I have just started watching your detailed videos too. What a great source of information.. and now all inspired to get back into photography again. Thank you.
Your videos popped up on my suggested. I’m glad they did. Recently purchased this camera and am loving it but I’m so new at everything. I’ve already learned quite a bit from you. Thank you! Florida has so many cool things to capture.
Thanks a lot, Felipe! Your explanations are very helpful!!! I just started using P950 few days ago, after years of using Nikon d3s and Sony cameras, and i have a feeling that P950 has so few flexibility in settings! And after watching your video, i see that all the inconvenient things about this camera can be fixed with updating the firmware and finding all that in the menu settings)))
on the one hand - an informative video..... on the other hand - (1) any ideas of a viewfinder cap when you are filming almost into the sun and (2) timestamps would help.....
Thank you very much for the list of filter products. Notes: 1. If the eye sensor's propensity for disabling the monitor to switch the subject feed to the electronic viewfinder (eyepiece, a.k.a. EVF) is too distracting, there's a Setup option to disable EVF auto toggle. This does not affect manual toggling between monitor and EVF with the "|[]|" (a.k.a. "monitor") button... 2. Even when the histogram is enabled in the monitor settings, it won't be displayed in some focus modes, and at some phases of some shooting modes. Search the full reference manual PDF for the word "histogram" to find all of the exceptions. I don't call it a problem, I call it one of those constraints it's best to be aware of so that one doesn't go crazy looking for the histogram that's suppressed in some modes despite the feature being enabled. 2b. Even if you hide the histogram during picture-taking mode, it will remain one of the features displayed when repeatedly hitting the [DISP] button during Playback mode (the mode of reviewing the photographs you have already stored on the SD card).
The EVF auto-toggle can be switched off, however, my gripe is not with the auto-toggle itself, but rather the algorithm used to execute the toggle. It could be much better.
It wasn't until I watched your video that I appreciated that the "eye detection" wasn't some complex pattern matching algorithm, but more of a shadow detecting (photocell?)
@@flat-earther Excellent catch. I had ignorantly assumed that it was a simple photocell sensor which detected ambient light being shaded by the photographer's face. However, I just took my P950 into my unlit basement rumpus room, and the EVF/monitor mode worked even with no ambient light whatsoever. Props to Nikon's engineers... BTW, the actual IR transmitter may actually be flashing at a radically different frequency from the blinking displayed in the video - the blink rate may be the difference between the transmitter's true frequency and the video camera's frame rate. (YoutUbe UK subway vlogger Jago Hazzard's videos frequently display such strobe effects when filming electronic station signboards and even overhead lighting).
Felipe - I purchased the Neewer 67mm filter kit with tulip lens hood (the kit you recommended in list above)). Have you heard any feedback on these? I can not get the tulip hood to tighten on my camera at all (both are 67mm - i have the Coolpix P950). I also can not get the filters to go on after i put on the lends hood - I thought you suggested its best to have a filter set that goes on after the lens hood so that you can change them easily. Am I missing something? Is there a lens hood with filters kit you recommend that DOES allow the lends hood to be on the camera and then you can change the filters?
Hi, I don't see a reference to a Tulip lens hood above, and the fitler kits are not Neewer, but I know my filters work with the lens hood that comes with the camera. Be careful when screwing in the solar filter though as they use a paperlike filter and you can easily tear it out if you don't hold the filter by the outer metal ring.
Hello Felipe, I enjoy watching your videos on the Nikon P950, thank you. I am on the verge of buying one in the next couple of days, I just wanted to ask you is it a good choice to make? I have watched many reviews on this camera, but not all sang it's praises very well. I trust you to be the deciding factor on whether I go ahead and buy it or not. I look forward to watching more of your videos in the future, thank you once again. Chris.
Hi Chris, in some of my videos I've pointed out some of the things that I thought Nikon dropped the ball on and could have done better in this camera. That being said, I bought it because it's the best bridge camera out there right now. If you're looking for something to replace your cellphone as your primary camera, then this is the camera for you. It does way more than your cell phone could ever do. If you need something a bit more advanced, perhaps to make money with, then you may want to step up to the Nikon Z50. Make sure you purchase the extended warranty: amzn.to/4c8kobp
I have the same issue with standard filters, everytime i switch the the camera off with those filters on - an error appears and the camera stops working untill i get out the battery. It makes me very sad, because i'm used to switching the camera off all the time, to save the battery live for more continuous shooting. And i always forget to unscrew the filter... That's why I ordered some new filters from Aliexpress, that are specially designed for p950. Gonna recieve them in few weeks, hope that will solve my problem)))
This series of videos is the best I’ve seen. Thanks very much from Australia 🇦🇺
I’m waiting for my p950 to arrive. It’s my first bridge camera. So I’ll be watching all your videos . Thanks so much.

You made a very nice, detailed presentation. I yust bought the Coolpix P950 and I'm glad with your instruction video. Thank you very much.

Very nice video, I like your way of explaining lay man terms 👌

My dear please let me know the basic setting for bird and wild photography
I am so glad I found you. I am new to this camera ... could you please do a video on how to set the fStop and shutter speed, thank you
This video touches a bit on that: ruclips.net/video/nZNbBgvIwqk/видео.htmlfeature=shared

@@AlanHMartin 0:25 in the video we can see that the eye sensor has a flashing red light. I think that means it is a Lidar sensor using infrared light.

If it's not the right filer it may be hitting against the lens housing and damaging the motors in the process.
