If we use Bernadette's pregnancy to measure the time between two episodes, it's roughly around 2-3 months. So it's consistent
Penny is a kind of person who enjoyed having someone who accompanied her to things she loved to do and be happy about it. That's why the bonding with Raj. But if you look at the whole series she does enjoy Leonard's company and wants to spend time alone with him. This wasn't possible firstly because of Sheldon and then Raj. And Raj being the sensitive guy he is, tends to overstep the emotional boundaries and kinda becomes the third wheel. He did the same with Howard and Bernadette. That's when people want him out.
Also anyone getting a house guest will enjoy their company for a little while after that it becomes monotonous and kinda intrusive into personal space.
So it was quite consistent with the story line and character arcs and also what we see happening in day to day life.
Penny's sympathy look is so cute at 2:15 😍
