I don't have the history on the chef skillet but that's a rare find. I live in BSR country and I don't have one. In the early days BSR iron was as good as anyone's.

That BSR is one beautiful skillet! I have that on the top of my wish list. I prefer BSR out of all vintage CI. Love the way Easy Beezy works. Thanks for the stove top method of seasoning. Have a wonderful week.👏

This might be a silly question, but do you season for one hour at 500 every time after you use a skillet or is that just occasionally, i.e. only when needed?

I would say occasionally a round of seasoning can help. Although many times a quick wipe or rinse with hot water will help. Also a quick hand dry or placing it back on the stove with the heat on will do the job. You can coat it with a very thin layer of oil to store or leave it as is. No need to season every time you use your cast iron cookware.

Nice skillet!! I am on the hunt for one as well. Which do you prefer?

    • @luisj.castironcooking

I prefer the BS&R for the longer handle and the bigger size. A 10” Wagner chef is harder to find and definitely more expensive. But the small 9” is still a great choice because of the lighter weight.

@luisj.castironcooking 😳 WOW. I'm still learning. I didn't know that about Wagner. Sho didn't know it was a rarity like that bsr chef. That bsr ran me krAaaaZzzee trying to find 1. Got it now tho. Ima think about a Wagner, AS IF I NEED IT🤣🤣🤣 Got & luvvvv da 2 I got. Bsr & Lodge. Both are AWESOME. Tkx for da info Luis.
