Hey! Thanks for this one. You have measured all the important things. I literally care for how close to the wall it can get and how tall it can stand. And you have answered both these questions. Makes me happy. THANK YOU! :)
You've really made a tidy and immaculate setup compared to my various PC setups. Thank You for going the distance with regards to removing that panel underneath your desk. Because of your upload, I'm more than informed about my future purchases regarding monitor arms🥂.
Thank you so much for making this video. I had some concerns about being able to position my monitor how I would want it but seeing the 360⁰ option eased my worries. Thanks again!
Thanks for the useful Video. I have the dual monitor arm mda20 on order and this helped me understand what all I will have to take care of at the time of install. Thanks
Great video! It really helped me with my purchasing discissions. Really like how you took time to measure the range of motion, exactly what I was looking for, you even took measurements, super nice! Only thing that would also help it the breakdown of the different materials each part was made up of, like the part that connects the VESA mount to the arm that actuates just the monitor's pointing up vs pointing down range of motion, is that metal or plastic? Thanks for sharing!
Just ordered two of these for my gaming setup and hoping for the best. Wanted to get a dual arm one but Dell never specified if the maximum weight was per arm or for the entire thing, so I went with two of these. Hoping for the best!
Does the vesa mount swivel thing directly attached to the monitor turn 90 degrees so you can have the lowest arm facing straight down the back length of your desk and then the higher arm facing the opposite side down the length of your desk and have the monitor facing straight forward. Just so it’s all sandwiches neatly as far back as you could have it all if the desk was right on the wall?, good review though. Shame that lots of plastic has been used though and a pretty short warranty
Thanks! Yes I should have demonstrated, you can rotate the monitor both directions into portrait mode. The arm will fit your monitor because it has the standard Dell bracket. It also comes with a VESA adapter for other monitor types.
Thanks a lot, it was this measure that was missing from the specifications of the dell store and I was like crazy wanting to know what the maximum range from the end of the table to the front of it he reached.
it's been a good 7 years with my dell monitor arm but it's losing strength and falls forward all the time. I've tried tightening it to no avail. It's really annoying what can I do?
Nice video! Just need some better camera equipment, lighting especially and possibly a tripod? Although while the video was dizzy after some time I did enjoy seeing all the multiple angles. It really covered well the practical aspects of setting this up! Thanks! :) Maybe a balance of both kinds of shots as it would be really helpful to visually guage the monitor being moved around with 2 hands like most users would end up doing :) If you're happy with the real estate of only the monitor, you could also get one of those vertical laptop stands to set your monitor in the far side of the table, change the power settings to stay on when closing the lid with the USB-C cable on a hook behind for easy access and you'd really gain a lot more desk space and not have to have the wires rnning across the desk :)
Yes! I did notice the monitor shakes more than usual, and I have a really solid desk. I think that would happen with any monitor arm though. After about a week I got used to it and I don't even notice it anymore.
Hi, thanks for the video. How well do oyu think it would hold up a 8.9kg monitor? i feel like that would be close to the max weight limit of the arm, putting lots of stress on it and could slowly weaken/damage the arm over a few years. do you agree or disagree? thanks
how heavy is your monitor? I want to buy it for a dell monitor that I have. it is a 4k curved 32 inch and I bought a WALI Premium Dual Monitor Desk Mount and it couldn't hold it up. I'm assuming this one could work for me but I'm not sure. thanks for everyone's time!
I have the Dell S3220DGF and when installing it on the MSA20, it’s difficult to lift up and I suspect it to be either the bottom of the mount or my tilt tension. Have you had this issue? And is it possible to lock the rotation to prevent the monitor to be sideways? Thanks!
How far under the lip of the table does the clamp go? I have 1 3/4" lip before there is a beam of wood and am wondering if that is enough for the bracket to fit onto?
Hi Mike, I don't think I explained my question very well. The base plate is like the shape of the letter "E" without the middle bar lol. This slides onto the edge of the table. What I need to know is how far does it slide under the table (towards the middle of the table). I'm wondering if I need to cut out a notch in the beam of wood under the table surface so the clamp can slide fully onto the table surface if you get what I mean?
@@canadagoose62 Gotchya - it's 2 3/4" if you include the circle washer that tightens against the desk, the clamp itself only goes 2 1/4". photos.app.goo.gl/TpzE5Z5zyFvXBTyw8
@@mpenrodmml Perfect, thank you so much for the photo I really appreciate you doing that for me :) I will have to take a saw and cut a notch out which is no big deal frankly. I was looking at 3rd party mounts and the MSA20 looks so much beefier and sturdier than the other cheaper models so I think I'll bite the bullet and order one after watching your really good review. Cheers, Mike Oh, one last thing, how wide is the base plate mount?
Hi, thank you for the useful video. Is it possible to adjust the monitor vertically with just one hand by pushing the monitor at the top or at bottom like I do with the standard Dell table stand ? I'm use to adjust the monitor height multiple time a day as I change from sit to standing (i'm using a standing desk).
hey thanks a lot for the video! I have a weird question since my table is weird. On the base mount, what is the distance between the edge of the round part against the upside down part of the table, closest to the back plate, and the back plate (where it lays on the side of the table) ?
Hi Mike, thanks for the video. Just got a U2720Q from dell and am shopping around for arms. Will probably get one from Dell with the $100 certificate my monitor is coming with. The only concern I have with this one is how close this gets to the back of the desk. I'm afraid 8 inches from the back seems a bit much to me. It seems like with the stand it comes with it would be closer than 8 inches to the back of the desk? This is a concern for me because part of the reason I'm getting an arm is to maximize desk space for notebooks/textbooks. Thoughts?
Hi Prakhar - when I did the video I was only showing the range with the monitor centered to the base, if you’re willing to have the monitor off center from your base, it goes back much farther. In this configuration the face of the screen is about 2.5” behind the desk. The desk in this configuration is 8” away from the wall to make room for the monitor arm. ibb.co/4YJhpT2 ibb.co/cFnK2sW
@@mpenrodmml thanks so much... now I don't need to spend so much on buying a new desk to get more distance between my face and the screen and not damage my eyesight..
Thanks for the video. I had ordered the MSA20 monitor arm a few days ago and waiting for its arrival. This video is very useful to me.
Thanks for the comment. Glad it helped and enjoy!

Can it turn 180degree like portrait mode

I bought this for my AW3423DW but I am not sure with how bulky it is that I would be able to have the monitor a little further from me.
did it work? is it compatible? as the AW3423DW has a mount, i suspect it wont be a clean fit like the video?

So you're a drummer, too. Let me find out that's a repurposed bowling lane as your desk. If so, I think we just became best friends! 😂
which monitor are you using? Great video btw
Thank you a million!
thats a great review, How many mm is the distance when the monitor is all the way down? edge of the monitor to the table? all the best
That monitor arm is for their heaviest monitors like 32 inch and above, there is a lighter duty model, the MSA14, that is almost a third the price
Does it comes with a vesa adapter for non-dell monitors as well?

Great review! What is the maximum thickness of the table can we install this arm?

10:46 Is the tention meter in left side is normal? I think mid is correct
That’s how it came out of the box - I’ll have to adjust it and see how it works in the middle.
10:33 Is the cover for the tension adjuster kind of loose?
Great video! What was the reason you moved the screws from the top to the bottom entries of the base?
Returned this and bought Ergotron LX. Almost the same price but much better value.
Ergotron LX looks good....but the plate of attachment to the monitor seems different from that of this monitor arm...
Absolute best choice for the money.

How low can you put the monitor down to? eg can it almost touch the table? (like I can with the stand, so just wondering if this arm can do the same)
thanks for taking measurements!
Can you recommend this one also for the Dell U3818dw?
Thank you for showing the dimensions!!
@Mike Penrod What material is the body made of? thanks for review
Body is solid metal. Cable covers are plastic.

The bolt is just over 3 3/4" long so you'd need space for that.

Is there a way to mount it from the table grommet hole? My desk has side panels that I cannot remove.
Not unless the hole is pretty big, the bracket is wider than most table grommet holes I’ve seen.
how much high it can go from desktop to bottom of the screen? Thanks
I’m having a massive issue getting this arm centered. I’m about ready to throw it in the dumpster and call it quits

Yes

Dell U2518D - I said 27" in the video, but was mistaken, it's 25". I really like the monitor.

Does any monitor arm work with dell monitors? Thanks
No, you’d need an adapter to convert the dell monitor to VESA mount in most cases.
