The tip ide give is drop an item at the foot of the tree and the start of the path. I don't know how many times I was running in circles

I think you just need to wait some time. Skipping time at fireplace won't work though.
You can check it on a map - if it's recharged green icon will disappear.

@Aberukun I worked it out. Once I finished the story, they all were able to be done again. it might have been time, though. lol either way, thanks for the reply!
