Let it crumble… it keeps people out and there’s no need to build anything new out there. If they did it’s just going to draw more people and mess, not to mention they’ll tear up a bunch of stuff to build something.
We definitely do need a similar program to salvage and maintain the critical infrastructure that we all need, which is crumbling so fast we won’t be able to keep up with it soon. It’s been hampering Americans for a couple generations now, which is, in part, why things are clearly going downhill no matter who you ask.
Fantastic video! Now you have revealed one of the best kept secrets in Kentucky. Red River Gorge and Daniel Boone Forest is an adventure paradise with its cliffs, arches, waterfalls, and natural beauty. Rock Bridge is a favorite of mine.

I never knew Kentucky would be a place to go see arches! With how crowded Arches NP in Utah is getting anymore, places like these are great to have to get away from the crowds and enjoy some beautiful creation.

Some great locations here to explore. I bet that waterfall you sat under was really refreshing and fun. The bridges you visited were wonderful to see. Best though was the underground kayaking. Amazing.

I have been visiting RRG since 1985; backpacking with my husband, then camping and hiking with the kids and still visiting 3 or 4 times a year to hike and vacation. The area has changed little since the 80's with limited commercial development and remains wild and the most unique geological area east of the Mississippi. RRG is a wonderful place to visit in the winter when you can hike alone and better see the rock formations without foliage. If you are lucky enough to experience it in the snow, it is just magical!

Randy, this was beautiful, as are so many of your excursions, whether in national parks, forests, monuments, or some other classification, and you hit the nail on the head re. your observation that things have deteriorated since I was a kid in the 50s and '60s--they need some definite sprucing up all across the country. I found in a google search just now that the greatest gen. was the people of the first 25 years or so of the 20th. Century, followed by the silent generation of the next 20 years or so, ending with the boomers (my generation of 1946--'64. So, John Walton was of the first group, and John Boy was of the latter, with me coming in during the #3 years.
Well said, Bob! I'm January 8, 1965 - so I humbly classify myself at the tail end of the Boomers.

that slide looked a little bumpy but fun / rock bridge is of course spectacular and wow what a kayak ride underground! sky bridge was another great hike, what a view! ok i have dealt with 3 sidewinders this year, had to kill one // better to avoid rattlers entirely. even the little ones are terrifying and can cause you a lot of problems.... hahaha... great video thanks for sharing

A kayak cave tour is something I need to do. This is amazing. Unsure about looking for snakes. Naw. They are cool in the distance or out of site.

We were just in the Red Gorge area in May. So beautiful. We hiked to 11 arches. This area is a hidden east coast gem for sure.

Thanks Randy and Julie for sharing. Seems as though Kentucky is underappreciated compared to Tennessee and North Carolina. Kentucky is a very beautiful state. Also looks to be much less crowded. Red River Gorge is definitely on our list.

If you ever go back to the Gorge in the future, I highly recommend stopping to get a pizza at Miguel’s Pizza, over on the Natural Bridge rd side of the park.
Heaven on earth is surely a cold Ale8 and a pizza from Miguel’s after a long weekend of hiking/climbing at the Red.

We saw a copperhead on the rock bridge trail just a week or two after you were there. Almost stepped on him!
That's what I've heard... they really camouflage well into the surroundings. Venomous, but thankfully not too aggressive. Trust you had a nice time!
@@AmericasParks we had a great time for our little mini trip. We did the via Ferrata as well.
All of that rock is from massive ancient petrified trees and their stumps. Arches are formed from rotted out knot holes in the wood.

Yes, all our RRG hikes over the three days would be doable for most people. Some slight elevation, nothing significant. Can't recall any exposed sections and the trails were short to moderate in length. Popular trails with people and hard to get lost.
Just so you know, you’re supposed to yield to traffic going uphill when you’re on a road that’s too narrow. It’s safer for you to back up while going uphill than for him to back up downhill.
