For explorer of the Woodlands, I backed it because in France we can back it for 15€ and then pay the other 15€ to a partner shop once it's delivered there, no shipping, so, in this case, that's a good value.
Absolutely devastating week for my wallet...Missed out on The Great Wall on the first go around, so I'm all-in on that,...plus Autobahn and Distant Skies/Sleeping Gods.
You keep loading terrible dad jokes at the beginning of your videos and I am going to continue hitting that "Like" button out of sheer spite for you. Every single video.
Been meaning to look into sleeping gods! Haven’t tried the predecessors but loved hearing your thoughts as always on these, especially with the improvements 💪🏽 p.s. love your mug! 👌🏽
Lawyer Up Season 2, Sleeping Gods, and The Great Wall (if you want the meeple version) all seem to be retail buys for me. I think Sleeping Gods will have more secondary market options in the future as people feel they've experienced it enough and look to sell it.
I've backed Bedeville Carnival and Sleeping Gods no questions. Yesterday I backed Explorers of the Woodlands because I like idea of an accessible child-friendly dungeon crawler. I am flipping back and forth between Assault on Doomrock - for now my only question mark is changes in shipping costs. It looks great!
About Assault on Doomrock. I own and played versiin 3.0 or something like that. This one should be 4.0. Art and humor are awesome. Rulebook wasn't that bad. Adventure phase is quite fun, and could be fine pretty fast. Fights works well. On the negative I would say that it was way more difficult that I expected for game that size. I played two characters solo and always had hard time to defeat even first encounter. It's like Valor&Villany artstyle and somewhat Kingdoms Forlorn gameplay (adventure and combat phase) with lots of dice rolling (for tests on adventures and to activate abilities). It worked quite well on TTS so You can try it that way.
One of our top 5 games easy, and this one looks to add a ton of fine tuning, balancing and extra goodness. Also didn't shorten playtime, but broke it up so each of 3 Acts so it's easier to play a single Act, then saved, then picked up again on another night
Sigh - you tipped me over the edge on Sleeping Gods and Last Light while earlier today Thinker Themer convinced me to pick up both For Northwood and Birds of a Feather: Western North America and, while I was watching this very vid, I saw the launch announcement for the new Shem Phillips game Wayfarers of the South Tigris... I' ve never had 5 games simultaneously pending campaign completion before. This is going to be a VERY expensive fortnight!
So excited for Assault on Doomrock Ultimate. I can't wait to get my hand on those poker chips and just lose over and over again until I give in and start giving my characters the Over Powered traits lol.
Autobahn is more of a midweight euro, based on the BGG ratings and reviewers. It's at a 3.14 right now, so I think it looks more complicated than it is.
Having already a dozen KS/Gamefound games waiting to be delivered I am trying to not back anything else for a while. Fortunately not much of interest to me lately (distant skies a bit but so far it's a wait for retail) :)
I've been a good boy with crowdfunding so far this year... And I finished this video feeling strong! Not that I'm not tempted... At the same time, I'm not sure you covered in a previous episode the new campaign around Maglev Metro and the 6 new boards and new components etc. Never played but I'm so tempted, as it's impossible to find at least in this part of Europe! Did I miss one of your recent videos? Pledge closing in a day or so...
Slow week for me luckily, Great wall was tempting but controlling a third faction since I mainly play 2 players combined with the longer gameplay will mean it will probably stay on the shelf. Money saved 😁
Sleeping Gods definitely holding its value. Sold my KS copy which is more than enough to pay for Distant Skies. Looking forward to Distant Skies because I think it will be more manageable solo. My wife grew less enamored with Sleeping Gods as we wrapped up the campaign and I didn't want to manage 9 characters to attempt a second campaign.
This is going to be a "bad" month for crowdfunding -- budget-wise. There are so many games that I'm interested in: The Great Wall, Sleeping Gods, Last Light, Anastyr, and Euthia
Might be worth mentioning the Forteller app module included in one of the pledge levels of Sleeping Gods Distant Skies is likely a sunk cost. I didn't see any way to transfer that if selling the game.
Thanks for posting. I was going to note that as well. In one of the comments on Gamefound Ryan mentioned they don't currently have plans for 3-d resources (so much for that reveal on April 28).
Hey Alex, great vid! Correction: The 3D resources for Sleeping Gods are for the original game (maybe DS too tho). They had upgrades for metal coins, resources, and the ship in the original game.
Hopefully gamefound starts to move in this direction! There has been talk about gamefound making their own manufacturing factory and taking care of all the shipping logistics. Hopes and dreams!
With several language editions not being part of the Kickstartet I doubt that Wayfarers will hit the million mark. But I sure will pick up my language version and the sweet coins. Love this game already!
Assault on doomrock ultimate edition is on tabletop simulator to try out to see if you like it. The "shorter" (from my understanding) really is that you can save after each fight and/or you can skip the adventuring phase to just do the boss rights. I'm backing it but it's definitely not for every one.
I always hear you say that we can wait for the game to come to retail. Is there a good store/website for picking up former kickstarter board games? I either cannot find a game im looking for or its on amazon for a lot of money.
I was in on Assault on Doomrock and you actually just convinced me to cancel my pledge. I think there's plenty of games I'm more excited about that I've already backed and I feel that Doomrock will be disappointing in comparison. I'd rather put that money to something else that looks interesting like Great Wall. I'm not sure if that helps you resist, but I thought I'd share.
Assault on Doomrock looks meh to me. Don’t back it Alex! Hold strong with me. 😁 Although, I will need your Not to Back counter FOMO to stop me from going all in on Anastyr. So tempting but I can’t keep backing everything that looks amazing. Too many games look amazing. I don’t have time for all of it.
Assault on Doom Rock sounds fun especially reading the comments but the moment you said abstract you lost me haha. I like immersion and so does my fiancé so he probably won't play it.
I think that you should absolutely get Assault on Doomrock. Of course, I say that despite never having pulled the trigger on it myself even though I've been following it since the very first Kickstarter... :) I'm torn by Castles by the Sea. I love the theme but I would want the deluxe everything pledge for $75 and there are too many other great-looking games on Kickstarter right now.
I like the concept of Anastyr but the price tag is just too high. If there'd be the same game with tokens and/or meeples for a fraction of the cost, I'd probably get it.
I'm sceptical about Sleeping Gods holding its value. Wonder how many people are backing just to sell it afterwards. Combined with retail copies I expect the supply to greatly increase.
Thanks for the video! Nice as always :) I was really looking for the great wall reprint but the Canada shipping price is way to high to be worth it and I don't understand why it is the highest in the list :o This is not usual for us and really disappointing :/ I hope AR will adress and fix this before the end of the campain
The Great Wall should have been an easy back, but the shipping price to Canada is making me have second thoughts. And I'm not the only one, based on the comments I've seen in the campaign.
Alex, I belong to the kind of people that will try to persuade you to back assault on doomrock. The game has no miniatures. No board. It has much randomness even in the character progression. Because it has a ton of abilities and you only get three to choose from. It is challenging to the bone. But I love it very much. I selled my older copy to back this one. I anticipate the new version. I'm not sure if it is a game for you. You love miniatures and poppy things... It's not that. It has another kind of crazy charmness... ❤️❤️❤️
I have been very interested in the great wall for awhile now after I could not find the frist one but been looking at anastyr for I little bit an not sure the prices on both is alot so if I get one its only one an still want it to be one I play for a bit. So not sure
@@BoardGameCo New to the game, just curious if it holds its value. I'm backing now for the 24h reward but look forward to the coverage next week. Thanks for the quick reply.
The issue I have with Mythic is their rulebooks are typically terrible, almost every game needs an erratum, the updated content seems to have issues with the original printing (Joan of Arc cards weren't sized match, the tarot sized cards had terrible color darkening; Enchanters game Mythic printed didn't match the original, which they claimed it would during the campaign.) With that, they do have fantastic minis! If only the rules made sense... Looking at your Reichbusters! 😆

"Anastyr is doing just fine"? Hmmm, I really don't think so, look at the number of SGs unlocked so far. I think it's a big disappointment for Mythic Games, although they won't admit it. This was supposed to be a BIG game. But in it's heart it's really just a simple skirmish game with nice looking minis that is overly expensive for what it is.
A box that will fit all the Great Wall content would be nice. Absolutely sick of the multiple box approach from Awaken Realms. Also if they could use something like Game Trayz, that would be great. Their inserts are trash.
