How to Block Calls on an Android Smartphone

- Rest assured, there are ways to block those unwanted calls on Android devices. But finding the path to block calls can take some digging. Some manufactures bury black-list features deep in your phone settings. Even worse, some older devices may not even provide native blocking features.
Thankfully, there are several ways to block calls on your Android device. Here’s our guide to blocking phone calls (and text messages) on your Android phone. We’ll take a look at how to do it with your phone’s native features, and then we’ll suggest a couple of call blocking Android apps that are worth considering. Finally, we’ll provide information to block callers by contacting your phone carrier.
The methods for doing this will vary slightly according to your specific device and the version of Android that you are using. Many tutorials exist for your specific device on RUclips and the XDA developers forum.

If there blocked you wont see there number. Why cant people understand the difference between blocked and rejected. A reject call will go to voice mail. Or you wont hear it. That is not blocked.

None of these will work if you dont put voicemail on Do Not Disturb. There is no way to block calls with voicemail still on.
Luckily I figured this out and to only allow calls from my phone book to ring.
Now if robo callers try to call, my phone won't ring and it won't go to voicemail.
You have to do both to block calls.

Does not voice n text. I need block 4ever. But on verizon it blocks 90 days. You have to reblock.

This does not block calls. It simply blacklists their calls but they can still leave voice mail which is what I'm trying to keep my blocked people from doing.

It does matter because his suggestions won't work anyway. Call blocker doesnt work unless you put your phone on Do Not Disturb. You can set it to only recieve calls in your saved numbers list.

just block the actual numbers that are spam calling you, the 3 dots next to where their name would be if they were a saved contact. This is an old video, android has been updated.

There is a much simpler way to block unwanted calls. Go to settings, scroll to sounds, then scroll to Do not disturb. Click on that & you will see a button to turn on/off. Turn on. Below you will see allow exceptions. From there you can control what you will allow your phone to block any unwanted calls. If you are expecting a call from someone not on your list then temporarily turn it off. Otherwise they will leave a voicemail which you can check at your leisure. I have 2 Samsung phones & it works perfectly
That isn't a legitimate block. The calls still come. The phone just doesn't ring.
Default call block system is old in your video. Have any updated video about default call block on android.
I used to sims in my phone when I block someone then he blocked by sim 1 and can contact me by sim 2 how to block him from both sims

I did this the hard way around 2005 which I made a new copy of my vCard and from a Python script I wrote had it add every number from a website and even generated more that very much starts with a 7-digit pattern if local... or 4-digit pattern if long-distance, but... some of those calls always made my call answering service full. Free cruise trips... duct cleaning... pool cleaning... surveys that I do not get paid for... non-English bots...

I was hopeful for a solution to my unwanted calls issue with this video but unfortunately none of these tips seem to work for me with my pre paid verizon service and lg transpyre phone. In fact I have not found a solution anywhere. Even when they say go to the verizon website and block up to 5 calls I can't do it. Most of the features or options are simply not there as described and if they are they simply don't work.
It is a very good and simple to understand video so I hope it helps a lot of people.
The only thing that worked for me is a sort of fix and it doesn't really block calls but at least my phone doesn't ring. First I assign each unwanted number a caller ID of Z and a number (Z1, Z2 etc) This keeps all my unwanted numbers under the "Z" tab so they don't get in the way in my contacts list. Then I downloaded a ringtone app and selected a silent ringtone and assigned this ringtone to any number I don't want to answer. Like I said it doesn't block the calls but the phone won't ring. I have my phone on vibrate so it still does that when the call comes in and the number still shows up on my message bar as a missed call and in the recent calls log but its a small inconvenience.
I know carriers don't give pre paid customers the same level of service or the same perks and options as their contract plan customers in hopes that we switch to a ridiculously expensive plan but I am not going to give verizon any MORE money just so they give me the service they should be providing anyway.
1:25 I don't have that Reject list or Call Rejection option on my Acer with Android 6.0 phone. And all the apps in the store just simply redirect the calls to my voice mail. Yuk. I'm glad my other phone is a Lumia phone, blocking numbers is a breeze

I can't find call rejection or even call blaklist on my samsung galaxy V. I dont have that option on my call settings.
My phone worked a little different, Wave, but this was close enough for a dinosaur like me to fix it hehe thanks

I love this option; everytime I get mr. Robo; I go directly to block # Slowly but surley I'm getting less & less robo calls!!!
I use Verizon Smart Family which lets you block out 20 number at the network level, i.e. even if they block their outgoing caller id, the call will not still not ring through and they cannot text you either and you can't call or text them (you wouldn't want to anyway). You can also block email addresses, screen names, etc. I used this in two jobs to prevent co workers trying to get their shifts covered from reaching me. Stupidly, these jobs did not let you call the shift straight off without getting it covered. Of course, as the requestee of coverage you had no obligation to cover any shift, but you would be amazed at the stories people death-chained to a shift would make up. Personally, I don't want to hear it. More importantly, I just never wanted to do it, and in the 2 years I have used this, no call such as this has successfully reached my phone!

On Android, the place to add numbers to the reject list keeps changing, WTF! It's one of the most basic features every phone should have, and it's not hard to keep in one place.
