Hello from Marilao, Bulacan in the Philippines. Don't worry too much about content Dan, to all your non-trucker viewing audience (like me), even seeing simple loading and unloading is fascinating. So many different products and so many different ways to load and secure. A video or so back you picked up a small commercial air conditioner and they loaded it with what I think) is called a "straddle truck". Haven't seen one of them in years and years, they used to be very common in lumber yards and the like but forklifts more or less completely replaced them. Keep on keeping on, and give Bailey an extra rub behind the ears for me.

It's always the same in everything. The middle men soak up the gravy and the producer & truckers get squeezed. Same when the price of eggs, or meat, or vegetables goes up, it's not the farmer using wheelbarrows going to the bank.

Dan Dan the professional flat deck man. I listen to every video you put out and I don’t think I hear you complaining about rates. If you are it’s your right, that’s your semi there, you own it and you maintain it and that takes a certain amount of time and money and if there’s not much money, you can say so. It’s your blog Dan. We’re just viewers, we don’t have anything invested in what your doing, we are just the peanut gallery. Love all your videos Dan, I watch everyone. Loved the music also. I hope things get better soon for ya. Working for not much money is very hard to take. Have a great and a safe day. Happy trails and happy motoring.

The corporations have been trying to put an end to the independent trucker as far back as I started in the mid 70’s. Every time there was a downturn in the economy (high fuel prices, inflation, recession etc), many would fall to the wayside. I’m still amazed I was able to last 45yrs, and be able to retire somewhat comfortably. Feast and famine. But if I had it to do all over again, I would in a heartbeat. Good luck to all my fellow truckers.

How about telling us about the Peterbilts you have at home. You could always sell one or both of them. Thanks for the videos, this retired old flatbed puller sure appreciates them. You have gone to a few places I used to go to when they were new and just opening. Please stay safe and keep making the videos. This retired old driver sure appreciates them. My headache rack was built onto the trailer. It did limit some loads I could have gotten, but not that many. Back then my brand new Dorsey trailer was 102inches wide and 45 feet long. It wasn't a spread axle, but the tandems did move, also the fifth wheel. Thanks again, retired ol ron.

Yes, rates are low, especially considering how high fuel is and is going. In my opinion, it is due to something called "Bidenomics". Lots of available empty trucks( supply) chasing decreasing number of freight offerings (demand). Supply and demand in a free market. Less demand because of a sluggish economy is "Bidenomics"

Question - is there something like a 'Yelp' review where drivers can rate and leave comments on clients (pickup and drop). Something for comments like 'this site is at the end of dead end road and their unloading process is very slow' or 'don't enter on X street, go to Y street and come from that direction'. Seems like this could be considered when considering whether to take a load or not...or whether the rate is too low considering the headaches.

  • @Mr_Smarty_Pants

Dan, 'no freight' as in not as much to choose from or no freight as in you are dead-heading a lot to get the next load? Have you thought of branching out to a different trailer like an RGN and hauling oversize? You're already chainin' & tarpin' haha...i guess all the permits etc would be a big hassle though.
