Donny Osmond began his career in show business when he was 5 years old. He has been a singer, actor, triple-threat television series host (talk show, game show, variety show), best-selling author, commercial spokesman, motivational speaker and even a racecar driver.
Donny has sold over 100 million albums and is currently headlining a solo residency at Harrah’s in Las Vegas. It’s been voted Best New Show and Best Performer by the public in the Best of Las Vegas honors from The Las Vegas Review Journal.
Donny was kind enough to chat with me and I asked him the following questions:
Can you tell me about your Las Vegas show?
You and my friend Drew Barrymore were both famous when you were my age. What was that like?
What’s the main thing you’ve learned over all your years in show business?
How have you remained true to your values while being super famous?
What is your favorite junk food?
What do you like best about being a grandpa?

Donny reminded me of what my mom used to say…. Success is 2% talent and 98% hard work. Of course Donny’s 2% is enormous.

I grew up in Utah Valley at the same time as The Osmonds. I had several personal experiences with them. The first was an outdoor event where the very young Osmonds performed at a local community fair in the parking lot of my high school. Another time I was at a hair salon I had never tried before; but, had been told he was THE BEST- while waiting for my appointment (small salon, I was the only waiting client and there was only 1 stylist who was busy with his client) the phone rang. This was way before answering machines! The stylist asked me if I would answer the phone-which I did. The stylist asked me to get a name and call back number; but as soon as the voice on the other end said Donny Osmond I told the stylist I thought he would want to take the call-and he did!
Another time I was working at a custom drapery shop and went with the installer to hang the drapes at the Osmond family home.
Last time was while attending one of my parents best friend’s funeral who was a neighbor of Marie Osmond my sisters ran into her in the ladies room and Marie also sang a solo during the service…. I always like to listen to interviews with Donny; but, this one with Emmy is the best yet,
This is a very sweet loving interview 💖, my older cousins had posters of the Osmonds all over their wall, and specially of Donny, I'm so glad he's a great performer, many blessings to him 💫

I remember your dad asking for suggestions and I suggested the whole Osmond family. Donny bei g the first. Every interview is special and adds to my knowledge. Remember, it's ok to make a mistake without beating yourself up and, most importantly, be kind to yourself and to others. Great job Emmy… Donny Osmond is one of my absolute favorites and has been since I was about your age Emmy. I’m now 56
So fun watching you interview Donny, Emmy. Donny and I are close in age so when I was a young teen, I too was in love with him. I wish I would have known that he didn't mind his fans approaching him. One time I was at an airport picking up a friend's aunt when I was a teenager, it just happened that Donny was in concert in the city I was in. My friend and I were walking in a walkway and don't ya know, Donny and 3 other people were walking towards us. There weren't any other people in this area except us. My head was spinning.. do I act like a crazy fan and yell and squeal like a fan or do I just quietly walk past him. I chose the latter and as we walked by him, he looked at me and nodded his head as he looked at me and my knees went weak. lol I was so glad I didn't act like a crazy fan. So great watching this interview. Donny looks as good today as he looked waaaay back then. Take care and be well, Emmy. Love your interviews.
