Elena Mukhina unfortunately became a quadriplegic after doing the Thomas Salto and died later from complications, she'd barely recovered from a leg injury and her coach made her come back too soon and she was tired from over training and the accident happened during warm up to a competition

LOL A) I'm *positive* MY C1 fracture was from a short Thomas Salto on floor (I was WAG; but, it was the 80s and I was fearless so...coach thought I should try it). C) It just occurred to me that almost none of the gymnasts competing today have ever used the old vault. LUCKY!
The way you perform your giant swing starting at 9:38 is my favorite p-bar skill to watch. 🥰🥰 Same with 9:48 ... I know there are more difficult and beautiful skills, but those are my favorite.
I believe that somersalt thing is called a Thomas Salto. Elena Mukhina broke her neck doing that move and it's why it was banned in women's gymnastics. My stomach got sick watching Nile do it. I am just shook that it wasn't banned in men's gymnastics.
The roll out skills were banned for women after Elena (birth name Yelena) Mukhina from Russia landed on her chin doing the Thomas Salto (1 1/2 twisting 1 3/4 back tuck with a roll out) and her spine snapped and she was a permanent quadriplegic and she later died after living as a quadriplegic for 27 years. The roll out skills were officially banned for men in 2017.
the gymanst who who did the thomas salto (the one with the rollout), elena mukhina didn't get a concussion, she ended up paralyzed from the neck down, they pushed her over her limits in training and she's now quadriplegic for life. that's why it was banned.

Nile i am a former top gymnastics sporter so i know how good that is and WOW 15.92 IS RIDICULOUS like wow incredible man really REALLY well done! greetings from the netherlands even thought i was still young i was already by my 11th competing in the championships of europ and was like 8th total! sadly cause of a neck injury (funny enough) i had to stop doing gymnastics keep up the great work and ill see you in the olympics next time! ;)
As a gymnastics coach you were good, you should have been a specialist in the sport. I loved the bar routine its such a beautiful full twist on top of the bar, so clean a crisp. The whole routine is nice to watch.
