What I love about this series is watching these highly trained athletes try similar sports but be absolutely stymied. Because it just goes to show how hard, even for the very talented, these sports are.
I think what it was was that his muscles were too big and limited his shoulder flexibility so he couldn't get them close enough to his head to close the gap and make it small enough that the ball wasn't getting caught there.
*Ian "Thor of the Hoop" Gunther* 😅😅 I was actually impressed by your hoop-work, for a male gymnast not used to having to do as much 'artistic/dance' (aka 'feminine') elements in your routines and skills you can be surprisingly elegant (we're pretending the walkovers didn't happen, and hoping your back is recovered, lol 😉). Looking forward to part 2! 😊
As a former rhythmic gymnast and huge fan of ELena Shinohara, IT MADE ME SO HAPPY TO SEE THIS VIDEO FROM IAN!!! Also, yes please to more long form content~ :D
Great job, Ian! It was fun watching you try to execute the different components of Rhythmic Gymnastics. I appreciated your good humour, patience and perseverance. 🙂
3:48 you can do that with a cartwheel instead of a front walkover 5:58 you can increase difficulty by doing a backward roll immidiately after catching 8:43 the knot actually came from the spirals you were doing when Elena was showing you her spirals earlier this is actually one of the best gymnastics videos i've watched (as a rhythmic gymnast myself)
I enjoy how Ian commits 100% to all sports he tries. This is a great episode that shows how how specialized men’s gymnastics is, but Ian is so well coordinated that he quickly picked up the skills. I’m not saying we’ll see men’s rhythmic gymnastics competitions anytime soon, but if we do, I know he’d be the first to raise his hand.
man this was a great introduction I usually just do calisthenics and shit but I've gotten into rings and gymnastics lately and this is really an art like wow like what she just showed us today was beautiful wish i learned about this stuff earlier haha
2:53 'thats so scary' dude ive gotten 3 concussions from clubs and almost blinded from ribbon (the stick hit my eye after a pullback) you'll be okay, hoop hurts the least
When i studied fine arts it was the same. Some classes were elective and several students from different courses were doing the same. I kept looking at the guy on my left during portraiture class. He was in sculpture and I was Drawing, and I remember thinking damn i wish i could do the shading like he did. When our professor passed by he started chatting with us two. Turns out the guy on my left was actually thinking the same about my work 😂 even in different types of art, there will always be niches and people you can learn from and vice versa.
If you want more long form content like this let me know! Who should I collab with in the future?
we NEED @sofiedossi and contortion video ^^
Haha yes😂😂
The long form content is fun! I would love to see you try some cheerleading stuff 📣
YES PLEASE!!! Much prefer long form content over TikToks and Shorts.
YESSSS IVE BEEN WAITING FOR YOUR LONG CONTENT

Loved watching you go outside your comfort zone :)

Ian did great!! We gotta do this again~~

That hoop catch after the cartwheel was so impressive! I was just so impressed by everything from both the whole time
That was all luck haha!
I dunno, you pretty much nailed all the hoop tricks, maybe it’s your calling!!
you can tell she usually teaches this to kids💀
Lol
Ian looked so pretty doing the ribbon thing at the end
Thanks 💅🏼
She's so sweet and a great teacher!
ian’s muscles were too big to roll the ball over them lmao
I doubt that
I think what it was was that his muscles were too big and limited his shoulder flexibility so he couldn't get them close enough to his head to close the gap and make it small enough that the ball wasn't getting caught there.
It would be really nice to see your guest do a demo of their normal kind of routine at the end, to see what it looks like at their actual level!
Next option: Japanese Men's Rhythmic Gymnastics, which is actually a completely different sport despite the same name.
😂
Spanish men's Rhythmic Gymnastics then?
@@RoxblázquezVila I think that Spanish MRG is the same sport as FIG women's RG.

No but rhythmic gymnastics looks very difficult. She was amazing, and very impressing :0

Would love to see you collab with a ballet boy/ballerino or someone who does acrobatics (cirque du soleil stuff).
PS. When you go for ballet I'm sure Eva Nys will have some tips for you as she follows pre-pro's at the American school for Ballet.
This was so much fun to watch! Thanks for all the laughs! 😂😂😂

Slow motion walkovers really show the shoulder mobility you need.
She's a really good teacher!
I feel like Ian was born to do a full routine. Lol. He caught on quickly and the enthusiasm is there. He had a great teacher too.
He was so good at the ribbons.
The sound effect and animations made me giggle so hard. Great video overall and tbh you were so much better than anticipated!
Can’t wait for part 2!!!!

I got an anxiety attack watching Ian do a back walkover. I was so scared he was going to break his back........
I always thought they were bowling balls 😂😂
She's a great teacher 😂
that jason bourne joke was gold
ian was so transfixed by the ribbons and ngl I would be too 😭
The fact that this is 11:11 long just makes it better
I love her energy 🥺🥺
The "donk" sound when the ball hits Ian's head XD I'm losing it
Love the better overall quality! Keep it up :D
Yay, thank you!
@@iangunther Do you think you’re gonna stream again anytime soon? 👀
I love Elena's cheerfulness in combination with your faces, like all of them. :D
You two have a great energy.
I'm surpries Ian didn't break the hoops
I think the both of you are an awesome team.
Love the positivity.
Ian is just infinitely effing adorable

Ummm, there are, in Spain and in other countries too.
the echo on the uhm made me laugh unnecessarily hard
1:04 bro suddenly went breakdance style and did an invert freeze for a second lmao
Ian: you don't have to gaslight me 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Her toe point is amazing!
You should try bouldering climbing too! Flexibility, strength and balance are all related.
❤I love this video Ian tried so hard to catch the hoop.😂
Rhythmic gymnastics is a lot harder than most people think.
"don't break yourself" 😂

Ian is damn funny 😂😂🤣 he's sooo scared to hold the between his legs cause have to protect his future 😂😂😂
She is so nice! 😊 You can imagine how she motivates the 5 year old! 🤣🤣🤣👍
She’s so sweet and so talented!
Jason Bourne 😂😂 I love the humor in these
I literlly felt so bad for ian, I really felt the pain by the back walkover 🤯
Beautiful video! What a talented pair of athletes!
We need an ELena tries artistic with you!!!
This is actually a new dating tactic but the trade off is that you literally have to do cartwheels and jump through hoops 😂
Rhythmic gymnastics is so Mesmerizing to watch
2:53 'thats so scary' dude ive gotten 3 concussions from clubs and almost blinded from ribbon (the stick hit my eye after a pullback) you'll be okay, hoop hurts the least
Doesn’t mean it’s not scary chill out
Literally waited so long for this collab🎉🎉

The editing is top notch! 💪🏼
Ian was acting like such a child in this it made me laugh so much
✨I FEEL LIKE HARRY POTTER!
LEVIOSA!✨
This made me really appreciate the work that goes into rhytmic gymnastics, instead of just dismissing it as naked girls.
bro- Ian is so good at RG as a beginner like wtfff
yall are so goofy lol great vid!
The editing is 🔥🔥🔥
I loved this collab! He was made to be a rhythmic gymnast
Ok, but the Mortal Kombat edit from your first back walkover 🤣🤣🤣🪦👻💕
not him not even bending his back but using his shoulders in the bridge position in his walkovers at the start....
I'm just in love with Ian his smile! 😮
I find it so bizar that a elite gymnast can't do walkovers 😂
Ian's so meek.. He's so cuuute 🥰
You are amazing! Love these long form videos! Maybe collab with Jack and Bailey Payne? They have great videos and competitions.
9:50 "Cardioid" ... Wow, looks like pretty boy has a brain too. Dang, brain and brawn in one total package. It's unfair.
I would like to see female artistic gymnasts vs. female rhythmic gymnasts.
