I expect Morland will have had a large increase in visitors to their website thanks to you. I hope they show their appreciation by offering you some free gifts, or maybe even paying you to do a video series especially for them, showing all the different ways to make best use of the products they offer. I'm sure they must see you as a godsend.
I did get a good discount in return for mentioning them in the videos. I also now have my videos on their website so bit of mutual networking all helps
I am about to strip out my less than perfect conversion of a Citroen Relay L3H2, and now cannot wait to get started! I find the simplicity of your explanations perfect for a person of my skill level and am sure I can make a much better attempt in my future layout. Thank you very much for the inspiration and confidence building. Even though I don't have all the equipment you use I am sure I can do everything much neater and be happier with my finish!
Such a clever bloke, I'm a tradesman my self and have been for the last 10 years, just goes to show how much you can learn from different trades. Thoroughly enjoy your videos mate and I will try and make it to the camp next year to have a look at this masterpiece. Looking forward to the next episode.
Look forward to meeting you. I have done a desk job for 30 years so I'm learning all the time. Always loved making things, from motorbikes to kit cars and now woodworking in the last 2 years Next I want to learn how to weld and get a lathe :D
Anders Tiger I get them the moment they are released so it really means nothing. In fact they have to give me a view to give me a thumbs down so I’m still earning from them 🤪😂
can you do a video on your gas and plumbing install as much details as possible please. your videos are a true craftsman at work and inspire me to push not only my van conversion skills up a level but also my woodworking skills up. thank you so much for putting in all the effort you have for your truly world class videos. inspired doesn't even cut it! pun intended.
I hope at some point you do an e book. Great ideas. I love you taking us through the math on insulation and solar system. I’m a geek and didn’t know it!
I would love a motorhome but now i dont think i would be happy with what i was originally thinking of you have spoiled me ..!! In truth i have learnt a lot from just watching your build so thanks for sharing i wont only use what i have learnt for a motorhome but for many other things too so i appreciate you taking the time to share ..
Thank you Stephen, there are many ways to skin a cat and I think its great that everyone can put there own stamp on a build, that's the beauty of self-building.
Hi Greg, I'm about to start our new Ducato XL conversion so your videos have been really been helpful especially all the insulation & electrical calcs earlier in the series & now really enjoying the finishing stages. I'll be employing many of your ideas in our build. Being a plumber, I noticed you had a normal water seal trap included in the kitchen sink kit. I'd recommend using 1.25" or 1.5" Hepworth (Hep) or Osma self sealing Traps on any appliance as it uses a self closing siliconised rubber seal rather than a traditional 50-75mm water seal which can easily be lost with the stationary angle of the van & of course the movement of driving allowing foul smells of the waste pipe & grey water tank to vent back into the van. These traps can be fitted with the manufacturer's right angled knuckle bend which connects to the appliance converting it to horizontal where space is tight. Hope my tuppence worth helps you & fellow subscribers. Keep up the good work Greg.
That's a valid point when driving around the water could come out of the bottle trap. Think I will consider changing it to a HepvO and locate it in the vertical at the back of the cupboard freeing up valuable cupboard space.
Glad I discovered your channel. Your explanations and attention to detail stand out. I watch quite a lot of wood working videos but very few seem to be on par with yours. Well done. Hopefully lots of sponsorship comes your way.
Hi Greg, couldn’t help notice your fridge opens to left which I did with mine in almost same design setup. Found I couldn’t get the ice box/shelves out, so reversed door to open to the right where it opens fully to remove tray etc. Not ideal but works fine. Also not sure you needed top shelf above in case of gas leaks. As you say gas is heavier than air so would drop out anyway. Still one of the best conversions I’ve seen on RUclips mate. Great tips for novice builders. 👍
I noticed exactly the same as you the ice box will not come out. But having to lean over the door every single day will get old real fast. It looks like the icebox door separates from the shelf so will try that way. Two screws and the whole fridge pulls right out for major cleaning jobs.
I watch a lot of RUclips videos and I like to see things being cut and drilled etc Rather than all the work being done off camera at least you can see me actually doing it 😊
Greg, I’ve met a chap who has coiled the copper pipe, behind the oven, with a 10 inch loop. This allows you to first connect the pipe to the oven, then push the oven unit back in for the permanent install.
I have a couple of really neat ideas for this. I modified one tap to include a momentary pushbutton to initiate a small 12v pump for drinking water. My main tap also has a couple of very cool tricks up its sleeve
Hi Greg. Just stopping by to say hi. I've been loving to watch your videos for the van conversion. I love your attention to details and your design process. Refreshing, especially when compared to some of the somewhat haphazard conversions that I have seen in other videos. Keep up the good work! Kudos for taking that big step and quitting work for a bit.
I posted before that I owed you beer for tips you have shared, make that multiple beers! Also its really nice to see you so relaxed now you've finished work - do hope you continue to have fun with the build and travels! #Van2??! (oh and I loved the blue grass back ground music!)
Such a well presented tutorial fantastic to watch and a great inspiration. Small world but I live on the side of a mountain that overlooks the Morlands factory which I never knew existed until you mentioned it on your video. I think in that episode you mentioned North Wales when in fact you were in Mid Wales 😉
Greg, Many thanks for all the ideas a technical input. Many of the process you followed are going into our in flight van build. Watching the cabinet video made us think you lined the walls with 1/2' plywood? Did you kerf the back to get it to bend? For your Q&A requests: Please detail the sub-wall technique you used. TIA!
Superb as always, love the level of detail you put into the van and the way you describe how everything is done... nice idea btw with the red/blue for hot/cold water...
it's made by John Guest, comes in loads of different colours, easy push fit fittings too www.johnguest.com/products/drinks-dispense-and-pure-water/lldpe-tubing/
tip from a joiner use a school compass set to any width in seconds to transfer pencil line from any shape to the piece you want to cut, have used this method for 30 years
Ha Ha, You can't beat em, sorry it's not going to be a vegan van. I wondered how many would notice and watch right to the end, kudos for sticking in there.
Youre so lucky, i have a drill and jigsaw to work with. Love the colors and think silver would look nice in there for paint for some bling. I have bamboo cutting board but it splinters too much
The white is just an undercoat / primer sealer. They had two coats of satin black after this video was shot All now clad with the Zebrano furniture board same as the rest of the van. The router is my favourite tool you can do some much with them
Greg Virgoe id be too scared to even buy a router...hahaha. i must keep saying your work is very nice. Thank you for sharing all of this with us. Some day ill do a video...super shy and not good with camera but i will.
I see a lot of people cut a small vent into the van behind where the fridge is going to be located to solve the air flow issue. They often tend to have their propane bottle (if hidden in a cupboard) within the same carcass so that the vent is dual purpose. Keep up the good work Greg (with all the detail), great finish in everything you've done and helped me loads.
Nice build as usual. Andn yes, the level of detail shown is encouraging. I particularly like the calmness and level of care you show. I'm a little surprised about the structure type. I'm doubtful that this type of structure will manage the mass at 20G which is what I believe the structural benchmark is for this stuff.
The carcasses already are very strong, they are all screwed together and secured to the walls and floor. The end and side are over clad with 15mm furniture board, and it's all screwed to a solid wood countertop. Have you got further details for that standard you refer to?
@@GregVirgoe I haven't found a formal code but saw a reference about 20G being a norm. It's not a crazy figure on that in my mind. I struggle to accept that a wood frame would be able to withstand those loads. It seems the RV industry is largely unregulated so I believe it may be commercial fitout companies that are required to adhere to such a code. Lots of test vids on RUclips though and RV crash tests. Mostly in Germany and wood fitout doesn't seem to crash not. Did you see what I did there? ;-)
The countertop board is what used to be called 'Laminboard' I think, but a recent search I could not find any, another similar board was called 'Blockboard'.
Top job Greg, starting to get used to it now! ;) You never looked at building a box fridge with a fridge? Seen it been used in a lot of sailing boats. Very energy efficient and can be reached if you hinge a part of the worktop.
I did look at them as they do tend to be cheaper, for me personally I find having to dig around for stuff at the bottom is not very practical, despite its very good energy ratings.
Check out a set of pots and pans by tefal called ingenio. They have flat lids and removable handles we can get the whole set in one drawer in our kitchen. having little storage space they’ve been brilliant.
Another great video - but the thing you didn't mention was how you constructed the back of the sink unit over your step. The van frame has a horrible curvy 3D lump and I'm trying to visualise how best to deal with this.
Hi Greg - another Masterclass!! At 11:50 you have some cables emerging from the bottom of the wall - looks like 2 Arctic Blue and a grey one? Do you mind if I ask what these are for? I thought the fridge and cooker were 12v (black) cable? Thanks once again! W
Another awesome video, cheers!. Will you do a video going over the maintenance of the van, making sure the cooling system (hoses, water pump etc) are up to the task, and any other preventative measures you took before you set off?
What a great idea, we have a spreadsheet of all the things you have to carry in your van to be legal in each country. Did you know you need spare glasses, breathalysers, spare bulbs, as well as the normal Hi Vis and triangles and first aid kit
Those extra legal things i would have overlooked for sure lol. The detail you put into your van is amazing. I'm a mechanic, and thats the sort of attention i'd give my running gear for such a long trip. Also giving a good week of driving locally as a shakedown test (even new parts can fail prematurely).
Hi Greg hope you are well. I am aware you fitted your Thetford oven a while ago but was wondering if you fitted battens into the recess as per your sketch up model or If you fitted the oven directly to the recess walls made by the adjacent entrance units. I am just about to build my kitchen units and I think fitting directly to recess units gives a better finish with adjacent unit doors. Thanks David
Hiya Greg I’m fitting the same shower and toilet cassette as you could you please tell me how much clearance you need between the shower and the kitchen to remove the cassette please Cheers Stuart
There is a video on my channel about that. However the rules have changed and it is now very difficult to get your self build camper changed to motor caravan. Take a look at my video but be aware there are many more requirements now.
Hiya Greg. Just thought I'd say that our van build would look nothing like it does without your videos. I can't tell you how grateful we are! Quick question regarding the fixing of your kitchen units - how are they attached to the floor? Was thinking of using the adjustable legs used in household kitchens otherwise.
Jack Luker the caresses sir on the floor. So I took a short section of 2x2 timber. Screwed that’s to the floor then screwed the unit to it. The fridge unit is also screwed to the centre partition. They are all screwed to each other and all screwed to the wall and to the worktop. It does make a very strong set of cupboards when done.
Hi Greg, I'm about to do the same work for my kitchen with e thetford oven\cooker.. I was just wondering, how deep are you pannels to match flash with the oven on the sides?? I'm struggling to have topside and front side flush with the cooker
Hey Hreg another great video, any chance you could post your diagrams for building the kitchen, I’m looking at a similar oven to yours but don’t have the room to buy it and then build cabinets to fit, I have to to build first, being able to purchase oven and put it straight in would be a great help. Thanks.
Hi Greg thanks once again for the excellent video content you make it so easy. I have enjoyed all your channel content and have learnt alot. My wood working skills is improving and my tool collection is growing ( the bug has got me!) I am interested in getting an Air brad nailer & compressor could you let me know what you are using and any thoughts on this subjet please. In the meantime all the best to you and cant wait for the completed build "camper tour video".
These videos are AMAZING! It's my dream to do a van conversion one day...and I'm 61 y/o and a single female. Your plans and the explanations are VERY helpful. Thanks so much! Is there a video of a walk-thru of your van?(I'm not sure if it's completed yet).
Thank you Valerie and I’m pleased you are finding them to be useful. The final VAN TOUR video has not been uploaded yet. There are a few build videos left to release first. Thanks for watching.
Hi Greg, great videos!!!! Now that you've had things done for a while have you any afterthoughts about how things went? I'm particularly interested in what you think about the kitchen base units. I can't see how you finished off the front edges of the units, I'm assuming they are bare plywood (or did you do something else to finish those edges?). Maybe that all the doors and drawers cover all the front edges? I'm just going to get going with mine and was thinking of the possibility of applying maybe an iron on edging to conceal the ply, do you think it would stick, what do you think? Cheers!
Hello Martin, the kitchen units are working out very well and very secure and sturdy. I did paint the carcasses with primer and two top coats of satin black. All of the front edges are covered by doors or drawers front apart from two edges around the fridge. But as the fridge is black and so are the cupboards you don’t even see it and your eye is not drawn to anything. I would have liked thicker than 12mm carcasses but you have to think about weight. I have since fitted magnets to the door and pan drawer only to keep these closed when driving. But that it the only modification. Watch my later video on fitting the cooker too
Hey Greg, great videos! we're at the start of our build and find your videos and tips very useful. I'm interested what sort of weights for all these cabinets and total overall for your van. Any video/s where you cover weights and tips for working within 3.5 ton? I have a LWB sprinter with about 1.2 to play with.
Hi it's me again do you have all the exact sizes for you kitchen units to save me doing the brain work bit of a cheack ,I know mine is a citren relay but I have the same cooker as your and will have to get a fridge later hope you can help, if not thank you as always for all you help ever in Skegness pop in Cheers😀
As usual Greg a great detailed video. Can I just go back a way and ask a question about the side Windows. If I remember without going back to the video I think you chose fixed side Windows instead of opening ones. Apart from cost was there any other reason ie chance of leaks or security etc. Thanks Dave
Hi Greg how is easy it to connect up the oven once the units are in place. I am building up my kitchen now and will have someone install an underfloor tank and hook up my services. Just wondering if I can fix my units in already?
I generally don't leave any comments. But this man absolutely deserves the praise. One of the best explanation on van build.
I expect Morland will have had a large increase in visitors to their website thanks to you. I hope they show their appreciation by offering you some free gifts, or maybe even paying you to do a video series especially for them, showing all the different ways to make best use of the products they offer. Many thanks

Look forward to meeting you. I have done a desk job for 30 years so I'm learning all the time.
Always loved making things, from motorbikes to kit cars and now woodworking in the last 2 years
Next I want to learn how to weld and get a lathe :D
Greg Virgoe wow I thought you were a builder a carpenter to be exact.
Best description of cabinet building on youtube I've seen yet! Thank you very much!
How can anyone give this guy or any of the episodes a thumbs down? What you do here Greg is absolutely brilliant!
Anders Tiger I get them the moment they are released so it really means nothing.
In fact they have to give me a view to give me a thumbs down so I’m still earning from them 🤪😂
Such meticulous & planned out approach. Superb!
Thank you
just one word young man OUTSTANDING
I like the young bit lol cheers
can you do a video on your gas and plumbing install as much details as possible please. your videos are a true craftsman at work and inspire me to push not only my van conversion skills up a level but also my woodworking skills up. thank you so much for putting in all the effort you have for your truly world class videos. inspired doesn't even cut it! pun intended.
Yes, I have very detailed videos on both gas and water to be out very soon.
Thanks for the great feedback
Enjoyed your podcast Greg. Sounded like a good host too. She was clearly spoken and informative. I've subscribed.
*Link is in the video description.
Thanks for listening to that, nice to know that it is getting airtime.
** Should I be saying or doing something different there with the links? **
Greg Virgoe - Link in the description worked fine for me. Was just reminding others where to find the podcast.
I hope at some point you do an e book. Great ideas. I love you taking us through the math on insulation and solar system. I’m a geek and didn’t know it!
That is one thing I plan to put together while we are travelling when I have more time to compile the information.
Thanks for the great video, Greg. We are watching you from Russia.
Thank you, amazing that my videos are reaching all corners of the globe :D
Just the inspiration I needed for the weekend, My kitchen all planned so lets get making. Thanks again.
Good luck 👍
For sure Greg makes it look so easy !!!!!
Roger Wilson - He does but l am sure you'll do your best👍
Always know its going to be a good day when I get to see a new video from Greg
That's really kind of you thanks
I would love a motorhome but now i dont think i would be happy with what i was originally thinking of you have spoiled me ..!! In truth i have learnt a lot from just watching your build so thanks for sharing i wont only use what i have learnt for a motorhome but for many other things too so i appreciate you taking the time to share ..
Thank you Stephen, there are many ways to skin a cat and I think its great that everyone can put there own stamp on a build, that's the beauty of self-building.
Your explanation and quality of work is expert level. Love to watch your videos from Miami Florida USA. Keep up the good work.
Hi Jason, I’ve never been to Miami, is it as beautiful as it looks in the pictures?
Greg Virgoe Yes it is. Sand and sun. Warm all year.
Hi Greg LOVE you videos and all the tips you give that others don't. GREAT work mate from down under Andrew
I really appreciate all the videos that are very useful to me since I am starting the refitting of a Citroen jumper.
Very nice work and good luck.
Rene Hagenam thank you for such great feedback and good luck with your build 😃
Think I will consider changing it to a HepvO and locate it in the vertical at the back of the cupboard freeing up valuable cupboard space.

Well done. Hopefully lots of sponsorship comes your way.
That's very nice of you, fingers crossed hey lol
Yet again superb quality and content. Thanks for posting the links to tools etc.
Pleased it is useful to you
Beautiful work again Greg.
Looking forward to what's next as you close in on completing the build.
Thanks again John,
It comes together really quickly in the end.
The furniture has been the most fun so far because it makes the biggest impact
Another excellent video Greg, as always.
Thanks again

Again, exceptional! Top quality design and construction. You rock!!
Thank you Jan, much appreciated

Hi greg your RUclips channel is great I am doing my 2016 crafter watch your videos loads
Thanks for another great video! I'm learning a lot about what I'm going to change for my second build.
What van have you currently got and how do you use it?
Greg Virgoe I have a 2001 Ford E150 Cargo that I have been living out of full time for a just over a year now
Tristan, amazing I bet you have loads of useful things you could share on your experiences
Thanks for a great video, we’ve just ordered our van so I’ll be watching them all for help and advice. Thanks again.
Another great video Greg and wonderful that Moreland have recognised your skills to include your videos on their site.
Yes, I was really pleased with the amount of exposure on their new website. Very flattering
I can't wait for the big reveal and the full van tour. Great work, Greg
Thanks Paul :D
I always enjoy the quality and content of your videos.
Thanks once again Cliff
Nice work fella, I do like your videos. Nice mix of method and details....
I watch a lot of RUclips videos and I like to see things being cut and drilled etc
Rather than all the work being done off camera at least you can see me actually doing it 😊
Hi Greg, keep up the videos, they are really good. I really enjoy watching them.
No problem , plenty more in the editing suite :D
Literally best conversion videos on here! definitely gonna be using some of your tips, keep it up!!
That is coming along beautifully!
much appreciated
Fantastic!
You are the master of the wood!
I'm still learning myself too
I did make a couple of schoolboy errors but they end up on the cutting room floor :D
Error is normal! Your project is Fantastic! Congratulations!
Nice work again Greg, the end reminds me of Wayne's World 2 and product placement ha ha ha.
I've not seen that film, put them there so not so in your face.
Greg, I’ve met a chap who has coiled the copper pipe, behind the oven, with a 10 inch loop. This allows you to first connect the pipe to the oven, then push the oven unit back in for the permanent install.
Dude Leboski yeah I have heard that too. It’s a pretty bad design flaw I think.
Thanks again. Just rewatching as I start my own conversion. Has answered many questions. 👍
kevgermany pleased it’s still helping you with your build.
Looking forward to your faucet selection.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment
Glad you are enjoying the build so far
Great workmanship as always, can't wait to see the next installment,👏 👏
Really appreciated Michael
I posted before that I owed you beer for tips you have shared, make that multiple beers!
Also its really nice to see you so relaxed now you've finished work - do hope you continue to have fun with the build and travels! #Van2??!
(oh and I loved the blue grass back ground music!)
Excellent video as always thank you so much for all your videos they are so helpful. Thanks again.
Greg, great videos, really understandable, thanks very much. You must be a scientist!
Thank you Aleksey, I’m a mechanical services design engineer by trade 😊
it's coming along nicely, really liked the detailed video's. big thumbs up.
Yeah the furniture is making the biggest impact on how it now looks
thank you Greg from quebec canada very good tips
Such a well presented tutorial fantastic to watch and a great inspiration. Small world but I live on the side of a mountain that overlooks the Morlands factory which I never knew existed until you mentioned it on your video. I think in that episode you mentioned North Wales when in fact you were in Mid Wales 😉
I was amazed at how big they are, they seem to own every unit on that industrial estate?
Lovely work. Learning lots. Thanks again!
Thanks for the continued support
Excellent Greg, thank you for sharing your knowledge. Keep em coming!!! 😎
There's still a few more build videos to be released :D
Greg, Many thanks for all the ideas a technical input. Many of the process you followed are going into our in flight van build. Ply lining video out of archives and up tomorrow afternoon 3pm GMT
Moreland should give you a little something for you driving people to the website. Apparently they know quality when they see it 😁
Thank you very much for your kindness Mi
Ha, we're getting bamboo, too. It's sustainable, light and tough. Perfect!
Superb as always, love the level of detail you put into the van and the way you describe how everything is done... nice idea btw with the red/blue for hot/cold water...

Thanks for another good and informative video with lots of helpful tips the details that other do not show like the scribe tool you made
It was those details that were missing when I did my research initially.
You can't learn much from a time-lapse at 500mph! Thank you
Styling. Very Comfortable & Impressive‼️👍👍 Vinny 🇺🇸
Another excellent video Greg! Thank you!!
You are welcome Don
, excellent as always, I was getting set to pose the question when were to see the kitchen.
Its like I can read your mind :D
tip from a joiner use a school compass set to any width in seconds to transfer pencil line from any shape to the piece you want to cut, have used this method for 30 years
That is a fantastic tip David, nice one!
Just need one that doesn't close up on you like mine always does :D
A page inspiration with your vids in it.... Makes really sense to me :)
It’s coming along brilliantly Greg, well done my friend..👍🏼..just love the bacon butty ready for me, I’ll be along very soon mate 😉😋😊
Ha Ha, You can't beat em, sorry it's not going to be a vegan van.
I wondered how many would notice and watch right to the end, kudos for sticking in there.
Greg Virgoe I’ve got the sauce all ready my friend...a cup of Yorkshire or PG tips tea??, I’ll bring the mugs and milk ☕️🥛👍🏼😊
wow its realy coming along now Greg. good idea for a fire door :))
Fire door?? LOL funny

Thank you
Can you do a walk threw of what you have done so far to show the progress as of now and what is left to do
Nice build as usual.
Sorry to disappoint Colin, but it’s a bit more exotic than that.
It’s made up of Bamboo. You can see the distinct knuckle joints on the surface 👍🏼
Great space saving idea they look fab, thanks
Another great video - but the thing you didn't mention was how you constructed the back of the sink unit over your step. The van frame has a horrible curvy 3D lump and I'm trying to visualise how best to deal with this.
Well done once again Greg and thanks
my pleasure William
Hi Greg - another Masterclass!! At 11:50 you have some cables emerging from the bottom of the wall - looks like 2 Arctic Blue and a grey one? Do you mind if I ask what these are for? I thought the fridge and cooker were 12v (black) cable? Thanks once again!
W
Great units Greg, loving the videos. Really fancy a brad nailer ! :)
Hiya Greg I’m fitting the same shower and toilet cassette as you could you please tell me how much clearance you need between the shower and the kitchen to remove the cassette please
Cheers Stuart
Hi can you do video on how change paper work on van into motohome keep blog going.
There is a video on my channel about that. However the rules have changed and it is now very difficult to get your self build camper changed to motor caravan. Take a look at my video but be aware there are many more requirements now.
What a brilliant cabinet-making lesson (and a language one as well ;-) BTW is that counter top bamboo perhaps?
Thank you and yes you are spot on!
Pure excellence as usual.
Cheers Jerry
Simply the best!!!!
Many thanks
Hi Greg, I'm about to do the same work for my kitchen with e thetford oven\cooker.. I was just wondering, how deep are you pannels to match flash with the oven on the sides?? I'm struggling to have topside and front side flush with the cooker
Hey Hreg another great video, any chance you could post your diagrams for building the kitchen, I’m looking at a similar oven to yours but don’t have the room to buy it and then build cabinets to fit, I have to to build first, being able to purchase oven and put it straight in would be a great help. Thanks.
Complimenti , THE BEST!!!!! TONY FROM ITALY👍👍📐📏🔧🚙
Thank you Tony :D
Hey Greg, great video, what is the measurement from your bed to the end of the kitchen, many thanks
Watch my later video on fitting the cooker too
Ooh! Is your worktop Bamboo mate? Loving your work as always!
Spot on Paulo, nice one
QUESTION: Hi Greg, Why did you use normal play instead of the lightweight ply used on the rest of the build?
It was a lot cheaper 😃
Thanks
Dave
No problem Dave, it was purely for security.
Greg Virgoe Thanks Greg,
I was thinking about the security side of it so you have helped me decide on the fixed window option.
Hi Greg how is easy it to connect up the oven once the units are in place. I am building up my kitchen now and will have someone install an underfloor tank and hook up my services. Just wondering if I can fix my units in already?
