Two hott guy's
You two guys are cute
When I grow up, I inspire to be this guy! Tall, skinny, good looking! I mean the kids got it all! Looks and he can fish. Man! What a lucky guy! Like hey. . . Save some for the rest of us.
No wetsuit, no PFD??? Geeezus! This is a bad example for folks going into the big blue.
Is it more fun, better going out with the outbord motor ?
For short two hour sessions I usually don’t bring out my motor, for longer sessions like five and above I will. It’s kind of a laziness factor. Can I paddle? Yes, but if there’s an option to free up my hands to do other things I would like to take that route instead, so that’s the reason for the jet.
Click bait
So it worked😂
Waders, no pfd or descending device. You can’t just let those fish go you’re supposed to help them get back to the bottom. Don’t be like this guy.
Just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean it’s not there. I don’t think rockfish need help getting back down to 40 feet when they swim off perfectly fine. what’s bad about waders?
There are also strippers in there they’re pretty good size about 2-3 lb avg.
We have lost many fisherman who don't know what they are doing out on the water. Learn to be a kayaker first. Waders, cotton and no pfd. Just tired of people sending me gofundme links for things that should be common sense by now
Nice vieeo , but definetly no waders , just get wet
+1 TMS on the yak and no PFD @ SWS... SMH....
How much is all the gear you list on your page worth? But you don't buy a wet suit or a lifejacket? BEWARE viewers, this is extremely dangerous behavior your watching
With cameras, proportion system, and batteries around $1600 with the proportion system being the most expensive. My lifejacket is on board inside the kayak. A wetsuit… I don’t wear a wetsuit unless I’m kayak surfing or free diving. I would be roasting to death wearing a wetsuit for every kayak excursion.
You set a terrible example for kayak fishing by wearing waders, no lifejacket, and a big sweater out in the Pacific ocean.
Waiters to keep the fish slime off of me a sweater to keep me warm. Lifejacket is in the kayak, not physically on me but yes, you make a good point. I’m just confused about the waiters and sweatshirt part? Someone told me I should be in a full wetsuit on a previous post and I’m confused about that as well. I don’t wear wetsuits unless kayak surfing or free diving. I feel like that would be, a horrible mix for heat exhaustion to be wearing a wetsuit an entire eight hours while not being in the water.
If you fall in the water with your waiters on it'll cause you to drown unless you're wearing a tight belt on your waist. I personally wear a 3mm half wetsuit and a PFD when I'm kayak fishing in the ocean. Stay safe brother! Glad you had a great time out 🙏🏻
@@adventureswithosidekayakguy Try this the next time you are out there, flip over your kayak in open water, wearing your waders, no life jacket, and that sweater. You will find out what choices you made that could cost you your life.
Honestly, that’s a great idea. I will try that next outing. I think I’ll do a chest mount GoPro and then have a GoPro attached to the kayak facing me so you can have like a POV and third person view.
The fishing looks amazing where you’re at in Monterey . I’m about four hours away. . I hope to get up there in my kayak sometime. . Looks like a short paddle too. You don’t have to paddle that far out.. 🤙🏼🎣
Good luck!
Refreshing to see some catch and release. 🤙🤙 rad session
You are absolutely right! Catch to eat is cool, but when it’s done respectfully.
Love seeing the light spinning rod doubled over
If there’s a will, there’s a way! A lot of people dislike spinners. I think they’re great and it’s always a blast when you’re the only one catching fish.😂
Nice cabs! I only spearfish at Stillwater. I just picked up a trailer for my yak, where did you guys park the trailer while you were out?
Same place, you saw us pull sideways is where we parked, we just detached the trailer and put it behind the trees and then backed in the truck. It wasn’t until we got back that we were told by employees that next time we had to park around where there’s more parking.
@@adventureswithosidekayakguy Thanks! I was thinking I can push it up against the trees near the hedge parking and drop the tongue down and just back up over it
That’s cool what’s a good starter kit to do this?
In regards to diving, I would suggest a wetsuit. You can usually find those used at surf ride or Facebook marketplace. You’ll also need some fins, a mask, and a snorkel. In regards to film gear, I started with a hero 4 GoPro and a waterproof case with a pole zip tied to a golf club that I cut the head off haha. sometimes you gotta make do with what you have lying around. Recently, I’ve been using a telescopic pole with a hero eight GoPro. But in this video, I used the Insta360 with a dive case.
@@adventureswithosidekayakguy awesome yeah I would love to try this looks so fun thank you
Damn love the video brother 😊 great fishing adventure 🤙
Is it hard to row through the kelp? Does it ever get caught on the small skegs?
If you’re trying to paddle backwards, yes the small Skeggs will get caught on the kelp, if you’re going forward, it’s pretty easy. I will say it does act as a giant suction cup on the water so it doesn’t glide across the kelp like akayak would. You definitely have to put some muscle into your rowing.
That was a sargo I believe
Sick!
Nice one bro, how far out are yoh
15 miles from La Jolla Shores. The upper 9 mile bank.
Soo dope!!!
I see my hometown and I hit click🤙
Dope edit 🔥
Nice video! I also want to have an inflatable, do you need to register it or take it as kayak? Where can you launch the boat? In La Jolla shores I only see kayaks with no motors. Thanks
Hey there! yes, unfortunately if you want to put an outboard on a boat you do need to register it. I got mine registered at AAA. I forgot how much the original price was but every 2 years I pay $30 to renew it. Here is a Google map link to La Jolla Shores boat launch. maps.app.goo.gl/ZTLJkMw1TSS3Cieq6 This next link is from the city of San Diego, if you scroll down you will see where it mentions vessels being allowed to be launched la jolla shores. www.sandiego.gov/lifeguards/safety/bchreg#:~:text=regulations%20are%20enforced.-,Boat%20Launch,Showers
I worked out there for 7 years , that heat in the summer is unbearable don’t forget to bring water next time you go out my boss got stuck out there once
Goat man
The video editing was excellent in this episode. Great transitions and scenery! Music was great too. Really enjoyed this episode. You should consider making a series out of this environment!
Thank you for the feedback! I really appreciate it! I spent a little more time putting this project together and I'm very pleased with the end result! I was thinking about making it a series, I just don't go out there often enough. I've already been out twice this year, I think for the third outing I'd like to try hitting the All-American canal and trying for those bigger catfish that people speak of. I'm just a little bummed that most the fishing will probably be at night due to the Heat and it'll suck for video because obviously it's dark haha. Soooo I might do a half and half like I did in this video, arrive to my spot early to fish during the afternoon and then into the dark and then morning again along with a fun story. -I also used a different song licensing program that allows me to share song permissions with certain artists. and I feel this different music definitely set the tone a little better compared to my normal dubstep / Lo-Fi song Choices.
I have fished out there a LONG time.. Damn I love the valley, you need to get your shrimp from Zion market, they are a lot nicer than whatever you got there...
We found that worms worked best and didn’t get our hands super stinky. If I do another trip back out, might use shrimp for the bigger canal. But for all the little stuff we hit, worms worked great.
Wow never knew you can fish those canals. My mo lives in calexico need to go visit her now 😂🎣
national geographics! lol awesome vids!
Thanks! I have a few clips floating around on some stock sites that have sold once or twice. I’ve always been curious if I’d ever see them on a National Geographic documentary.
@@adventureswithosidekayakguy I’d put my money on it! I’m here from el centro vids! I’ve been going out to the Alamo for flatheads and striking out! You small water fishing on light gear seems a lot more fun and action packed lol Bon voyage!
Awesome video!
Great video Josh, memories for life buddy. We send it again soon!!
I love how gentle they are with it despite it being rip ): .
Is this an old video? Due to the rarity I would think this would be newsworthy. There is nothing in the news. They did find one back in 2015 at La Jolla Shores.
This was filmed by me on Saturday
Thanks for the confirmation! Nowadays you don't know what to believe. Super cool vid!
No deverian estar tan alegres porque cuando sale ese pez vienen tsunamis
Why plan on eating it
Is this San Diego?
Yes, La Jolla
@@adventureswithosidekayakguy WOW!!!!!! thanks they just found one in Ecuador also.
2 - 7-foot fillets!
Ooo doom day fish
Love fishing out there... I find shrimp a more convenient bait (and cheaper per use) than crawlers...
Do you get cooked shrimp? Or raw shrimp? Do you ever use those Walmart popcorn shrimp? Or do you go to like an Asian market and get the real deal stuff?
@@adventureswithosidekayakguy the asian/mexican market shrimp are the way to go, whole, uncooked, uncleaned, head on shrimp (heads for huge carp, cats like em too), I buy the 4 lb block from Zion market here in SD and break a few off the block when I need some bait... very cheap per use
Great vid guys love it out there I’m out here now new sub here
Have you fished the all American canal? Or are you just popping around?
Good vid! You guys did a great job making the effort to keep a baited hook in the water and it paid off as it often times does here in the IV with a lot of catches. Noted at the end you were at the East Highline where it comes off the AA. There are stripers and large & small mouth there. Looks like you had a lure tied on there but no footage of any catches. Next time try assortments of lures along with plastic worms & swim baits and you’ll land bass there.
Rats! Maybe we’ll have luck next time. It looks so promising. Super Clearwater nice and cold. We did see some giant carp, but they were uninterested in what we had to offer. Anything specific you’d recommend throwing for striper? Is there something that always works for you?
@@adventureswithosidekayakguy Stripers are super aggressive and will hit almost anything when they’re hungry and they’ll fight like hell! Simply, as needed, start throwing swim baits, jerk baits, crank baits, plastic worms texas & wacky weightless (wacky drop-shot too) I’ve even hooked them while using nightcrawlers for Cats. Good luck!
I’m jealous. I haven’t caught a worthy fish all summer.
Right on fellas awesome fishing 🎣. the IV has about 1700 miles of canals. Great to see yall had a great time👍🏽. Tight Lines.
Great vid you guys! Tons of fun. I fish the valley a lot. If you want to go for more large & small mouth and striper bass, go to the AA Canal & the 3 other main canals with your bass tackle.
I live in El Centro, mostly fish Sunbeam Lake but it's really mis managed invasive vegetation around the bank gives limited access to most of the lake, but we work with what we're given.🤙🦾 Thanks for visiting.
🪦 💀
if you fish those bigger canals use some bluegills as cut bait
What lb test would you recommend? And what would the set up be? Like a Carolina rig? Or dropper loop
Use 30-60 lb braid to a Santee rig with live bluegills you'll get some flat cats for sure.
