Thank you for sharing the tuning and fantastic idea putting the camera on your talharpa. I prefer playing Vindavla in AEA. You play very well, great job.
I like the idea of using modern materials for the strings, was thinking about making one of these without horse hair strings (viola/cello?) and maybe modern tuners. Traditional ways are nice but having the thing easy to tune and stay in tune is more important to me. Being a decent musician helps, well done and thanks for sharing.
Beautiful playing. I've just picked mine up. Can I ask, are they bits of tape to let you know where the different notes are ? Can I have some advice to make mine sound less like a dying cat please. Anything hints or tips would be amazing ! Thanks, keep uploading your awesome 🤘🏻
I found the pitches on mine from using a guitar to play a melody first. I also use a melodica sometimes, and they don't go out of tune per se. The positions are relative9in distance) to your string length. It helps to play another instrument first. Outside of that, I would think some other keyed or fretted instrument (fixed pitches) would help train the ear to recognize the pitches. I notice some people playing this instrument without understanding basic whole and half tone intervals. I get the sense they are watching their finger positions 'more' than listening for particular notes. Without that, things can be interesting, but not necessarily musical in any conventional sense. This video makes excellent use of perspective for this style of playing. I never thought of paint on the strings. I was skeptical at first (and didn't notice it), but the evidence sounds very good!
I think it was about 35 on melody string, 45 on the bass and 25 on the highest one. 0.20 monofilament fishing line on the first one. On the second one I've used dacron B55 - 4 strands for high string, 6 for middle string and 7 for drone. +/- it was some time ago and I experiment with that alot.
this is so beautiful - - i have had such a hard time with stringing mine- i bought some Dacron 55 (archery string) and i couldn't cut it !!!! how do you cut it in order to make your three woven strings. - i gave up after 3 tries of different things - i have horse hair , but i'm new to this. I just finished building it - altered the bridge a couple of times - now i've put 3 guitar strings on - it actually sounds good - but i have one string that sounds dead and i don't know if it's the string or something else - (the peg, bridge, saddle what ) - i would welcome advice
I cut dacron strings with scissors (every single strand), why do you have problem with that? After that you pick right amount of strands and you twist them into a string.
How many strands of nylon did you used for each string? How thick they were? I'm making my own tagelharpa and your sound is very similiar to Einar Selvik instrument :D
Which string is in the direction to your Body? Cause I am Lefthanded. I dont know if I had to put the thinest string first or the thickest. Maybe you could help me out. By the way stunning playing and Melody. Love Vindavla so much. It's so hypnotic.
@@Bullski123 Yes they have some sort of wax. When i set them on lyre i took a peace of cloth and rub it quick along the string. Heat makes the wax stay on the cloth and string is getting clean.
@@Nahue__ssj Of course they won't sound the same. Viola strings are made of several different types of materials: all - metal, synthetic core and gut-core (gut-core and synthetic-core strings are wound with metal).

Thank you very much! Sorry for late answer. Marks are made from nail paint, on nylon strings they are easy to remove.

Beautiful. Noticed you’re using a cello bow here. Any particular reason? Do you have the hair loosely tightened?
Yes, I didn't have a real bow - which in my opinion is much better

@@AnkluzOfficial Thanks for fast answer, your tagelharpa sounds great!
In case it helps my mini tagelharpa (2 strigns) is 50x9x3 cm and I use 6 and 8 strands of 0.5mm fishing line.
Fantastic camera angle. What do you use? I’m not very electronically inclined.
Eken H9R. It's a sport camera, something like gopro (size).
Wow you make it sound AMAZING! may I ask where did you get your talharpa? I'm looking for some but not really sure where I can find it
Thank you! I've built it myself. You can find everything on fb page "tagelharpa (och andra stråkharpor) talharpa and other bowed harps"
@@AnkluzOfficial thankyou very much! And congratulations for your instrument! it sounds incredible !
@@adrikr No problem and thanks again!
White markings on the strings for major scale and blue for minor scale?
White - tones, blue - semitones
How or with what do you tune your instrument do you have a special app for that?
Ear, electronic tuner and random app tuner is also fine.
Which string is in the direction to your Body?
Cause I am Lefthanded. I dont know if I had to put the thinest string first or the thickest.

By the way stunning playing and Melody.
Love Vindavla so much. It's so hypnotic.
On first bowed lyre: 1st string (closest to my body) is medium, 2nd is bas and 3rd one is high. Normally it should be: 1. high 2. medium 3. low (bas).
What mic setup you are using for the recording?
AT2035 Cardioid Condenser Microphone, Behringer UMC202HD U-Phoria USB Audio Interface
@@AnkluzOfficial When using the dacron strings, are they applied with some sort of grease when setting them up on the lyre u have clean off first?

What are the strings made of?
First one nylon fishing line, second one dacron b55

my tagelharpa is spiky
with a bowstring is this your idea?
Espen Winther used them.
