the cold cream. If I wanted to make my Irish Coffee warmer would it be better to dissolve sugar in the coffee or pre-heat the sugar syrup?
Happpy St. Patty's Day, Anders!
Try a protein shaker bottle for the heavy cream! Super heaps ez!
My favorite drink! Must be because of my Irish heritage LOL
Cheers Anders, I was never a big fan of the original Irish coffee. This cold version might be a game changer. 😉
Worth a shot, David! It does drink more like a standard cocktail. I think you'll love it - Cheers!
Kudos to Az behind the camera
That’s really funny that you posted this because I have been messing around with a similar original drink I whipped up for St pat’s day. 2oz powers Irish whiskey, 1.5oz mr black, 0.5oz amaro averna, and 2dashes fee bros aztec chocolate bitters, and 2 dashes el guapo spiced cocoa bitters stirred in a big rock of ice. Then shake up 2 oz of heavy cream and float atop the drink. Express an orange peel and discard.
Give it a try! Delicious!
i do get 'Excited' on St. Patrick's Day! i Can Be IRISH...for the DAY!! Hot Or Cold....Irish Coffee...'Top of the Morn'N...to Yah Anders! Cheers...your Canadian Bartender!..
Love it! Cheers to you!
Love the channel and love Irish coffee (a few trips to Ireland and playing 20+ years in an Irish pub band may have something to do with it) - I need to get some of the Mr. Black as well - one question - you are using Rich Demerara Syrup - I've been to Ireland 4 times - the place noted for Irish coffee is the Red Foxx pub at the 17th century recreation bog village on the way into The Ring of Kerry - watching them make it they added Raw (Demera Sugar) to hot water then topped with coffee - which seems like much the same thing - the molasses notes are what I think of. When I've had it made with super fine sugar it's missing something. My wife and I love iced coffee so I suspect we will be making that one a lot. Thanks!
So pleased you got round to Irish coffees, I make em all the time after big family meals..everybody looks forward to them and my wife and Brother in-law are Irish so it's rude not to..... I'm not good with whiskey in my coffee so I do Kahlua instead for me.....Looks same and tastes amazing. Gonna be trying the cold brew one I think as I would never have thought of that....thanks' :O)
Nice! Have you ever played with the “Coffee n Cigarettes”? Not the coffee liqueur versions, but the Rye /Gran Classico / Abano versions. Might be my all time fave cocktail.
I got an Irish root beer at BJ’s. It was SO yummy!
Love me some Mr Black.
Agreed. Cheers, Chris!
Jolly good video.
Love the Buena Vista! It was filmed in the date scene of original “Yours, Mine and Ours” movie with Henry Fonda and Lucille Ball.
I didn’t know that!
Using a Hario V60? Anders, you truly are a man of culture.
I get so mad anytime I see a drink with Mr Black. It looks delicious but here in Brazil I can only get my hands on things like Kahlua :P
Hope they can ship worldwide soon!
This has finally moved me to go get some Mr Black. I can't say I've had a great Irish coffee before. I think the cold version would be more my style. I can't wait to try it out!
Hope you love it! Cheers!
You are my go-to barman Anders, most of my bar has grown following your recommendations. Unfortunately with each video I end up buying more bottles 😂
Hard beat an Irish Coffee - hot or cold. Cheers Anders.
Aaaaand I still don't know the name of your intro song 😂 always put me in such a happy mood, please help me 🙏
I'm so intrigued by Mr Black - I love that it's less sweet, so I can boost the coffee flavour without adding a ton of sweetness. And I really want to make a tiramisu with it!
I've got a bottle on the way, and yeah I'll probably try an Irish coffee with it... And an espresso martini. And a ton of other cocktails 😅
Excellent! Now I want tiramisu 🤔
Try Cali-made BLACK HJERTE. Better than Mr. Black with A full French Press of PETE'S COFFEE in every bottle. Cali corn vodka base. Nice owner too. 🇮🇪
Tiramisus with Mr Black are super tasty!
