- Blinking is something that your body does naturally hundreds of times a day. But have you ever wondered why it's so important? Or what happens if you would stop blinking!?

Blink! Blink! Blink! Blink! In just milliseconds, we close our eyes, and then open them again! And we don’t even seem to miss a beat in our lives! It’s a pretty amazing, and speedy process. And we do this every single day, literally thousands of times a day. But have you ever stopped to think why we do this incredibly common activity? Or why we evolved the ability to blink in the first place, and when? Here’s the real kicker-- and you ever wondered what the consequences are to not blinking? Sure, your eyes would dry out, but did you ever consider that you could start to lose your vision? Or that your eyes would begin to swell and may even need corrective surgery? Well we got the scoop on all of it, Brainiacs. We are gonna talk about all the ins and outs of blinking. From how fast we blink, to how many times a day, to why we blink in the first place, to what are all the negative effects of not blinking. You may like to have staring contests with your friends, but after today’s video, we aren’t so sure you’re gonna want to just stare midlessless off into space without blinking. There can be some pretty serious, and pretty painful consequences. So! Make sure your eyes are nice and hydrated, and keep and eye (literally) on how often you are blinking.
