Robin-thanks for the comment! I USUALLY do all the lines in pen, then come back to fill in the blacks with brush. But, sometimes I use entirely brush on everything. Other times I use digital inks . I LOVE using brush. Too bad this video is too short. It only shows the pen being used. ;)
oh man, just watching when you make those smooth, perfectly thick and contoured strokes for the shoulder and pectoral...you can just feel the satisfaction. there's an artgasm.
You're one of the best out there today! You got that old school feel, thanks to Joe Kubert School. I love the issue of GI Joe you did. I wish you could do more of it.
Nice, makes sense. You're a brave man, I used to use nibs all the time but was frustrated by how fickle they could be. I switched over to nothing but brush, but watching this video is making me want to break out the nibs again.
Is it an optical illusion or are you holding the pen upside down at times. Upside down meaning the concave side where the ink is held is facing away from the paper? Do you do that to create finer lines and turn the nib around when you want to create lines with more width variations? I also do this sometimes but I think of it as a bad "unprofessional habit" simply because I have never seen or read about it before. By the way you have really nice control, and a really steady hand! HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Happy New year! No intention to use pen that way.I was just trying to use the best thin line from a smooth, old pen, that could deliver the line i desired by tilting it the way I did.
How do you change line width - I can't tell if it's the angle of the pen, pressure (or possibly speed?) In any case, this is beautifully done. Watching the strands of hair being drawn in was oddly soothing.
It's interesting to see you drawing with the "opposite" side of the nib. Do you find this gives you better control/more line options than drawing with it the traditional way?
is the crow-quill pen different from a dip pen? i know equipments dont matter if you know the basics but at this kind of point i just dont want to waste my money so im just double checking
Olla!!! I got here cuz I looked into my comic and decidex to search ypur name. You draw/penciled the "Batman vs Wildcat in Lights Camera, Death" right?!?
is it just me? or are do lot of left-handed people have a natural affinity for art? I know a lot of artists who are left-handed. I mean more than average compared to other fields...

Ducky White it's definitely a combination of both when using brush markers, but he's using live ink. In this case it the angle in which you stroke.
