    The surf has been an issue more about the intervals, than the height. It's still so much easier to launch with an outboard than any on the Kayaks I've owned. Coming in is the easiest of all (NO SO ON A KAYAK), I don't even wait out the sets. I just pick a wave and just stay behind it and make sure to slow down as it's slowing down. Tight Lines, Josh!

      On the bright side, it looks like we’re gonna have some good weather these next few days, but surf is still showing 3 to 4 feet… we will see! Maybe I’ll sneak out to La Jolla next week

    The guy with the blue scout had paddles I noticed. I'm wondering why not paddle past the shore break then start the motor?

    • @adventureswithosidekayakguy
      @adventureswithosidekayakguy  2 года назад +1

      You certainly could… But you have way more power with the motor. Why walk to a destination when you can drive? Sure you can certainly paddle, but you’ll get out a lot slower after being constantly hit by the waves.

    How does your boat ride with the 8hp Yamaha.. I'd like to try a 9.9 Mercury, same weight of 85 pounds over the recommended 6 hp.

      So because the 8 puts more torque on the transom, I reinforced it with aluminum plates. Going with the swell I cruise about 22 miles an hour, on a normal day with chop I Cruise anywhere from 15 to 18 mph depending on how much weight I bring with me. Like if I’m by myself, I go on average 17/18, if I bring an extra person (180-260lbs) I go around 13/16mph.

    How do you transport the boat from car through the sand to the beach?

    • @adventureswithosidekayakguy
      @adventureswithosidekayakguy  2 года назад +1

      La Jolla, you’re able to drive your vehicle onto the beach, so I just offload the boat from the car pump everything up and then just drag it to the water which is only a couple feet away. However other spots like street parking that don’t allow beach access with vehicles, I have a little dolly for the Scout.

      @@adventureswithosidekayakguy I have a 13’ Saturn that I take out here locally in the LA Harbor. 5hp Tohatsu does the job. Would love to head down south for some fishing. Always better with a buddy!! Appreciate your content brotha 🤙🏽

    I like these a lot, but do you have any preference for a scout over a similar sized little inflatable boat

    • @adventureswithosidekayakguy
      @adventureswithosidekayakguy  2 года назад +3

      Certainly. I actually made a comparison video, not between the scout boats but between a scout and a kayak, but I mention a whole bunch of details and reasons why I prefer one over the other. - i’ve checked out a BRIS and a sea eagle in person, both of those have bigger pontoons and they’re a little wider. I have not tested them out on the water, but I don’t see any reason why they wouldn’t perform just as well as the Scout. I do want to test out speed on the water, I feel because The sea eagle and brisk is wider it might have a lot more grab on the water rather than the scout so It might slow you down, but I do not know the answer to that as I have not tested it. m.ruclips.net/video/Cb73X4LIVto/видео.html
