I went a different route with PS on my '65, but no matter which way you add power steering I think you'll find it's one of the best upogrades you can do. It makes the car infinitely more enjoyable to drive. When I built mine I wanted the "old school" experience. Manual brakes, cable clutch, manual steering. That plan lasted all of ten minutes. That's okay on the track but the first time you try to parallel park your manual steering V8 Mustang, you''l understand why it's such a good upgrade.
Great review and thanks for sharing! Always enjoy hearing the exhaust of your car. Glad you were able to find a break in the weather where you can get the car out for a drive and enjoy it!
Yeah, this weather has been weird, and I got super lucky with the clear day because it didn't last. The car has been locked up for a while now, and it wants out! :)
Love hearing you go through the gears. I have the standard power assist steering which is quite sloppy and tends to drift within the lane. Certainly looking at the style of PS you have fitted
I loved how the 347 put a big smile on your face must feel great after not being able to drive for a while I have the Borgeson fitted in my 67 Mustang 14-1 ratio also steers so well I've got the same Shelby type steering wheel as well.
Andy, thank you for driving impressions, I've got the Borgeson box, an Ididit tilt column, and the rag joint coupler. I haven't got the column mounted yet, so I'm hoping I picked the right length 😕!!!?? Mike Maier is great to work with, I did have to wait for subframe connectors, and also my Pan Hard kit. Though Mike is awesome 😎, always available to talk with you, especially if you've got install related questions... You can buy cheeper, and more readily available parts, though not better .. Keep at it brother 😉.....
Borgeson also has the quick 14:1 ratio not saying wich is better but mike definitely has the put in the seat time, im sure his boxes might be more fine tuned for feedback/response
I've been buying parts from Mike since 2004. I got an OG panhard bar setup, including this power steering kit. The KRC pump is definitely the way to go. Being able to change the pressure by swapping out the fittings is a nice addition to finely adjusting the feel. 👍
To clarify, you went from manual to Meier power steering? Did you have to change the linkage (Pitman and Idler) like you would have to with a conversion from stock manual to stock power steering (non-after market)?
I also took a different route, I went with the Borgeson which is also 14:1. But your video for the PS and the tilt steering have been a huge help. I also went with the universal joint, can you feel a vibration through the wheel? I should finish my install this weekend. Thank you
Wow the pony sounds GREAT!
Went a different route with my 67 mustang convertible, added EPAS and amazed at the responsiveness. 😊

You’re right, it is a huge upgrade!
my 67 is still manual steering... maybe someday I'll upgrade...
Great review - love the smile on your lip, when you drive, thats what its all about :)
Mike makes some GREAT STUFF for sure thanks for the video , Sweet mustang!!
Glad to see you got to wind out some gears!! I know how that grin feels.. It's all coming together. Kudos Andy!
Yeah, I got a short break in the weather, had to take advantage. :)

Yeah, got a small break in the very weird weather we have been having, just enough to get the car out. :)
Great vid AK
Thanks!

You should check the part number on your column, if you've got the same number as me, then yours will fit the same. :)

Yeah, in this scenario I'm trusting Mike that he has chosen this specific box because it provided him the specs he was after. :)

what alignment specs are you running after the power steering install. did you add more caster?
between 1 and 1.5 degrees of negative camber, 6 degrees of caster, about 0.35 degrees of toe.
Love the video Andy. I was waiting for the review. Curious, can you adjust the amount of ‘assist’ on the pump?
There are no adjustments on the unit itself, but I don't know what a different size pulley would do. :)
How is the wheel feedback and slop if any
Hey Andy, not power steering related but just curious on your fan and radiator set up. What brand and size did you end up going with?
I've got a video on the parts and install. :)
To clarify, you went from manual to Meier power steering? Did you have to change the linkage (Pitman and Idler) like you would have to with a conversion from stock manual to stock power steering (non-after market)?
Yes, that was all covered in the install video. :)
Looks like you were going straight down the road with little input!
It's those new FPA headers, must have added 100 more HP. :)

I didn't notice any new vibrations or harshness with using the universal joint.
